three years from now, do you think we will be looking back on this trade deadline pissed that we missed out on Wallace/RJeff/Carter or do you think we will be singing KP's praises that he had the forethought to hang tough and keep Bayless and Batum?

We have no idea what was "missed out on," if anything, because we don't know what deals were available.

Nope. We'll probably look back at most past deadlines and think "huh, boy did people overreact" as we're leading the league in wins for the 2nd straight year, in the afterglow of our 2nd title in franchise history. :)

I think we'll look back and find a bunch of posts where people claimed things that turned out, with the benefit of hindsight, to be completely ridiculous, and we'll bump those threads so that we can all have a good laugh.

NOPE! everyone will be too busy moaning about something else.

:dunno: 50/50. Given their relative draft positions, the odds of either of them (let alone both) becoming even borderline all-stars is pretty slim. We should be happy if they both become "just" solid starters. Nice to have - but hardly untouchable.

I don't have the slightest idea what is going to happen in the next 3 games, much less 3 years from now.

This non-trade will probably not be as big a deal to me as not drafting CP3. That is one thing I will probably never actually get over.

I do think KP should have pulled something off if it was at all possible. The longer we wait, the more chances there are of career ending injuries, losses to free agency, other teams getting better, ect...

we will lust after Carter, as we get knocked out of the playoffs.

Jesus Christ

You don't half put on a moan do you?

JUST SAY IT!

"This is the worst day in Blazers history"

Some of you need to seriously get a grip.

It's starting to be funny now though, so carry on.

Call me a homer or whatever you want, I'm glad we kept Batum & Bayless. I think the upside of all of our guys hitting their prime at the same time after playing together for years will be something we'll all be proud of. I think it would have been dumb to make a move for the short-term benefit while sacraficing the long-term vision.

It's a good deal for the blazers, by the time Bayless is ready to contribute hopefully Oden will be healed and you guys can go on a run.

3 years from now, we'll be glad we kept everyone. Just like Dallas would be glad right now if they had kept Harris.

In three years, a lineup of Bayless, Roy, Batum, Aldridge and Oden will be better than anyone we could have traded for yesterday.

If we can't get a quality player in the summer, that's when I'll be pissed at the lack of trade at the deadline.

The lack of trade tell me they don't care about making noise in the playoffs the year and will be happy just to get in. Let's for KP and Nate that still happens.

I don't recall saying it was the worst day in Blazers history. There have been many, many worse events then this. A particular Laker game comes to mind. Or getting swept at home by Detroit.

I am just not drinking the kool-aid of wait 3 years then we will be a great team. That is an absurd statement to make, since in the next 3 years damn near anything can happen. IF Portland had a chance to become a very good team now then they should have taken it over the fools gold of three years from now. They are making a huge number of assumptions when they say that like it is a fact. Things like "LA will become an All-Star level 4", "Batum will blossom into a Tayshawn Prince clone", "Oden will get all better and dominate the paint", or "B-Roy will not get crippled having to carry this team on his back.". None of those things are a given, and some are really unlikely.

I'm glad we kept our young guys. I'm not glad we kept Blake, Frye, Outlaw or RLEC.

:ghoti:

Batum, Bayless, and even Webster will have more of an opportunity to develop now, and will be key peices to our championship team in 3 years.

Doesn't the Mayan calendar end in 3 years? In that case, the end of the world will nigh and we'll all be living in our bunkers, donning spiky shoulder pads and radiation suits to go out into the wasteland to forage for 'petrol' in our souped up dune buggies.

We will be crying as the Sacramento Kings finals MVP, Ike Diogu is celebrated in songs and dances around the country while big statues in his honors are erected in parks and village centers. Michael Jordan will vacate his HOF spot - to allow Ike in - mumbling "I am not worthy, I am not worthy" while the people of NY will be calling to fire Walsh as he had a chance at Ike but decided to go for that LeBron fellow instead.

I guess I got the dates wrong. That's how I live now. Certainly explains the funny looks I get.

Agree on everything except Blake. I think he's a perfect compliment to Brandon because you can still have Brandon handle the ball and make Blake a de facto shooting guard to spread the floor. And if you look at most of the close games we won in the first half, that was the backcourt we featured late in those games.

And what if he was the block to getting Hinrich? I like Steve, but Kirk does everything he does plus play lockdown on-the-ball defense.
