Presuming this score holds up, Shaedon's the big reason we lose by double digits. He found his shot tonight, BUT, he made Fears and Alvarado look like Rajon Rondo and Jason Kidd with his inexplicable, total disinterest on defense.

He just doesn't play hard. He doesn't play hard on either end of the court.
I can't believe you would try to pin the entire team sleep walking through this game on one guy.

That's some crazy stuff. Don't get me wrong, it's the correct diagnosis of Shaedon's effort but no one else was engaged either (Rupes and Sidy being the exdeption).

3-22 and they just scored 140 points

Even with all the injuries this is atrocious

Will Cronin point at the injuries as an excuse and continue to sit on his thumbs?

I can't remember the last time I was this disappointed with the guys playing in a game. I get it that they don't have the teammates they expect to have but not one of our rotation players stepped up tonight. No heart. Also this coaching staff hasn't just lost this team, they might not have ever had it without Chauncey, who is gone because he's a fool...

allegedly.

It’s honestly so crazy that we could have had Queen, Coward, or an unprotected 2026 lottery pick and we said no to all of them and took Yang.
Oh but Joe is a wizard. Yang will be all star material. Don’t you worry. The Chinese Jokic…fuck me.

I seriously want everyone traded. Look at what SAS and HOU were able to do after tanking. They are set. This Cronin iteration of the roster is shot. Joe can’t pick the underwear out of his ass crack. GET PICKS for a new GM

Rupert and Sidy combined 11-for-14 from the floor, 6 reb, a steal and a block in about 28 minutes.

Only committed three fouls.

Rupert has 14 points, Sidy 13.
The lesson here is clear: the rest of the team needs to play a game for the Remix.

143 points. It's hard for me to believe that even with all the injuries, we are this bad on defense. The personnel should not be THIS bad.
Against a team that averages 113 points per game which is 7th worst in the league.

Joe needs to make some trades and possibly say goodbye to Tiago. I like Tiago but he just isn't getting the job done... regardless of injuries.

First, I didn't pin the entire effort on him. I said he was the big reason. If you're going to bust on the take, at least get my take right. You quoted a post that said he was "the big reason."

Jerami was terrible tonight, too, but there was only one player that made it impossible to play a zone defense in the second half, and that was Shaedon. You can't play a zone defense when he's allowing literally anyone to dribble right by him and break down the defense. Oh, and then the McGowens' dunk was the perfect exclamation. Late to recognize a inbound skip pass to the other corner, horrible closeout to take himself completely out of the play, and just gives up.

I remember trashing Sam Presti in 2009 because he passed on ROY Tyreke Evans to take that bum James Harden.

I dunno, Deni, Jerami and Toumani didn't feel like playing hard either.
Same thing I said to blazerkor, I didn't say Shaedon was the only reason. I said he was the big reason. Those other guys at least attempted to play on the defensive end. They didn't play well offensively, but there was some effort there.

Supposing we wanted to trade Shaedon right now - we couldn't anyway, right? Is there any team that can absorb his poison pill contract?

What was the scenario where we could have gotten an unprotected 2026 first for not taking Yang? I don't remember that.

I'm unbothered by trading the 11th in 2025, though, for Coward or Queen. I like Coward. Queen, not so much; I think he'll get figured out or eventually run into conditioning issues. But neither of them is going to make the Blazers a lot better in the short or long terms. We got a player with a lot more upside (admittedly with a lot more risk) and a first-round pick to move down five spots. I think that's acceptable mitigated risk for passing up guys whose upside is probably the third best player on a middle-of-the-pack playoff qualifier.

Is Chris Paul actually a free agent now? Because I'm re-thinking trying to sign him. He grates on everybody after a while because he can't not point out what they're doing wrong, but I also just read something about how he paid for Lou Dort to have a subscription to the website that allows you to watch any footage of any game so he could study tape all the time, and Dort still thinks of him every time he watches tape. If CP3 could make Shaedon his project it would either break him or make him finally improve at the fundamentals that matter.

If this is a genuine inquiry, here's the answer: Atlanta, picking 13th, was given New Orlean's unprotected 2026 pick in return for taking Derik Queen. It is widely assumed that this offer was available to teams picking earlier (to avoid the risk that Queen went before #13), including us at #11.

The Hawks were two picks behind us and they traded back from that spot 13 to pick 23 and picked up NOLA's FRP in this upcoming draft without any protections on it.

They took Asa Newell who I think is am ultra athletic small ball 5 type guy who would be a much better fit for our current schemes than Yang. That being said Yang was our front office's guy and they got him and an unprotected 2028 FRP from Orlando, so I can't really fault them.

I seriously think the move to make is to fire our coaching staff and pay Thibs as much as it takes to get him on a one year only contract.

He can kick our players' asses for the rest of this season and then Dundon can go out and get a long term solution this offseason.

Sorry, that was way too aggressive on my part. I'm just really frustrated with the whole team but going off on Shaedon is fine by me, he's just another dude who is on this team and far too often plays like he doesn't give a shit.

Thanks. It was a genuine question. I'd forgotten that. In fact, I was thinking during the game how New Orleans could have miscalculated this badly to give up their first and be this bad.

Thank you. I read Rasta's answer first and responded to him.

I turned off the game in the beginning of the second qtr checked in at the end of the third and tuned out again. Couldn't watch it. Clankfest!

No, you're fine. I get the frustration. I get that way with Shaedon. I wanted us to draft him early in his draft year and I take it personal when I think I see him dogging it, so it's fine. Plus, I am the last one that should be giving people grief for acting out a bit now and then.

I would guess it's about where the thumb really is? Is he just sitting on it or is it pacifying him in some way?
