Well, you are mostly descended from criminals, so I guess it's a good thing you turn your energies to sport. Meanwhile the Yanks are descended from Puritans, so with them it's to take their mind off masturbation.Population

Meanwhile Australia leaps up to second in Golds. How can a nation surrounded with shark-infested-water be so good at swimming?
And crocodiles.I think you just answered your own question. Gotta outswim the sharks.
Hey! I resemble that remark!Well, you are mostly descended from criminals, so I guess it's a good thing you turn your energies to sport.
Definitely a residual effect of 2012. Seb Coe is well known here, maybe because he coached some Aussie athletes after he retired.I have no idea why GB is doing so well these days (certainly compared with, say, Germany). I grew up in the days when all we watched was the 1500 meters (Sebastian Coe! Steve Cram!) and fucking figure skating (Torville and Dean!). I think we really invested in sport for the 2012 London Olympics and it just carried over somehow.
Julien Alfred wins Gold for St. Lucia's first EVER medal! Fantastic!
Britain's Neita just out of the medals, but still much better than expected. Feel bad for Jamaica, who have failed to medal for the first time in forever. Maybe they can annex St. Lucia.
