That was the definition of lackluster. The Blazers looked tired. Or maybe they felt beaten even before taking the floor.
If you want to make an instructional video of how not to play offense, this was the game. No movement without the ball. So much 1-on-5 and 2-on-5 with everyone else standing around makes the Thunder defense look a lot better than it already is.
So, so soooooo many lazy 3s with no teammate within 20 feet of the rim to rebound.
Really poor usage of Clingan. The Thunder have an advantage on offense with Clingan on the floor because they can play 5-out. In response, the Blazers need to make them have to guard Clingan in the restricted area. You can't play Clingan 25 feet from the hoop playing pick-and-pop 75-to-90% of the time; it gives away your biggest advantage, especially when no one knows how to work hard to properly use Clingan's 3-point-line screens. And that comes just days after I watched Wemby abuse Holmgren physically close to the basket. Why play Holmgren's game? Make him play yours. IMO, it would have been more sensible to let Clingan set pin-down screens away from the ball at least 50% of the time. That would have solved two problems with our offense tonight -- forcing movement without the ball and keeping Clingan near the hoop where he could do damage.
At least Sidy came out of his offensive funk tonight.
