Need the circle game implemented. I invented it in high school. The part of the half court graphic closest to hoop his 4 points. The half court line is 5 points and the part of circle on the opposing teams court farthest from your hoop is 6 points. A right handed hook from the same spot is double and a left handed hook is triple. This rule might need to be modified with left handed hookers in the nba. I always won cause i shoot a higher percentage half court hook than meyers leonard shoots regular 3s in games that matter.
They just need to allow 90's defense again.
3 point % are so high right now because no one is allowed to touch soft players like Steph Curry when they are behind the 3 point line. You put your hand on him - he jumps for the shot and it's an automatic foul, if he puts the ball to the floor and you touch him it's a foul because you interrupt his movement, if you stand too close to him he can jump into you and it's a foul or he can just shoot it and fall on his ass afterwards (aka The Jamal Crawford special).
How crazy is that? defenders are just too timid to do anything nowadays.
Big guys however, are not as protected under NBA rules:
Basically, this whole problem exists because people like Adam Silver who only care about ratings and revenue are sitting at the helm.
Their ignorance dictates that:
90's basketball = ugly and boring. No one likes to watch post plays.
Two teams having a 3 point contest = Exciting and good for business.
With all of the long range gunners out there these days, I don't think the three point shot is even needed to spread the floor. Guys like Lillard and Curry will keep firing away if you leave them unguarded. Plus, those corner threes are a joke. I can make that shot all day long.Don't want to get rid of it completely, because it helps with spreading the floor, but I wouldn't be opposed to moving it back to 25 ft, and removing the sideline break in the arc so as to eliminate the corner 3.
Now I understand why you only post about politics in the OT section. Stay thereHere's a crazy/stupid suggestion: get rid of the 3 point shot.
Why? Because it's taking over! The percentage of a team's shots that are 3-pointers has risen precipitously in recent years (somebody else can research the full details - I'm too lazy) and I just don't like it. Do I not like it because it makes Golden State effectively unbeatable? Maybe. But also because I just don't like watching nothing but long jumpers.
Downside: big leads would be unassailable. But as we're usually the ones giving UP big leads, I don't mind. And besides, BUILDING a big lead would be harder.
As it is, the big men have been effectively rendered obsolete. Pity the poor Okafors, Kanters, Marjanovics and Monroes, who would be much sought-after in prior eras. Now we get every 7-footer practicing his 3-pointers. It's unnatural! Where can tall people go if not into basketball?
Who's with me!

Hand checking first changed in 94 and it's a good change. It's displacement and displacement is a foul and always should be.
Stop holding and move your damn feet.
But you can't give all the advantage to the offensive player while not giving any tools to the defender.
I'm not saying we need to go back to the days of the "bad boys" from Detroit, but the game needs to be balanced right now.
Why should anyone pass the ball to the big guy down low? he's clearly not enjoying the same artificial advantages as his guards.

Make a 3pt alley-oop option, if the ball is throw beyond the 3pt line and the player catching the ball doesn't touch the ground it counts for 3 points.
Having two different options to score 3 points would open the court.
Absolutely not. Ugh... You've suggested this before.
The problem with this is that it would make a pass to anyone from 3 point range to anyone in 2 point range for a 3.
That would not only drive the statisticians NUTS, it would look incredibly foolish and not like basketball at all.
So I'm right past the 3, I throw a 5 foot lob to whoever the fuck, and they throw it in from anywhere inside the 3.
Think about how ugly that would look.
Sergio Rodriguez to Rudy Fernandez, shit that was threes all dayMake a 3pt alley-oop option, if the ball is throw beyond the 3pt line and the player catching the ball doesn't touch the ground it counts for 3 points.

Make it so the player receiving the alley-oop as to be inside the restricted area.
Problem solved.

Try reffing that bullshit. It would literally take 3-4 questions to determine if it's a 3.
Here's the main reason why it would never happen.
One ref would not be able to call it. The trail or the Center would have to look at the feet of the passer and the shooter/dunker's feet would need to be looked at by the Lead official.
It just wouldn't work IMO.
I'd bet dollars to doughnuts Rudy jumped from outside the restricted line every time on most of those dunks.
We have 3 refs and cameras over the courts at every arena.
This is just wrong. It's not giving the advantage at all. Move your feet. You should not be able to hold someone. This ain't football.
MFs want handchecking but don't want to be handchecked...
okay, then those would count for 2pts.
See, it wasn't that hard.
"Hand Checking:
A defender may not place and keep his hand on an opponent unless he is in the area near the basket and the offensive player has his back to the basket. A defender may momentarily touch an opponent with his hand anywhere on the court as long as it does not affect the opponent’s movement (speed, quickness, balance, rhythm). "

So it's ok to touch post players who play with their back to the basket, but it's not ok to do it to Curry if he's behind the 3 point line.
Also, each referee can give his own personal interpretation to what's "affecting the opponent’s movement".
I don't see what's the big deal with allowing some contact when a player is getting the ball and he's in a triple threat position. No holding, no touching with both hands, just stop calling bullshit fouls.
Cameras don't do anything real time. And no 3 refs couldn't ref that.
You're not listening. Only one ref refs a bucket. Meaning, If I'm the trail and I have a drive to the bucket, I take the primary matchup all the way to the hoop.
2 referees don't referee a score.
HERE are some crazy thoughts:
1) When a player is fouled, the opposing team can choose any player on the fouled player's team that is currently in the game to shoot the "free throw."
2) Institute the 1 and 1 bonus, like in college.
3) Any attempt to fool the officials is reviewable, and the penalty is a technical or double technical depending on the severity of the obfuscation. Additional penalties could include fines and suspensions. Examples: shooting the ball well after a foul has been made, flopping, intentional fouling when the ref is looking away...
Cameras don't do anything real time.
I bet in 10 years this will be a more interesting conversation, but yeah, alley-oop threes should stay in Harlem Globetrotters land for now.
