- This team is not built for the brand of uptempo basketball we're seeing from them. Deni is built for uptempo basketball but the rest of the team isn't. I don't know if old Dame would be, either. Maybe Toumani, if he were more consistent. Now, they can play uptempo basketball but because they're a terrible shooting team and commit far too many turnovers, they're just giving the other team extra possessions.

- I feel part of the reason, too, is that the team gets way too tired and their legs get weak after the half due to all the chaotic movement on both ends as they desperately try to generate offense. Hence, a 3rd quarter collapse is synonymous with Blazers basketball (Portland is the worst 3rd quarter team of the 16 playoff teams). For all the talk of making them feel uncomfortable and playing scrappy defense, it goes both ways. The pitfall here would be becoming like George Foreman versus Muhammad Ali's rope-a-dope strategy.

Need to find better ways to conserve energy while having the lead.

- Tiago was outcoached. This is another game where he should've called timeout sooner in the 3rd & made adjustments when the lead hit 10-12. By the time he made adjustments, it was too late and he played right into the Spurs hands as the lead was already too close to successfully play at a slower pace. While Portland was making buckets at that slower pace, it was simply trading buckets to tie or take a one posession lead rather than ensuring the lead remained stable in the double digits. When you play that game, a less exhausted Spurs and an MVP candidate in Wemby can exploit that.

- Sharpe should've played 20+ minutes rather than 13 minutes, especially in the 3rd and maybe even 4th. Even if his defense was exploited on a few plays, the Spurs were going to score regardless. And if Portland couldn't score? Well, offense wins championships, too. Just bad overall mismangement of Sharpe and I think, if Portland mismanages him to the point where he becomes a trade piece under new ownership? I think that Portland's loss will be similar to how the Wizards mismanaged Deni despite him demonstrating 17ppg Per 36.

- Clingan? I'm a little disappointed but he's a 2nd year player who is primed to be Gobert 2.0. Gobert didn't become consistently reliable until 3-4 years into his career. Even then, he was supposed to be have been obsolete a few years ago....but is currently giving Jokic fits. So I'd relax on him. We're already seeing flashes of how he slows down guys in the paint, which is a good thing. Here's hoping he continues to improve.

- I do hope the Pelicans pick remains in the 7-10 range. Top 4-5 and it is simply unforgivable. Why? Well, look at the Spurs, Thunder, Pistons, etc. Those are NBA teams built with a ton of draft picks.

- In all honesty, Portland is where the Pistons and Rockets were, 1-2 years ago. It's possible they're a Top 3-4 team in 2027 or 2028, with some minor adjustments and Dame's return. Even prior to Chet's arrival a few years back, the Thunder were a 40-42 team. Maybe the Bucks pick wins the day here for Portland.
