Some of the reactions on X are idiotic, talking about how Jrue made a dirty play on Wemby. (Undercutting him)
Wemby just plain tripped over his own feet. Which is probably not hard to do when you wear a size 20 1/2

Counting the three playoff games, the Blazers have had six players score at least 30 points in a game this season. Five Blazers have scored 30 at least twice this season.

We almost had two others. Clingan had a 28-point game. Love had a 26-point game off the bench.

I'm not sure how many other playoff teams can say that. I'm not sure if there are any. Maybe Boston. For instance, the Spurs have had five, and almost all of their 30-point games were from one guy. It looks like Wembanyama has 17 of their 24 30-point games all season.

I see why Sharpe didn’t play in the clutch. He was getting abused down low in the third and didn’t seem mad about it. Then the shove that got challenged. A near-turnover on a lazy pass. He looked uninterested out there.
Nah, Scoot was on fire and they needed Jrue vet leadership and calm out there. Numbers game…….

He also has missed 11, 36 and 18 games in his first three seasons.

I get a little amused by people diminishing the win because Wembanyama injured himself when the NBA is a team game. He's not always on the floor. Being available is a trait. The Blazers overcame a lot of injuries to make the playoffs this year because they have a roster with multiple guys who can carry the load and multiple ways to win. Our biggest star's only action this year was the All-Star 3-point shooting contest. I haven't heard any other fan bases minimalizing their own accomplishments because they'd have lost to us if Damian Lillard played or Scoot didn't miss 50 games or Shaedon didn't miss the last two months or Jrue was unavailable for several weeks, same as I don't remember teams in 1978 saying no one should be happy about winning the championship because the Blazers would have gone back-to-back if not for Walton's chronic foot issues.

At the very least, a young Blazers team earned a sixth playoff game this year because they were constructed to be able to give themselves a chance even if their top players weren't playing well and they didn't give up down 14 on the road in the fourth quarter.

Why people always try to downplay their own happiness and act like it somehow makes them more realistic or mature always was weird to me. A lot of times, that's not realism, it's just pessimism.
STOP

If Deni was out, this place would be making excuses NONSTOP. Just enjoy the win.

Ita interesting - but not sure this has anything to do with how good or how deep a team is. 72 win Bulls and 73 win Warriors might have only had two guys.

A deep team might have guys score 14ppg that could score 30 on a crappy team.

Some of the Blazers 99/00 teams were awesome and deep but few guys were scoring 30+. Same for peak Drexler Blazers.

They keep calling Scoot by his real first name and it feels like an insult
No way, that is dope.

I call CJ, “Christian James”

The only player who didn’t like that was LA. I called him LaMarcus once…..he looked at me and said. “Bro only my mom and grandma call me that!”

So you started calling him "The Marcus" after

Some of the takes in here about Sharpe remind me of the same things people were saying about Scoot his first handful of games back from injury.

If people want to deny that a team missing a first team ALL NBA guy, DPOY candidate freak show isnt newsworthy or a major reason for beating them, thats fine. Its not reality, but fine. If its hurting people's feelings so be it. I sure do remember plenty of people whining about Blazer injuries as a reason for losing games. But when they win because of injuries everyone should shut up and ignore it.

yeah, good comparison

The freshly DPOY in his prime vs a 36 years old guard who just tore his achilles

Holiday has troubles defending Fox/Harper/Castle, imagine Lillard defending them

Maybe even with Sharpe...

Lillard/Sharpe would be like a red carpet to the basket
How about an all star with playoff experience and a history of hitting huge shots.

So playoff games we lost when our stars got hurt no longer count?!
I'm trying to think of playoff games Portland lost with their star(s) out. Dame played in all the games; so did Aldridge. Matthews was out one season in the playoffs, but he sure wasn't a star; certainly not a franchise player like Wemby. The Pippen-Rasheed-Sabonis team seemed pretty healthy during their short run. The Drexler team was generally a squad of iron-men. Might have to go back to 1978, the year after the title, when Walton & Lucas missed games. Pretty sure those games counted, just like last night's game.

I'm having a hard time making any sense of your question. Seems like a lot of people are giddy about Portland beating the Spurs after Wemby got hurt. That's fine, it was a fun game where Portland made plays in clutch time and the Spurs didn't. But there seems to be a lot of hope that Wemby misses both games in Portland. I don't share that sentiment. As I said, I want Portland to win against a healthy Spurs team, and as a BB fan, I like to watch Wemby play

Enes Kanter with a broken collarbone replacing a broken Nurk in the playoffs is one
