OT 30 for 30: Lakers and Celtics

I found the attempts at city/franchise trash talking by Ice Cube and Marky Mark to be continually embarrassing. Other than, it's a fun watch.

Well, C's pretty much own the Lakers, historically.

Not really relevant to the fact that their attempts at trash talk were embarrassing.

As far as whether the Celtics own the Lakers--I can't say I care, but they basically owned them in one period of NBA history--the 1960s--before the modern era. The Lakers pretty clearly "won" the '80s (5 titles to 3, 2-1 in the head-to-head Finals) and have been much more successful since then overall (5 titles to 1, splitting the head-to-head Finals).

It's Donny player and that makes it worse.

I'd rather have the C's history. But yeah, my comment was irrelevant to your point about the two douche-nozzles talking trash. Neither is irrelevant to the teams or franchises, really.

Part three has some Blazer Bill Walton mention haha

Yeah that was pretty corny.

Didn't watch much of it. But I could seriously listen to Ice Cube recite desert recipes and be completely absorbed.

This stuff really doesn't get old, no matter how many times you see it. I actually learned something new, and that was when Magic and Larry finally met in the Finals. Lakers flew in and got settled at their hotel in Boston, and I never knew about the phone calls they'd get from Boston fans, the treatment from the hotel staff, or the fire alarm being pulled after 3 in the morning to disrupt their sleep before the first game.

It got kind of annoying once they started the whole white vs black thing.

I do not think you can tell the story of that rivalry without discussing race. Like it or not, it played a major role.

The media is always debating whether Lebron or Michael were better. I do not think Lebron was as good as Magic. Loved watching how great he was again.

Ever seen Celtic Pride? Favorite line from that film.... "This drink is called Jimmy's Dick. Short, fat, but it fills the gap."

I've always maintained an argument could be made that Magic is the best ever. His combination of versatility and skill was ridiculous

Watched all three segments over the weekend. Thoroughly enjoyed the show!! Brought back many memories. I had forgotten about McHale's broken foot.
But did remember the back and forth nature of the 80's rivalry.

1980 Lakers def Sixers
1981 Celtics def Rockets
1982 Lakers def Sixers
1983 Sixers def Lakers
1984 Celtics def Lakers
1985 Lakers def Celtics
1986 Celtics def Rockets
1987 Lakers def Celtics
1988 Lakers def Pistons
1989 Pistons def Lakers

2008 Celtics def Lakers
2010 Lakers def Celtics

It's been a heck of a rivalry since the domination of those Russell-led Celtics of the 60's.

I think it's been enjoyable creating a similar rivalry between Warriors and Cavaliers the past 3 years.

Anyway....great series. Go watch it.
