I'm disturbed by the number of games Clingan has been played off the floor simply by the other team having a center that can shoot 3s.

That’s why a trade for Sabonis would be a good move for us. We would be able to counter more quickly and not get in that situation as much.

I'd rather trade for JJJ. Sabonis can't stretch the floor and isn't a very good defender.

Agreed. He's an expiring anyway so he's gone after the season. Though I'd be surprised if he lasts past the deadline.

Shaedon is not mid but yeah when Deni isn't playing well we don't have a good chance to win right now.

I just hope some teams think they're one vet PG (Jrue) away from a title, one two way vet role player (Jerami) away from contention or want to throw a few second round picks our way for Rob and/or Tisse.

Listening to Neil and Michael break this game down there is one thing that's clear. Our coaching staff has not done a good job of defining the roles of the guys on this team and if the coaching staff has an idea for what they want our players' roles to be they aren't having success implementing those roles.

Michael was just saying on the post game after watching Tiago's press availability that "the biggest thing and I'm glad he said it... was Deni isn't 100%". I really thought after that pause that Holton was going to say the repeated lapses in concentration that Tiago talked about.

It's easy to point out that our best player isn't at 100% but the truth is that's not what's hurting us the most, what's hurting us the most is a lack of focus leading to big big turnover numbers.

We can't be one of the best teams in the league if we are the worst in the league at taking care of the ball.

How quickly we've gone from not being concerned with the draft and talking about trading for Giannis to now we're absolutely horrible.

And such it is with fans. I get the optimism, but too many of us were riding a little too high when we had that hot streak, and that's made everyone become depressed or panicked when we returned to the mean.

The truth is, and always has been, that the Blazers were never as good as the team that won 11 of 14, nor are they as bad as the team that lost by 30 tonight.

It's probably going to be like this the rest of the season, too. This team is well-constructed under the restraints with which the front office was dealing, and a lot of progress has been made, but it also has certain deficiencies that were going to make it hard to perform consistently (e.g. key players being very young, older players who are really injury prone, no real pure shooter on the roster, a couple of freak, fluky injuries, etc.).

FWIW, I'm going to advise Blazer fans, as much as possible, to measure their enthusiasm when the team plays well, and then not want to reconstruct the roster with every couple of losses. Clingan's not being played off the floor. Jrue played badly the last couple of games, but he also was about the only good thing about the team the couple of games before that. Deni's style is going to make him one giant bruise by the end of the season and it's always going to lead to turnovers, too, so we need to take the bad with the good until we get Dame and another shooter or point producer in here next year to keep teams from putting everyone in the paint to stop him. Toumani basically needs to hit a couple of outside shots for the Blazers to have a real chance against good teams, and he's getting there, but he's not that guy yet. Shaedon's still learning the game in a lot of ways. Caleb's good, but he's still playing against type and is at the point in the season now where he's playing more ball in a year than he ever played in college. Yang's a project. Splitter's not Phil Jackson but he's not anti-Phil Jackson. The players didn't go from understanding their roles to never having understood them in just over a week. We can go on and on.

The Blazers aren't as good as they look when they win, nor are they as bad as they look when they lose. They're a work in progress. Please try to understand that when you watch them play. Success isn't final, and failure isn't fatal, it's the growth from each that counts.

I'm not panicking. Jrue and Deni are underperforming because they're coming off injuries. They're a big part of the team.
