Murray had as many turnovers and fouls as he had rebounds and shots tonight -- 8.
1. That's a deceptive stat. He had exactly the same number of fouls as Toumani and Sidy, and people aren't bitching about them because they know the refs were calling shit. And he had 6 rebounds (3 offensive) which was 3rd on the team, and a steal. And he was one of only 4 Blazers who DIDN'T have a negative +/-. Where's all the Caleb hate? He deserves it much more this game.

Shaedon like a hot girl who makes poor life choices.
you wanna believe, ya know.
He'd been doing a lot better the last several games of laying off the three ball when it isn't falling but tonight his shot selection could have been better.

That being said I think he's still showing a ton of promise.

I imagine that the way some of our fans are shitting on him this year is probably similar to what some of the Wizards fans were saying about Deni in his fourth year.

He should have been gone this past summer. Should have kept Jabari over him. Another screw up for Cronin.
That's probably true. The only reason I can think to keep Murray over Jabari is Murray can handle the ball a little better, but Murray's fear of the ball pretty much cancels that out.

Well maybe he'll break out next year or the year after.

Jeez, so he fucked up in the fourth. He had some good hustle plays earlier. Not many Blazers looked great tonight. Detroit will do that to you.
It's not lost on me that he was playing because we had literally no one else. But it doesn't change my opinion that he's a borderline NBA player at best.
This team will be immeasurably better when we acquire a forward that gets Kris Murray off the roster. I've heard of players that it's like playing 4-on-5 when they're on the floor. He's like playing 3-on-5. He's so bad that he actually negates another one of your own players.

His play down the stretch tonight ranks among his worst showings ever. Two badly-missed 3s weren't even the worst part of it. Brainlessly throwing away an easy inbound in a tie game and immediately following that up with an illegal screen? You have to be kidding me.

I really think he wants to be out of the NBA. I really do. He shows no emotion and has shown practically no improvement in his career. This has to be his last year with the Blazers. He just doesn't bring anything to the table.
They picked up his option next year already.

They picked up his option next year already.

Why? Why would they do that?

It's fine to pick on his play but this is just asinine. I really don't get fans who think they know what's going on in players' heads.

Well we certainly know what's not going on in his head.

Toumani was second team all-defensive team last year and shoots much better than Murray, and he's below average at that.

Cissoko is a 21-year-old who actually was defending all five positions while in the game. He scored eight points, hit two 3s and made Stewart work down low.

You need Clingan's reach to try to compare Murray with either of them. It's laughable.

What's that fallacy where you fixate on one vivid example and ignore everything else? Apparently nobody remembers that we made a 9-0 run in the fourth before the bottom fell out, and Kris was around for all that. Meanwhile we would have won in a landslide if we'd had somebody other than Caleb. And yet it's Kris Murray who gets 100% of the shit.

More floaters from Shaedon are needed. He needs to get downhill most of the time.

Also unless he finds himself 2-3 from three or 3-3 then at that point he should shut the three point shot down unless it's absolutely wide open and set.

All of that's a complete non-sequitur. What's that got to do with them having exactly the same number of fouls?
You: "fouls are bad when Murray has them, but they're not bad when other people have them"

I don't see a reason to keep Murray around after his year because Cissoko does everything Kris does, but at least tries not to be useless on offense.

His play shows no improvement and no energy. And I've coached, scouted, worked as an educator and my father has a degree in psychology, so I have more of a background to be able to watch someone's play and demeanor and suggest he doesn't look like he likes playing basketball than you have trying to make the absurd comment that Murray is on a par with Toumani Camara.

Good lord. Are you Murray's mom?

I really don't understand the talk from the coaches that he has high bbiq. I think he has a high motor and some athleticism and that is it. It's just not enough to be an NBA player.

Agreed.

OK, so you're admitting you're making bad faith arguments to defend a guy whose play is indefensible then. Thanks for saying the quiet part out loud, but it's an obvious deflection, because the obvious part that's in my post is both those guys more for the Blazers than Kris Murray.

Someone asked when the last time Rob played 30 minutes in a game so I looked and I may have missed something but from what I saw it was 5/14/23 in a game seven win in the second round against the Sixers.

It's difficult for Joe to admit that Murray is not the lottery quality pick that he claimed he was. If I remember correctly, also claimed Rupert was lottery worthy.

Dame has to be salivating watching Deni play at this level.
Shae needs to work on dribbling the ball.
Jerami needs to stop dribbling in traffic.

This team healthy could be really really good.
On to the next one!

I think it might just be me and you aboard the Murray train. Wanna drive or ride shotgun? Also we probably don't need a train, maybe just a covered wagon.

I think y'all can just get a tandem bike
