I watched the highlights of several games and obviously I'm not seeing the missed shots but his form from three looks great on the makes, slow release but good form and consistent. I don't know how you can say the guy cannot shoot outside of 6 feet when he made a third of his three pointers this last season.

He definitely could be a bust, I don't have enough information to know that he'll be good in the league let alone great but the video on him is impressive.

Also he's not Ha Seung-jin, that dude was slow. Yang's combine stats are better than the slow centers stats are, he's not a guard or a wing but he isn't as plodding as Clingan or others on that level of mobility.

I guess we'll see but on the limited info we have, I don't think it's time to call this young guy a bust.
I think it was @THE HCP that said he can make any player look like an all star with a highlight video but I can appreciate your positivity.

All the highlight videos still don’t negate the fact that they could have used the pick for another player and bought a second rounder and picked this dude up on the cheap.

Dude, we at least have some hope with the Raiders this time. Brady will be good for the franchise. Loved our offseason.
Loved our off-season too, Wilkins back in a boot sucks though. I definitely trust in Tom/Spy/Pete.

I have a feeling they’re going to trade into the second round tomorrow — Penda being their guy
I don't think they're going to trade in, but agree that if they do, it'll be for Penda (AKA Collin Murré-Boyles), whom we had in to work out both this year and last. Have to get one of Charlotte's two picks to land him. Could offer both the seconds we just got from Memphis.

Also a possibility (if we can't get such a high second rounder): Toohey.

I don’t think we need more players unless it’s a shooter.
Chaz Lanier? John Tonje? Both "super seniors". I like the sound of Tonje. But if we're going guards, I'd prefer Kam Jones.

HOWEVER: FO probably agrees with your "I don't think we need any more players" view.

Don’t get me wrong I’d still like Fleming lol I’m just seeing log jams already. I’d like a consolidation trade honestly. Also I think IF Grant is traded we are gonna bring back multiple players.

I wish someone would have brought up Clingan. They can’t play together, so wtf? Interesting that he pointed to this summer when asked about the roster. He made it sound like more moves to come

Someone bringing up Clingan would have been good. They did bring up the log jam of centers and Cronin basically said if they end up going into the season with 5 centers they would figure it out.

He did sound like he wasn't finished both with the Jrue trade and others.

Best rating i found on that pick at 16 was a D-.
Pretty much could have bought a late second rounder and got that dude.
He's big yes but slow and can't shoot. He's worse than a Tall Slow White Center. Thanks @Mediocre Man
It's even worse thinking they just used their pick last year on Donovan Clingan who is also a Tall Slow White Center that is slow and can't really shoot.

Now lets think about If they really wanted a Center for some reason? The very next pick by the T-Wolves netted Beringer.

Someone please explain an upside to this pick. It's literally been given the lable of the worst pick in this years first round.

Just kind of seems like this pick was for Chinese exposure.

Minnesota was going to take Yang at #17. He wouldn't have been there any later. The Twolves had to recalibrate and pick Beringer. Tim Connelly, the president of the Timberwolves who was with Denver when they picked Jokic, wanted Yang badly. He saw what the Blazers saw. So, hopefully it's not fools gold, and down the road this will be the steal of the draft.

Correct FAMS! I did one for Dan Dickau that made him look like Stockton 2.0 and I’ll never forget the masterpiece I did for whatever the dude’s name was from Washington State with the huge hair a couple years ago…..if the right people see it, he’s headed straight to the HOF!

He should go to the HOF simply because you correctly spelled masterpiece, FAMS.

It’s like in college recruiting, the coaches and scouts want to see game footage, not highlight packs. They want to see how they play off the ball for example. Highlight packs are great for fans and families though.

CJ Elleby!

Dude started 28 games for us. Last year Scoot started 10.

Are Blazer fans hoping in his 3rd year as a much hyped #3 overall pick Scoot can have as big of a role as CJ Elleby did for us? Probably unlikely with Jrue slotted in the starting PG spot though.

You know this how?

Please tell me you didn’t find all of that out from the you tube guys.

I just don't get it.... this isn't what the league is doing anymore. Drafting two players of basically the same exact mold in back to back seasons smacks of......... Neil fucking Olshey.

Dame and then CJ.

I didn't understand it when we drafted CJ either. Yeah he's a good player...... it was a bad fit. Why draft another short ball dominant guard? So is big ass, slow, lumbering centers gonna be Joe's thing? Neil could only draft short scoring guards and Joe only wants to draft big ass centers?
So, suddenly you don't believe in BPA?

The data is out. This is wrong. Minny was sniped, and they're not happy about it.

No.

Saw some tweets and such about it. Cronin touched on it I think. It's out there. It's real. Minny wanted him. We snatched him away right in time. Hopefully, it pans out.

can't really go by the 48 three's he shot in 45 games:

basically the FIBA and NCAA three point line. So, he can shoot from outside, just not very well. And that release of his is really slow and not much elevation on his jump shot. He's gonna get blocked a lot

as I said in another post, he's slow-footed like Clingan/Edey/Nurkic/Lopez/Zubac. That doesn't mean he can't be effective but he sure isn't mobile enough to switch the perimeter and defend dribble-drives that start on the perimeter

Well there has to be something to the fact that I have read multiple times from multiple sources that Joe Cronin is usually the smartest guy in the room. Also that Mike is a world class talent evaluator.
Let’s hope this does pan out well.

Dude started 28 games for us.

On a team that won 27 games and had injuries to Dame, traded CJ, integrated Hart etc... on the roster during a tanking season

Not sure what any of this has anything to do with Scoot which is a part of the future and needs to earn his play time

I'd like to forget CJ Elleby. Bad bad year. The only season I can think of worse was probably the year we had Viktor Khryapa, Victor Claver, and Joel Freeland. Though we won one more game that year than CJs year. Felt worse though.

Yeah, the extra distance at the top of the key will take a while to get used to. He might have to start out from the corners.

And there is no doubt his 3-point release is slow. But I doubt he will get it blocked. More than likely, if someone is on him or running at him, he just won't shoot it. But we see all the time where the centers are left wide open from that distance.

that one workout video showed him shooting mid-range with the same slow release and no elevation on his jump shots. He was leaning forward too

I'm trying to remember if Tiago Spliltter had a jump shot...?
