I think that is playing a significantly bigger role than people want to admit to. That and the league figures out gimmicks relatively quick. Teams know this team can't shoot for shit, so they can collapse.

Zone is one of the styles of defense you play when you are not as talented as you need to be to play regular defense.

At the end of last year the team had an identity : defense. Losing Ant and gaining Jrue surely should have kept the team on the trajectory. Not the case. That is the concern, not the one game Billups coached this year. That game is irrelevant.

We're playing the zone for two reasons.

The main one is that we're short-handed. We weren't playing much zone when we were at full strength.

The second is that we've always been an awful zone team. We were an awful zone team with Chauncey. Now we're playing zone a lot of the time when we have a number of guys who don't play much after probably not working on it a lot in practice.

If Billups was still here, we'd probably be dealing with the same thing. But people are remembering this as if Billups was here for the first month rather than the first game.

No, I was agreeing with you that the injuries are a much bigger reason why the team is shit right now (tho I do think coaching plays a role).
