If all of the above is true, I have to side with Cronin. Dame would have been a massive distraction. It was best to do before training camp. If he would have publicly rescinded his trade request, that may have been a different story.

It was clear from the Haynes piece that Dame still wanted to go to Miami even when he said he wanted to come back. With that request remaining unresolved, I don't see how any offers from the Heat would improve.
