I wouldn't call him low IQ or low effort at all

The float comment on him is in regards to his aggressiveness as a scorer. He looks so good when he's in the post or getting to his 1-2 dribble pull-up, you wish he did it more.

I wasn’t referring to any one player just making a statement about type of player I want at 11 and in general moving forward. Any player we draft or add through free agency or trades should have these attributes

There are different tiers of IQ an effort.

If someone isn't a "high IQ player with relentless effort" doesn't make them low IQ/low effort. I typically view it in 4 tiers. High/Relentless, above average, below average, and low

Not a lot of consensus yet amongst the top mock drafts -

A current sample of some of the common #11 picks on mock drafts:
(4) Collin Murray-Boyles (NBA, CBS/Parrish, SB Nation, HoopsHype)
(3) Noa Traore (USA Today/ForTheWin, Tankathon, NBADraft.net)
(2) Kasparas Jakucionus (CBS/Boone, The Athletic)
(2) Egor Demin (ESPN, NetScounts)
(2) Jeremiah Fears (CBS/Finkelstein, USA Today/AI)
(1) Derik Queen (The Ringer)
(1) Carter Bryant (Yahoo/O'Connor)
(1) Asa Newell (Bleacher Report)

My favorite is CMB, but he certainly has his red-flags as do most of the players on this list.

My preferences: CMB, Thomas Sorber, Asa Newell, Jase Richardson. But I'm not overly excited about any of these prospects.

I really like CMB but I think he's likely going later teens/twenties like Eason who is a pretty good comp for him.

I think Kasparas would be a great get. Queen too.

Agreed. My guess is Queen and Kasparas will be gone by #11, but who knows...

I think the talent level really falls off and levels off after the first 5 or 6. It feels like most of the mock picks in the 8-14 range are reaches. I'm not usually a fan of trading down in the draft, but this year it looks like the 'value' picks could be in the 15-18 range grabbing who falls.

My preference is trading up to get Kon or another sure thing prospect. Brooklyn is a team who has four 1sts.

Nobody had Essengue? (Sidenote: Noa Traore, Noa Essengue, Noah Penda - were they predicting biblical floods in France around 2005?)

Kind of intrigued by Traore. He's skinny but he's got real talent.

I saw some NBA comps and they had Chris Mullin for Kon. If that’s real I’d give up something to move up but I also think if we can get into a Hou deal and snatch Reed that works also. He has a lot more than he got to show last season.

Watching the Knicks/Pacers, I started thinking we need a real strong finisher like Halliburton or Brunson, who incidentally were drafted 12 and 33. Is there an alpha dog out there? Does Fears have the potential to be one eventually if he fell to us?

Gotta take a lot of swings to up your odds of hitting big at 12 or 33.

I don't think you're taking those guys expecting stars (even at 12). You're hoping you get lucky.

My updated board:

Trade up into the top-5:
Kon Knueppel (likely at #4)

Staying at #11:
Kasparas Jakucionis

Ant/Orlando Hypothetical #16:
1a) Jase Richardson
1b) Hugo Gonzalez
Darkhorse: Joan Beringer

Trading for an early second rounder:
1a) Rocco Zikarsky
1b) Milos Uzan

I was counting on both Shae and Scoot to be strong finishers. Halli & Brun both dribble to much for the blazer fandom. We have one now in Simons.....

You would think Coward is only coming out if he has a promise to go in the first round
Not bad for a kid who started his college career here in Oregon at Willamette University
First round? I'm likely to be bummed if he slips past #11

Nbadtaft.net just updated their mock..

They dropped CBM into the second round.

Becoming more and more intrigued by Nolan (not Noa) Traore. I think people forgot about him because he had a rough start of the year in the French Pro League, but here's him these days:

Would we use the pick on a guard? Maybe if we were planning to trade Anfernee. And he fits the model of somebody with a super-high ceiling.

That film was better than the last time I watched his game. He has improved...

I don't like his dribble. Feel like he keeps it too high & it's a bit loose. Also his base/footwork on his jumper needs a lot of work

Ya, jumping high and being good at basketball are two different things
well yeah and exceptional length and being tall are different things too. But jumping higher then others is hints at an overall ability to be quicker & run faster then other players which are advantageous qualities. Combine a few of these qualities with skills and a love for the game/competition & you may find a guy for the rotation. MJ is generally thought of as the GOAT and he just so happens to also be the guy who is thought to jump the highest of any player in the history of the game.

Ironically it was The Goat who could jump higher.
