Event 2025 NBA DRAFT LOTTERY, COMBINE, AND DRAFT (1 Viewer)

People keep talking about this Queen kid. He wouldn’t get ANY time ahead of Clingan and Ayton. Unless they think he is a PF?

Not a huge deal. He's a rookie. He can pickup spot minutes during injuries for the first year. You don't draft for what the player does for you next season.

Why the Spurs? What makes them a giant powerhouse organization that brings eyes? They hold a handful of some of the lowest viewed finals series since they started tracking.
Because Wemby is the most important star of this generation. And the Spurs are one of the most trustworthy organizations. Especially with big men.

Sounds about right. Let's start Ayton Grant Ant and we can bury Scoot/Sharpe/Clingan on the bench.

Lesson is: don’t tank. All those hard tanks got nothing. POR was right to just try to win as many as possible. Humiliating your organization just to get a 4-10 is a bad move. Win win win. Always win. That is the path forward. Forget super stars and mvp votes. Battle in to the post season. Can you imagine how UTA die hard fans feel? All they did was lose and it got them nowhere.
Id much rather have #5 than #11.... So wouldn't say Utah got nowhere.

I'm all for trying to win 100% - but with youth. I never understood what the purpose of the AntGrantAyton big 3 was on our team.

Odd dynamic to Flagg or any Mavs star... Would you want to join that franchise? You've seen how they treat a superstar that carries a team to the finals. I could see stars prefer not to be on a team with that owner or Nico as the GM.
If I were the Flagg I'd be pissed about who my GM is going to be. They do have good fans. Assuming both come back from their injuries you do have two HOF teammates... sorry with Klay that's three HOF teammates on the back end of their careers but still you have a chance (if healthy) to immediately contend for a title. If I was Flagg I would make a point of having a good, independent of management, relationship with ownership. If you feel like Nico is up to some whack shit, just have him fired. I think Flagg will be good enough to have that dynamic.

It while I said what I said about being happy for Mavs fans after Nico fucked them this season it does sting a little more that it was a team behind us that got Flagg. He would have been what we need.

Not that I'd put it past our current franchise but Bobby Marks is absolutely useless. His information almost never reflects any reality besides the objective stuff... that being cap related. His trade ideas never make any sense, he openly says that he no longer has any sources in the league. I'm pretty damn sure Marks knows where all of the bodies are buried at ESPN because his personality is non existent on top of everything else.

I mean what guy who actually was an assistant GM and doesn't keep up with front offices around the league once they move to TV basically just so he doesn't have to come up with trades based on any legit rumors... or maybe Marks is still really plugged in and he just doesn't give a fuck about the fans and does his boring ass shit instead of giving us anything of value. That probably is it because I swear that dude has never proposed a trade that made sense or has happened and I feel like he would have tripped and fallen into being right by now if he wasn't actively trying to be wrong. He does, to his credit always say that his lame ass shit is not sourced at all, I just don't know why ESPN uses him.

Fell asleep and woke up pissed off bc of this BS… I’m still salty about it.

It’s not even about us not moving up, or falling back.

F the Mavs, and F the Spurs too. The fact that they went 1 and 2 is probably worse case scenario imo. Maybe the only thing that would have been worse is if the Spurs were the ones who ended up with Flagg.

Nah, you got the wrong Texas team this time. If the Rockets got the first pick and the Spurs got the second that would be far far worse.

Brooklyn is a big market. Flagg would look pretty good there. Chicago is a big market. He'd look great there. But instead they send him to Dallas as a reward. Seriously, why do you guys fucking watch?

Dallas forth worth is a big market though isnt it?

And beyond Dallas, Texas has like 35 million people?
Id say in sports, Texas is a large market.

Some things I thought about once the rage went away (I'm joking about the rage part).

It's kind of pointless to complain about how they finish the season now, as the last 2 lotto winners were both a part of the play-in.

The league should eliminate those teams as potential lotto picks, IMHO.

Also, when LeBron left the Cavs, they got the #1 pick.

When Anthony Davis was traded from the Pelicans, they got the #1 pick.

The Mavs gift the Lakers their best player (and arguably a top 5 player in the league), and they get the # 1 pick.

Portland trades their best player and their reward? The 7th pick.

Thankfully there's no guarantee in life, but JFC, the league really has a weird way about making things fair.

I'd really be pissed if I was a Jazz, Wizards or Hornets fan.

I was thinking similarly last night. Something should be done along the lines of, if a team makes the playin then whatever picks the team has that year cant be in the top four. If the team made the playoffs, they cant be in the top ten.

Maybe that's also why Dirk won a title in Dallas! Refs must have thrown the game to stop LeBron from winning a title.

The NBA was planning how to get 4 year old Flagg to Dallas one day.

Flagg was Four years old three years ago?

Wtf? Lol. And you’re trying to make fun of me????

Those of you who think there's no chance the lottery could be fixed are the same with heads in the sand regarding a great many things in the corporate greed world we live in.
But you keep thinking all is fair and greed doesn't run this country….
And if you know greed runs this country, then why so much pushback!
“Greed runs everything. But not the nba…”
look at the tv contracts advertising deals… anyone who thinks it isn't possible is out of their minds.

So what’s the draft look like in 2026?
Are they tanking again next year?

Please explain how those three got the NBA to rig the draft so that Portland landed where they were statistically most likely to, Utah got screwed and Dallas got lucky. Did Jody slip Ernst and Young a billion dollars to fake the results?

I don't even want to see what Jazz fans are saying!
probably something along the lines of "Gosh darn it!"

I know no one cares but does Dallas even consider trade for Giannis? Giannis, AD, Kyrie is likely favorites next couple of years

Nico is such a scapegoat. That deal doesn't happen without ownership pushing for it. This should be obvious by now.
Luka has been getting fatter and fatter each year and that doesn't age well. Obviously the Mavs management had tried to get him to give a fuck, his actions showed he just didn't. Ownership had very real reasons not to want to resign him and tie their future to him... of course

After another torn ACL in March, very questionable Kyrie does much of anything next season

Ant, Ayton, Thybulle and Timelord contracts all expire this summer. Deni and Camara are on cheap deals. Cap is going up a lot too. As long as we don't hand out more stupid contracts we can eat the Grant deal.

I mean if we can sign multiple stars with Grant space of course I'd explore that. I just doubt that's the case. Much better to keep #11 and try to get a good player. They will be on a cheap contract longer than Grants deal.
Those contracts expire next summer (2026).

As called by multiple posters when Grant resigned, they're stuck with him unless they trade him for another horrible contract just to rearrange the deck chairs. If they let those other contracts come off their cap following next season, even with resigning Sharpe they should have space for another sizable deal via FA. I don't think that player needs to be a star for this team to compete if their young core reaches their collective ceiling

prior to being drafted, Kobe let it be known via his agent that if his draft rights ended up with anyone besides the Lakers he would enroll at UNC and that team would lose his draft rights. This was openly spoken about prior to the draft and I heard interviews with several NBA GMs who were in the lotto confirming this including the Warrior GM Dave Twardzic & Nets Assistant GM John Nash... I also heard an interview with UNC coach Dean Smith saying the same thing. The NBA changed their rules following this to prevent it from happening again where now teams hold onto those rights

And to show you I am not made of stone, I am trying to reframe it all in a positive fucking light.
