It started as an innocent enough play: Victor Wembanyama had guard Jrue Holiday on him and Wemby tried a spin move to get around (or through) his defender to get to the rim. Holiday pulled the chair on him, and in doing so tripped Wembanyama, who went to the ground — but Wemby tried to pass the ball so his hands could not protect his head, and he fell face-first onto the court.

Here's the so-called article:

Literal horseshit. Jrue didn't touch Wemby, let alone trip him.

Jrue moved out of the way as not to get the foul. He can't help how Wemby throws himself around.

Anybody else think about how it is an odd rarity for us to face the Spurs in the playoffs? For all the years San Antonio and Portland have been in the playoffs… Feels like an anomaly.

Blazers are built for the playoffs. We just need Dame and Vit to kill from deep next season and guys like Clingon, Scoot, and Shae to take the next step.

For Scoot the next step is consistency, and maybe taking more shots.

He's already shown he can be an efficient scoring option.

I remember the last 2 very well. Our last game in SA before this series, we lost to a Sean Elliott 3. Before that, it was the end of an era series in 1993. And before that, the 7 game series in 1990 where Rod Strickland threw the ball over his head for a TO that brought Blazers back from 7 down in the last 2 minutes. The home team won every game in that series.

In neither game were Blazers really clicking. Deni tried to carry the team Game 1 with little help. Scoot shone yesterday with supporting players. Could the Blazers get Deni and Scoot hot and Donovan back on track?

there was some contact but it was mostly inadvertent contract initiated by Wemby's out of control spin move. He's an amazing athlete but he's so damn long and at times moves awkwardly. This was one of those times. It was unfortunate but Jrue shouldn't get any blame

I'm trying to think of playoff games Portland lost with their star(s) out. Dame played in all the games; so did Aldridge. Matthews was out one season in the playoffs, but he sure wasn't a star; certainly not a franchise player like Wemby. The Pippen-Rasheed-Sabonis team seemed pretty healthy during their short run. The Drexler team was generally a squad of iron-men. Might have to go back to 1978, the year after the title, when Walton & Lucas missed games. Pretty sure those games counted, just like last night's game.

I'm having a hard time making any sense of your question. Seems like a lot of people are giddy about Portland beating the Spurs after Wemby got hurt. That's fine, it was a fun game where Portland made plays in clutch time and the Spurs didn't. But there seems to be a lot of hope that Wemby misses both games in Portland. I don't share that sentiment. As I said, I want Portland to win against a healthy Spurs team, and as a BB fan, I like to watch Wemby play
I just want Portland to win. We are not the same.

I’m going to just really enjoy that win and take the rest one game at a time.
This is NBA playoff basketball. Players play harder and more physical. Injuries happen. I’m very glad Wemby was not more seriously hurt. Wish him all the best and a speedy recovery.

Kjironman is a fan!!!
Go Blazers!

Sure I want him to recover, but this is a gift. Nobody cried for us when Oden and Roy went down and the dynasty that never was got strangled in the crib. I have no sympathy for probably the luckiest team in the entire league. Wemby is fine he just will miss a few games. The Spurs have a decade of contention ahead of them to add to the prior almost 20 year stint with Duncan. Honestly fuck the Spurs they have had enough luck for a century.
