With projections like that, that once very solid site is now NBA Daft.
We'll see if it looks like they're taking fit into consideration after the lotto but for now that's a really bad look.

They have indicated they only go on their player rankings until after the ping-pong balls fall, so as you point out, it will likely change. But that isn't close. That might as well not have one and just publish their player rankings. That isn't a Mock Draft with any merit.

I think the workouts will be important but I like Sarr a lot and think he could play really well next to Deandre at the 4. He's extremely mobile for a 7 footer and Deandre could control the paint while Alex would protect the rim and both guys have the ability to switch out onto the perimeter, I think Sarr will be better at that. He also has a nice looking shot that I think he would shoot at a much higher rate if he only took the three when he's open.

I would be happy with the 1st pick. Sarr might never be a superstar, but I see no reason why this guy can't be another Jaren Jackson Jr. And I think we all could agree we could use one of those. Keep in mind he just turned 19 so these highlights are all from an 18-year-old

Two things that stood out to me in that evaluation:

1) Quickness. I see him as a starter at PF (preferably next to Ayton) so his quickness is huge when defending the perimeter and the rim and getting to long rebounds.

2) "Even with his current strengths and flaws, Sarr is not the final product; nobody is at 19 years old. His age should indicate that there’s room for him to take many steps in his development"

his most 'developed' skills are rim protection and shot-blocking. That's not somebody you want running around on the perimeter. IMO, Sarr wouldn't be an Ayton partner, he'd be an Ayton replacement

The way people talk about how much of a bust Scoot is because he was the number 3 pick…. Wait til they see the dump truck we pick THIS season. Hope they hold this pick to as high of standards as they do Scoot!

Sure when he reaches 240-250 he could replace Ayton. But for now, I think he would be pretty effective alongside Ayton. His 3-point percentage will likely be as good as Jaren Jackson Jr and much better than Evan Mobley who he is also compared to.

High standards? The lawn you mowed for me last weekend looked like a drunk Stevie Wonder had an epileptic seizure while holding onto a dull butter knife.

Yeah, another Ayton is pretty much how I view him, except if you watch footage of Ayton in college and compare it to Sarr, it's quite clear Sarr shies away from utilizing body contact to create separation or to bully others. It's the same when comparing him with Mobley or JJJ, who were much more physical than Sarr and used their bodies extremely well. As such, Sarr can't really play as a top tier big man. At the same time, he doesn't have good enough ball handling and shot creation skills to be dominant as a wing/forward.

In that sense, I really expect him to be Emeka Okafor or Marcus Camby with the capability to stretch the floor with a solid jumper, get occasional points down low, play defense, and grab some rebounds if he's nearby the rim. Then, Jonathan Isaac on defense. Whether or not he'll be as defensively dominant as Isaac remains to be seen but that's probably where his real potential lies. I'd expect an 18/8 guy where he is more starter/borderline All-Star but with All Defense potential....again, similar to Ayton but with higher blocks and assist numbers.

Rim running, putbacks, open jumpers, "occasional flashes" is how he'll score but I wouldn't expect a guy who can be relied upon to dominate when it matters. Then, if he's running the same plays and routes as Ayton, having both on the court makes it extremely redundant unless you plan to replace Ayton.

Anyone have thoughts on Tyler smiths fit and would using the GS pick be a reach on him? Is he more a 3 or 4 at the next level? Was fun to watch towards the end of their seaon.

Oh don't worry, people will be depressed as hell next season; whining the whole way. Haha

One of his games in Portland, there was a certain someone watching who seemed to be quite intrigued with his performance.

My thoughts are that this draft, at this point, is such a crap shoot that if a team has convictions regarding a player, take him. Does not matter if it is perceived as "too high." Im sure a few teams wish they had the nads to take Giannis or Jokic earlier. This is not the draft to try to project if you can trade down a few spots and still get your player. Every player has unknown, flaws, whatever you want to call it. It's just a matter of what flaws a particular team is willing to endure. Personally, I have little patience for 6'3 shooting guards. This draft is loaded with them.

A polished, offensive-minded face-up 4 who has question marks on the defensive end. If workouts go well, he can definitely play himself into the late lottery.

Really, really rough defensively. Would be a while before he could be serviceable on that end.

Nbadraftroom’s latest mock literally has my favorite prospects of this draft in the top-3:

1) Sarr
2) Topic
3) Clingan

You always take BPA and if Cronin keeps the GS pick (and if Edey continues to rise) I believe McCain is too good to pass up IMO. He has a lot of Brunson in his game.

Well after a season of falling asleep watching the blazers and watching the college basketball tournament i am back again. Assuming we don't move up in the draft I like Stephon Castle and Donovan Clingan. Castle was very impressive and Clingan size and agility were impressive to me. Might have to do some trading to move up to get Clingan as our second pick in the first round. It would be nice for once to have a big backcourt that can defend for a change.

IMO Klingon goes later in the draft like 9-14, we see, this will be a very fluid draft
