I never said anything about winning. I'm talking about the way we played, scoring droughts and 30+ point swings - at home. I didn't expect us to win. But I sure as hell didn't expect losing games that we had a great chance to win in horrible fashion. I've been a Blazers fan for a long time (40+ years), been on this board a long time and I know enough about basketball to see what happened so I'm not sure why you felt the need to question my basketball knowledge over extremely valid complaints. You may have expected us to lose (as did I) but if those games didn't frustrate you then I dont know what to say. My poor choice of words in using “livid“ doesn't change how they played.
Basketball is a game of runs sir. No such thing as a good loss. We were supposed to lose and we did. Unarguable facts.

There may not be such things as good losses, but there sure as hell are bad ones. Those are the ones where you see the ugly warts of the shortcomings of your team on full display.

I don’t think the Blazers gave up or lacked effort, it was just that the Spurs were good enough to magnify the lack of three point shooting and ridiculous turnovers that have plagued the Blazers all season. Against lesser teams lacking a monster like Wemby, Deni’s drives have kept the Blazers in games. The Blazers’ awful ball control has been offset by their own ability to force turnovers. Wemby shut down the middle and the Spurs were solid in avoiding turnovers. They are the dominant team and deserve to win this series, but the way they handled the Blazers on their home court shows that the Blazers have major flaws that need to be addressed in the offseason.

you sure?

I wonder if Minny would prefer being in a 2-2 series with a healthy Edwards and DiVincenzo than being up 3-1 with those guys essentially out of the playoffs
Oh so your saying the win came WITH those injuries?

Were the Trail Blazers supposed to be ahead by 17 points at halftime?

What changes to start the 3rd quarter did the Blazers' coaching staff make to at least try everything in their power to prevent a scoring drought and keep pace with the Spurs?

Did they go small? Did they go up-tempo? Add more shooters? Anything?

Boston wouldn't.
I don't think I would either but I'm still hoping that we're aiming at a window that's in Scoot's prime. If we're trying to win now the move would be great for us but since Boston is definitely in win now mode the move makes no sense for them.

Playoffs really expose teams and players especially when you play really good teams.

Obviously 3 point shooting has really hurt us but I still say mid range is underrated especially against Spurs and Wemby. Pulling Wemby out to help opens the baseline behind him. It also helps with offensive rebounds.

This is bad match up for Clingan, on offense we need him hitting 3’s to drag em by out to 3 point line. On defense he can’t guard Wemby which means he has to guard another player who is also a mismatch. Can’t have Yan and Clingan as our two centers next year.

Huge Sharpe fan but almost feels likes he’s a 22 year who is pouting for not getting to start and or play many minutes. When he lost the ball yesterday on his dribble watched a teammate dive as his feet to get ball as he just watched over them, tells me its lack of effort. Obviously coming off injury maybe is the problem but coming off injury has nothing to do with lack of effort.

Grant I just can’t stand his game….drive head down and then take extremely hard shot. Also for a guy his length and size doesn’t rebound or get many deflections

Deni has been very good but don’t think he’s a number one for championship team which is still a major concern since none of our young guys have made a big step to be a star.

In the end this series is still great for us win or lose we got to see who each player is and what we need to make the jump to compete with the elite teams. Spurs are a championship contender.

Sad to say but are we better off building around our vets? Take 2 seasons with our vets then rebuild again, ugh. Dame, Jrue, Toumani, Deni, player in trade like Wemby and few vets . I’m not seeing the young guy we can build around after tanking for the last 5 seasons.

Sorry not trying to be overly dramatic after few losses but trying to be realistic with where we are as team.

Why wouldn’t u?

Would ya trade scoot for Payton Pritchard? I’d love to do that
No I don’t think Scoot is done. He’s only just now starting to show what he can do.
Pritchard isn’t getting better. He is what he is. He’s a smart player that shoots well with decent handles. Scoot has three more years of growth in this league at least.

Agreed, Scoot is 22, and he's trending in the right direction. In the first half of Friday's game he was on a heater. He has all the physical tools.

By 25 Scoot might be unstoppable. Every aspect of his game has improved. Remember he missed 80% of this season.
Despite scoring zero points yesterday I have been very impressed with his growth. I want to see him grow with the team, as long as the team is good enough to keep him.
