against the 6th worst team in the league missing both of their C's and on a 5 game losing streak, the Blazers, at home desperately needing a win, lose while committing 24 turnovers and missing 10 FT's....is that bad?

Marvin Bagley sure looked good. For a guy who had averaged 7.3 ppg in March and 10ppg for the season.
He had a season high against the Blazers.

Didn’t need to be to win that game. They had won 9 road games all season. Portland should have been tanking all season.
Why? Key to getting the #1 pick the last two seasons was to MAKE the play-in. We didn’t win enough games to get #1 pick last year. Now we’re right where we need to be.

Terrible terrible loss. Worst look of the season. Ouch. That one stung.
In all fairness i might be to blame. My tix went to a hard core Mavs fan I worked with.
He brought the Mav power or something.

Just an ugly ugly game. Hard to watch.
I have to agree with assessment although you are not to blame. It's one thing to be beaten by a better team. It's quite another to lose due to lack of focus. They are professionals. They knew this game was critical, especially with Clippers and Warriors winning. And they played sloppy and bored.

Well, now we gotta get the tar and feathers ready.

Held the team to 100 points that had previously scored over 130/ game for the last three. Defense was good.

Turnovers were sad. They were the difference in this game. It's like sharp and crisp passing is only necessary when they have to.

And sometimes that isn't enough of a reason.

It would’ve helped at the end when the game was tied and we needed a shot maker. We don’t beat Minnesota without him.

Again, they played like ass with him in this game. How the team faired against another team with him has absolutely nothing to do with this.

but that's kind of the problem with mediocre teams. They have trouble sustaining good play from game to game. They can shoot 42% on three's one game; shoot 23% the next. Have 9 turnovers one game; have 24 the next game. Control the boards one game; allow the opponent 17 offensive rebounds the next.

teams made up of inconsistent role players tend to play inconsistently. Even Portland's best player is inconsistent. Deni scored 20 last night on 15 shots, but he missed 5 of 9 FT's and had only 6 assists vs 5 turnovers, and 3 of those turnovers came in clutch time. It's always a game of whack-a-mole that usually results in as many losses as wins.

since Jan. 22, the Blazers are 14-16. That doesn't look too bad. But, 11 of those 14 wins have come against the worst teams in the league:

Memphis - 3 wins
Utah - 2 wins
Indiana - 2 wins
Brooklyn - 2 wins
Chicago
Milwaukee

and in the 3 wins they played Philly without Embiid; Phoenix without Booker, Brooks, and Allen; Minny without Edwards & Reid. That's not to say that Portland didn't play well in those games and haven't been dealing with injuries too. Just that their resume is a lot closer to lottery than playoffs; mediocre

On the same token, how many losses came when Portland didn't have Shaedon, Deni, Jerami, Scoot or Jrue?

You’re right our team sucks. Sly letting you also post as AldoTrapani was genius.
Our team has 34 wins worth of talent like I predicted in October. They have busted their asses and played above that. Not sure what to tell you FAMS! If you think they are a 50 win team that has underperformed, that’s on you son.

Tiago Splitter says Jerami Grant felt a pop in his calf. Tiago said his level of concern is at "100%."
Yeah…… the word “pop” ain’t too good, when it’s used to describe an injury. I’m no expert and know nothing, but i don’t think an injury that made a “pop” sound is something you come back from quickly. Just my 2 pesos!

So here is a perfect example. Now we are down Rob, JG, Shae etc……. Let’s keep those expectations realistic right?

I’m going to start finishing my posts with LOL now like the Faldo Trumpino guy…..LOL

Have to give new owner a few years to turn the shit around after a decade of debacle. I hope he listens to ALL offers for ANY player. Even Deni. Deni is not a first option. Great player but teams will deal with him because of his horrible propensity for losing the ball. Factor in the bad back?

Well, there goes any chance of trading his ass this off-season.

they are

7-9 without Deni
15-12 without Sharpe
10-8 without Grant
14-15 without Jrue
13-10 with Scoot (but that came against the softest part of their schedule)

I'm not seeing any significant difference. Anything to point to

what I have seen is a raft full of injury excuses for Portland losses. For some reason, Spotrac's website is down right now, at least it is for me, I linked it in a post a week or two ago. What is showed is that over the 5 seasons of Cronin's teams, the Blazers were ranked 5th in the number of injuries. They always have lots of injuries. Meaning it's not a one season bug but a 5 season feature. It's not credible to talk about how the team would do when healthy when they are never healthy

look at games missed by starters:

Camara 0
Avdija 16
Jrue 29
Sharpe 27
Clingan 5

Portland 77

Holmgren 11
SGA 12
Williams 45
Dort 13
Hartenstein 32

OKC 113

Fox 10
Vassell 15
Castle 12
Wemby 15
Barnes 5

Spurs 57

Murray 5
Jokic 16
Braun 36
Johnson 26
Gordon 43

Denver 126

Doncic 12
Reaves 26
Lebron 21
Smart 14
Ayton 10

Lakers 83

Edwards 15
McDaniels 2
Randle 0
Gobert 3
DiVincenzo 0

Minny 20

Amen 2
Durant 3
Smith 4
Sengun 9
Eason 22

Houston 40

Booker 16
Brooks 23
Allen 28
O'Neal 3
Williams 16

Phoenix 86

Curry 35
Butler 36
Green 13
Moody 14
Podzieminski 0

Warriors 98

Portland is middle of the pack among WC playoff/play-in team

Basketball index actually tries to gauge injuries by the quality of players missing games. 'Wins above replacement missed'. What they show is that Portland has missed fewer than the league average

you can sort on the table. Portland 17th in missed WAR; 10th in missed minutes; 8th in missed games. Pretty simple concept; That being that Jokic missing 16 games is not the same as Grant missing 18; that Aaron Gordon missing 43 is not the same as Scoot missing 52; that Curry missing 35 is not like Wesley missing 45

so yeah, I'll occasionally push back when people point to injuries as the reason Portland is where they are. That's not to say Portland hasn't had injuries. It is to say that all the other teams in the NBA who aren't tanking are dealing with the same thing
