Stamp Out Hunger, the 26th Annual National Association of Letter Carriers food drive is Saturday, May 12th. Letter carriers across the country will collect food donations as they deliver mail along their route. We hope to collect over a million pounds of food for Oregon and Clark County, WA during this one day event.

Leave your canned food donations out for you letter carrier to pick up using the bag provided through your mail service. Or make a monetary donation at a Wells Fargo ATM.

All food and funds raised benefits the Oregon Food Bank Network.

This will be the 11th year that I've been in involved in this. It's the largest one day food drive in Oregon. Again this year I'm in charge of the Multnomah Village Post Office and will be leading a group of 40 volunteers. While the letter carriers pick up the donated food on their routes it's up to the volunteers to take it from the vehicles, sort it, pack it and load it to be shipped back to the Oregon Food Bank.

Please, even if it's just a couple of cans please donate tomorrow. It's a great cause!

Also I am authorized to sign any Community Service forums for high school, college and criminals if you wish to volunteer and receive credit for the hours worked.

Not just Oregon, I found a bag in my mailbox. Tried to concentrate on protein sources since I know too many people donate crackers - tuna, beans, chicken soup, minestrone, peanut butter, also some oatmeal & cans of fruit.

Come on, donate some food you stingy bastards!

Got my bag ready to go! My daughter helped my wife pick out a bunch of stuff to fill it tonight.

That's great! Tell your daughter thanks!
She loves getting involved in these things. Her (my) school makes meals for a shelter every other month, and she's really enjoyed going to help serve that evening.

My father was a 20 year postal carrier. Every xmas we would be overwhelmed with gifts and food baskets from the people on his route.

I am well aware of how much food the post office picks up. Tons of food. Literally. Its a great cause. We fill up a couple bags every year.

We give every year and we try and make it something delicious. Sadly, we forgot, yesterday.

You can still put a bag out for your letter carrier to pick up tomorrow.

Native American ancestry + alcoholic father = very little alcohol for me except once in a while.
I've got alcoholics everywhere in my family, also. Also a lot of Native American blood in the family on my father's side.

I use to drink a lot but now find myself only wanting about 1 drink a week. My wife also use to drink quite a bit but now drinks about the same as me. Why? I've no idea. My alcoholic relatives are now long passed away. They also lived about 2,500 miles from me so I had little interaction.

Anyhow, your description touched me and I wish you the best.

My father stopped drinking several years ago so I guess I shouldn't call him an alcoholic anymore.
