If you tell somebody they are terrible they probably aren't going to show up and vote for you. So they didn't show up to vote Dem.

Republicans gave minorities something to actually vote FOR rather than something to be afraid of. Even if that was a lie or a bait and switch.

Imagine if Democrats gave people something to vote FOR and actually delivered...

What? Who tells minorities they are terrible? Democrats? And what did Trump promise minorities that the left did not?

Some people in here are legitimately making the case that this is why Kamala lost. We need to be more tolerant of the intolerant.

Yeah when the Trump flag clad pickup truck pulls up to my house to investigate reports of a queer living within shouting distance of children, I'll be sure to be extremely tolerant

Turns out many here who support the party that preaches tolerance isn't so tolerant of differing views/opinions.
This thread is getting out of hand. Show some respect for eachother.
and again for the record - I am not a fan of Trump - I am a moderate.

How people cant see the difference is mind boggling. A man walks up to a lady and says "you are a gross illegal immigrant go back to mexico" and someone walks by and says 'fuck you, leave her alone'. They are both hateful and intolerant? This is part of the reason we are fucked as a country.

Sorry to quote my own thing but it hit me that those splits in the white breakdown basically account for the queer vs straight splits among white people. That is to say, it’s entirely possible well north of 9 in 10 straight white people voted for trump.

Perhaps it's just because I live in Portland, but that just seems unfathomable to me.

That’s fair; the splits are national, and pockets of blue exist everywhere (Portland too is way more gay than average). But on a national level? Hell, even on a county level in Oregon, it’ll be way more red than we might feel comfortable with acknowledging.

does anybody think this might have had an impact:

12-24 months ago, in the peak of inflation and lost purchasing power, blue collar workers, especially in the rust belt, were struggling to pay their mortgages or pay their rent; and scrambling with the costs of feeding their families; and dealing with the cost of gas and energy. While that was going on, at least once a month they heard about the Biden Administration doing it's level best to pass student loan forgiveness; and Harris was often the face of that

is it possible that generated any resentment and cost the D's voters, especially considering that students are the least likely voters?

Gotta figure some gay folks voted for Trump as well. Maybe a lot. Maybe whiteness trumps gayness?

Certainly possible. Should have at the same time also had a program for government rebates on F-150s.

For men yes; I think that accounts for some of the difference between white men and white women. But queer women are not similarly courted by the right.

Silly me I did not think it would have any bigger of an impact to America than Felony/rape/puerto rico/Epsteins BFF/serial liar/cant answer a question/mass deportation/grab em by pussy/overturn Roe v Wade/etc. I was thinking there was a shred of decency by most Americans, but there isnt. The majority have spoken - its about money. Now, Trump and his followers better hope to God they deliver - I fully expect us all to be living in a state of low inflation, higher wages, lower taxes, less crime, less racism, with our rust belt thriving, and the wars in Ukraine and Israel over. Cant wait.

oh for chrissakes...yeah, I get you have grievances.

I wasn't saying a fucking thing about what Trump is or isn't, what's ahead or what isn't. I was just wondering about things that may have cost the D's yesterday and asking about one possibility

It’s about domination. There a genre of man that must be superior to feel human. Maybe their dad beat them as a kid or they saw their dad beat their mom and figure that’s how it should be. But if they cannot dominate someone (women usually but also minorities or poorer people than them) they will always feel oppressed, even when faced with only a slightly less privileged position.

From a sociopathic standpoint one might come to the conclusion that Kamala lost because she wasn’t white or a man. This is correct. But even a compassionate white man was going to be a coin flip against another white man offering domination.

This country, first colonized by deranged religious zealots in exile and canonized by racist grifters trying to get rich off the back of slaves long after the European slave trade was made illegal, is not a disgrace. This is the pure id of America and it is a reflection of America.

Americans love to rape. Americans love to murder. Americans despise other Americans. Our statistics bear this out, over and over. We are a country defined by its cruel domination over itself, a domination it presents as the orgasmic goal of every American: control over another human.

What makes Elon Musk and Jeff Bezos rich isn’t the money. It’s the ability to dominate thousands or millions of humans. That’s what gets them up in the morning. The framework of their domination is the accumulation of capital.

We are fuel to be burned. Will you roll over and accept your fate like a dog or will you fight against being dominated by some motherfucker who doesn’t give you any more thought than the axe does the tree?
Delusional...
It's unfortunate that you have been propagandized to this degree.

But you are free to believe that -> largely due to the ideals of the 'deranged religious zealots' that you disparage.

whiteness? he did well with black, asian & hispanic men. Also suburban women. We got work to do, and stoping to label people will help.

I’m so sorry; we will defer to the wisdom of the white man now. Lead us into salvation!

So now we’ve found out that being morally corrupt isn’t a frowned upon among the country. In fact, it’s encouraged.

I think we knew. Just a few of us tried to convince ourselves. But go through U.S. history, and it's always been that way. Those of us that thought we were the good guys and had some righteous standard were suckers. We were kidding ourselves. We were always fooling ourselves.

One is attempted rape and the other is successful penetration. I don't necessarily think anybody was trying to argue legal definitions.

The point still stands, don't you think?

First, i am in no way saying one is better than the other or condoning any type pf sexual assault, but to say all sexual assaults are rape is actually wrong. Sexual assault can be verbal. No physical attempted rape.

And this right here is the foundation of the issue many people have. Facts don't matter. Lets just say this is that and that is this so we can look good and others can look bad, without any details of the actual facts.

This type of “reasoning” is why Trump was elected. Because many are sick and tired of people twisting facts to fit a narrative…. Like you just did.

I hope you and others who do this learn from history…..or you will be diss pointed next election as well.
Its like facts and details don't even matter anymore. And whats the most disturbing is some who do this continually say they are using facts and data.

Are we really this naive and unable to separate things based on details anymore?

Like an unwanted pat on the ass of a coworker is actually attempted rape????

gtfo with that nonsense….

This is exactly your problem. You say, that Trump supporters are aggressive and hateful, using "fuck you" five times. Logic, level hard.

I'm hateful to people who hate human beings and want to take away their rights.

I still allowed you to vote. I didn't take away your rights.

Know the fucking difference before you fucking utter another nitpicking uneducated response.

Utterly shameful you thought the two even closely equated.

Throughout my 74 years Ive had tough times to get over, divorce, family death, kid issues, etc, and time heals with an attitude that the tide will turn and learn from mistakes or improvement in areas.
He will be gone in 4 years so lets objectivley figure out how to address area's that we fucked up.

What you just described is sexual harassment.

And in doing so you twisted the facts to support your narrative.

He did not do well with black men. He did well with Hispanics and Asians but neither of them would be enough to elect him. No, this is about the 74% of white men and 69% of white women who voted for him. This isn’t escapable. This is whites voting for white supremacy, by a very large margin.

What you just described is sexual harassment.

And in doing so you twisted the facts to support your narrative.
Is that so?

https://www.doj.state.or.us/crime-victims/resources/rape-and-sexual-assault/

You are simply wrong, though i dont ever expect you to admit it:

Sexual assault and sexual abuse take many different forms. By definition, sexual assault is any type of sexual encounter without a person’s consent, including:

  • rape
  • attempted rape
  • child molestation
  • inappropriate touching
  • incest (sexual contact between family members)
  • voyeurism (when someone watches private sexual acts)
  • indecent exposure
  • sexual harassment

  • Facts dont matter though…

Must be. Just seems that even in my straight, white, mostly boomer, anti-abortion, anti-queer church community, that 90%+ Trump support would be very high. I know there are plenty of them, and I know that many are very vocal about it, and even try to make it a spiritual issue ("Can a real Christian even vote democrat?"), but 9/10 sounds crazy to me.

I mean, it certainly doesn’t seem crazy at all to me, but I am more pessimistic about straight people than the average.
