Caleb Love is better than Scoot.

Watch out. I tried to say something similar (without going that far) and pitchforks came out.

There is zero point for us to keep Scoot next year if Jrue is staying and Dame can play. Keep Love and package Scoot in a package with our lotto pick and others like Grant for an upgrade.

Scoot's a head case, unfortunately. He shot the ball well in the second half of last year. He looked good shooting in summer workouts. He shot the 3 pretty well in his first couple of games after coming back. And then ... this.

I wanted him to be good so bad. A player doesn't even have to shoot the 3 well to be a good player. It helps, but it isn't a prerequisite. But he doesn't do enough in other areas to overcome his problems with shooting the 3. He doesn't even get to the line anymore.

No idea what happened to him, but it's hard to see a future for him. Playing him even lowers what little trade value he retains.

At this point, the play-in only means they've "improved" from last year.

They're still getting their lotto pick, so hopefully they have some luck when it comes to that (finally).

You are 100% right. Of the years to lose the pick, this is 100% not the one! Making the playoffs (no matter who they would play in the 1st round) is at best a gentlemans throttle.

It might not answer their woes (defense and 3 point shooting have regressed significantly throughout the season, even taking into account injuries)...but holy shit, the playoffs definitely embellishes their woes.

It really feels like we're watching rookie Scoot again, but worse because his defense isn't even good now. But he's back to shooting even layups from the left side with his right hand, not being able to finish at the rim, not being able to break down even average defenders. He's showing all the signs of a player that doesn't believe in his training and has no confidence in his game. Fundamentally, everything looks proper, his shooting form looks good, but he just doesn't believe he can do it.

He's essentially playing a home game tonight, and he's looked awful.

unless he picks it up dramatically hard to see the Blazers offer him any significant contact extension, unless we trade him maybe just wait and see if he improves next year
