Put 7 and a high 2nd together and move up? Blazers need Cody Williams, and you know someone like Detroit is going to steal Cody just to piss off Cronin

They need shooting in any way they can get it. They aren't going to take Cody Williams.

i bet you a king size candy bar right now, the Blazers are grabbing Cody. He's like an upgraded Kris Murray, he'll do great in Portland.

I'm not seeing a ton of similarities between Murray and Williams. I can see the pick making sense if he's available at 7.

I was referring to the Pistons. They aren't taking Cody Williams.

I like Cody Williams at 7.
that's what i'm saying... GM's are cutthroat when they know what rookie their rivals want. Good way to squeeze another asset from Portland.

If Cody rolls a natural 7, then it's all good

Minny had 1 and GS had 2

Minny had intel GS wanted Wiseman

Minny wanted Edwards

Minny offered to trade 1 to GS for 2 and assets

Eventually GS made the right choice in not paying more to be wrong, lol

Just as long as we don’t end up with the Anthony Bennett of this draft lol
Anthony Bennett was the #1 pick. If he had been the #7 pick he'd just be another #7 pick bust.
You can't have an Anthony-Bennett-level blunder with the 7th pick.
You should refer to a #7 pick that didn't work out.
Killian Hayes is the worst-case scenario, not Anthony Bennett.

Warriors didn't need Anthony Edwards, they have Klay Thompson.

the right or wrong choice ??

there's a big fat 2022 Warriors championship ring that reminds everyone sticking with Klay was the correct decision.

Stupid question. Drafting Edwards didn't mean moving Klay. Klay could have easily played the 3.

It's all statistics. If Karma meant so much, why is Washington picking 2nd? Why is San Antonio picking 4th? Why did San Antonio win the Wemby sweepstakes? Why did we get the 3rd pick last year. All this Karma talk is just bitching about math. Completely inane and ridiculous.
It’s karma because it never pays to cheat at anything—basketball or otherwise. Portland has been cheating for years, and they got their just rewards in this draft.

The Blazers will probably owe around $10 million to their upcoming lottery selections. Had they won the lottery, they’d be over $15 million. That doesn’t seem like a huge difference, but there’s a serious argument to be made that the Blazers would be adding little, if any, value ascending from seventh to first. Every million they added, though, would be another million they’d need to cut back on in trades before the end of the season to avoid paying tax penalties, plus missing out on end-of-year windfalls for non-tax teams.

Your logic doesn't make any sense. The other tanking teams that have received top 3 picks over the past few years weren't cheating, but we have been somehow? Karma fucks the Blazers but not other teams? You are upset, and that is fine. However, it doesn't make your point make sense in any way. Math is math. Guess Spurs shouldn't have got Wemby because of Karma. Guess Wolves shouldn't have Edwards because of Karma. Guess OKC shouldn't have half their squad because of Karma. 76ers should have Embiid. I'll stop, but I could list hundreds of examples. Blazers just got bad luck in the lottery. Shit happens.

Oh yeah, another small no-defense guard! Just what we need, BABY!
we can blame Ayton, Toumani & Thybulle. They're supposed to guard multiple players for 48 minutes, and also shoot at high percentage.

It works for other NBA teams, having defender/hustle guys mixed with offense only players.

A problem in Portland is the offense only guys have really really bad defensive help awareness. There's more flat feet on defense in Portland then I've probably seen anywhere else in the league.

At least in the Summer League special to end the season, the young guys played with scrap. I do not know why the vets look so lazy on defense as the season gets longer. Tired bodies, fatique, injuries, while the rest of the league hits the afterburners.

I'm not one to say the Blazers are out of shape, I'm sure they're finely tuned atheletes. I've watched for 2 years the core unit begin to lag at the halfway point of the year. Almost as if there's a glowing road sign saying "Jody's free vacation" on the horizon.

They aren’t upset. There are people who are actually happy with this outcome so they can come in and say “I told you so.”

The only reason why this sucks is because we potentially have fewer options at 7 but because this draft is so weak, we could still get our guy at 7. Would be interesting to be a fly on the wall in their war room.

It's too late, can't go back in time. Warriors got a ring, and Edwards got his #1 option experience.

If Edwards was 3rd fiddle in GSW, would we see the same player as we do now? Or would he be a Jordan Poole wastoid barely scratching 20 on the Wizards?

I don't think anyone is in LOVE from 3 on down. Blazers could easily move up with their 2nds. I could see a deal between Portland and Detroit to swap spots.

So lets not ask the question then...

I don’t follow other teams, and I have no idea if they were tanking, but I know Portland was. I couldn’t be happier that they slipped to 7. I wish they would have slipped out of the lottery altogether. In fact, they should have had their first-round pick taken away from them for cheating. If the NBA had any integrity, they would have done that.

If you ain’t cheating, you ain’t trying.

Most other teams, especially high in the lottery, tank just like the Blazers. Been that way for 35 years. Not sure what point your trying to argue besides proving your own ignorance.
