Since the Blazers have no control over who plays for the Spurs, they need to concentrate on what they do control. Take care of the ball. Make your free throws.
And pull the chair out on Wemby. Not to hurt him, just to make him think twice about being out of control.

Blazer players are not there to break his fall, as he seems to be expecting.

SA is just trying to get the Blazers to spend time focusing on how to defend/avoid him. He is one of the few players for whom you absolutely have to change your game plan for......... offensively and defensively. He is not playing tonight. Probably not Sunday at noon either. They know that even if they lose both in Portland, they can come back from it. Although that would make for an intense game 6.

Why wouldn't the Trail Blazers do the same with Damian Lillard?

Because Dame can't shut down a team from attacking the basket?
I understand that was a bit rhetorical

but....Portland had 42 points-in-paint in game 1 and only 40 in game 2. They did shoot 11 more FT's in game 2. Spurs had 5 blocks in each game

direct from my colon:

if Wemby doesn't play, Blazers 62.7% chance of winning
if Wemby does play, Blazers 50.8% chance of winning

consider source before touching post

I am glad they were persistent, but what was the shooting percentage inside the paint for each game?
