I worry about the bigs. Just not seeing how ANY can play 35 min a game. Timelord would be injured in 2 games, if he ever plays, same for Clingan. Yang will foul out every game. Not liking it.
But we knew this TWO months ago. How anybody thought we were going to be OK in the post with the talent we have was/is/are absolutely clueless. And if I’m not mistaken, we just played a team that arguably has the weakest inside presence in the league.

No way Fams. Yang is gonna be an all star out the gate. We fleeced everyone in the draft.

I think they’ll be games like last nights that playing our centers don’t make a lot of sense and we’ll play small ball with Grant at center
I'd be totally fine with putting Grant on the bench and he can take turns with Yang for the backup center role.

And this is what we were saying for the past two months. And there is NOTHING wrong with that. That’s what you’d expect. Plain and simple.

Bro, you had this kid with one foot into an all star spot just last week and attacked me for questioning that ludicrous opinion. He did exactly what I said he would to you in my reply. You need to check yourself coming in here swinging the way you did. Unrealistic not thought out uneducated takes is the only thing that sucks around here. Just slow your roll and let the kid grow at his pace. We gave up DA and we will really notice it this season. Wait til we play a team that actually has a low post presence.
I LOVED not having Ayton or Simons lasts night. The starters offense and especially defense was amazing with this new group. As much as I prefer not having Grant start he's light years better to have on the roster than Ayton.

I have zero concern about giving up DA. I'd take 82 games of Yang poor play last night over DA shit effort for every game if it came to it. Funny that you mention Yang struggles as if any fans here want DA back.

If Yang really struggles for long stretches at backup C we can put Reath in or get a Jabari Walker style small ball. Any of those options are better than Ayton trash efforts the last two years.

The Chinese kid will be playing G league. Bet on it. He’s way outta his league at this point.
It’s the only way to get him enough playing time for him to even begin to get a feel for the NBA game.
At this point I’m hoping it wasn’t a wasted pick.
He was absolutely atrocious.
At least he’s a good kid that they say will work hard.
If he wants to play like Jokic, the first thing he needs to do is develop a very reliable short range shot. Everything Jokic does depends on that. Right now he has nothing.

I saw Clingan making great efforts defensively and picking his spots well on offense. The team defense was very impressive at times. The ball moved well on offense and didn't have a center jacking up inefficient long 2 pt jumpers.

Zero concerns about moving on from Ayton. Not sure what game you were watching.

Maybe Yang will have some struggles on the third string. Who the hell cares.

OUT OF YOUR FUCKING MIND! You actually standing on this statement? You actually feel this way? Check this shit bro! This is straight up JinxSpeed type level bullshit!
Were you scared to have JJ Hickson or Whitesite leave the Blazers? They were trash starting centers as well but put more effort on both ends than Ayton.

I don't understand your infatuation with Ayton. Perhaps its because you only judge players worth by their PPG.

Something that was very telling was one of his fouls last night where he had no idea it was him because he didn't understand what was being called. Then the next play he was caught completely out of position and then on the way back down on offense was clueless where to go. Billups was simply at a loss for how to direct him. They better hire a coach from China that can speak English quick so things can be conveyed while he is on the court.

we'll see I guess but I just don't think Camara will develop the same level of ball-handling that Butler had/has

now, it's possible that Camara might develop a similar 'quick-relay' passing game like Batum had. Nic didn't utilize dribbling as a facilitator; he used court vision and quick passes.
My point isn't that it's likely or even reasonable to expect anything like a Butler-like career out of Camara. Simply that Butler is actually a perfect example of the fact that who a player is at 25 isn't necessarily who they'll be at 35.

Which part is wrong?
  • That we don't want 35 mpg out of any of our centers?
  • That we have versatility in our center rotation?
  • That versatility in our center rotation is good?
Bear in mind that I never said that our centers are "good" overall, or even above-average, or even sufficient to be a playoff team.

X factor is how many games we can get out of Rob Williams and how much of a leap Duop makes this season with some burn.

None of it…. Just wanted to bicker this morning.

I fucking hate DA! Thats how bad our current situation is. And this is the last time I will talk about our center situation with you ever again. You lost ALL credibility with me based on your last post alone. Holler at me w=once you realize that might go down as MAYBE the worst take ever on this forum. And that takes some work.

Duop Reath is 29 - guy isn't going to making any Leap.

Rob Williams played 26 games total the last two years.

So I think we know the answer to both those questions - not much of a difference.

You keep talking about how so many posters here are going to miss a center like DA.

I'm just telling you no - I won't. Many other posters echo similar opinions.

To me it doesn't matter if both Clingan and Yang are solid or if they both totally flop. I hated watching DA play basketball for the team I rooted for. I can't think of a Blazers center that ever gave worse defensive effort. It reminds me of the pain of watching Felton eat cupcakes or Damon Stoudamire pound the rock. I'm super glad Ayton is gone and could care less even if it costs us numerous wins (which I doubt it will).

Reath hasn't been beat up in the NBA or College since he's 18 like a lot of bigs....at 29 he's not ageing out...he's super low mileage. He's got another 4 years of prime time. He's also got a new big man coach in Splitter. I saw Reath put up 38 pts in the G league. Rob, you might be right about but if he miraculously plays 70 games he's an X factor over Yang at this point.

simple hand signals would be the way I would approach. Anything complicated they can discuss during timeout or when he’s out.

I just remembered Thybulle is a Blazer. How about that?

Say less. I have this in my back pocket. You’ll take Yang’s stat line from last night over anything DA does this season with the Lakers. We got it. You feel Yang will help us win more games this season than DA would have. Say less.
