That guy from Bridge of Spies really good though, did you see that one Sly?

I liked Bridge of Spies but Rylance didn't really do anything for me in that movie. I think he was the least deserving nominee. I'm actually pissed Stallone didn't win because Rocky Balboa is pretty much my favorite movie character ever, and he was great in Creed.

But Sly had 7 tries to get it right, that is not fair :) I think he would have been getting a lifetime achievement award had he won.

I heard someone say recently that "more acting isn't better acting." I thought Rylance was superb.

I've seen a lot of people say a big reason Rylance won is because he is one of the most respected theater actors in the world. That seems like more of a lifetime achievement award. I really think Rylance's performance and the movie as a whole were completely mediocre with nothing remarkable. I've seen people say he was "subtle" and "nuanced" but I didn't get that at all, and I've seen the movie twice. Agree to disagree, I guess.

Man.... we missed our chance to boycott the NBA All-Stars this year.

I mean seriously. This shit is getting ridiculous. They think they are helping but they aren't.

Whoopi Goldberg had a good snippet on the view (read an article, no I don't watch) saying if people are so butthurt about it, take it up with the producers and casting directors, not the academy awards group.

And honestly, that is the problem. Very few black actors (Denzel, Will Smith, once in a while Jamie Foxx) ever seem to get major movie roles that aren't dependent upon their blackness (also the case for Latino and Asian actors). If race is not a factor in casting the role, starring roles rarely go to non-white actors.

Why not both? Also, the Oscars are the biggest platform to take it up with producers and casting directors at.

I don't have a problem with people fighting for rights. In fact I applaud people that do. This just seems like the same old same old. This year was a bad year and probably had a couple people who should have been nominated. But if the trend continued and was so out of whack from the percentage of the US population of black people, I'd give the argument more weight.

The problem, as I see it, is that Hollywood doesn't want to spend millions on a movie without a star attached to it. This is why comedy sucks so bad right now. They won't take a chance on something new and fresh. They won't bring in any new blood. It's the same 5-6 guys making all the crappy comedies. Adam Sandler, Will Ferrell, Kevin Hart, Kevin James, Ben Stiller, etc. They won't bring up any new comedians with fresh ideas. All those great comedies in the 70's and 80's. We haven't had a great comedy in a while.

Hollywood would rather go with a sure thing. A remake (Point Break), a sequel (Independence Day Part Deux), or a comic book hero (Batman vs Superman).

That one is probably the best, and then after that one the Man with the Golden Gun is a fun, campy song. After that, it's just shitty themes until Goldeneye.

The Spy Who Loved Me's Nobody Does it Better is a dope theme song.

Also don't hate View to a Kill. Kind of cheesy but fits the time.

I only wanted DiCaprio to win thReverent.jpg

The Oscars are racist because the Indians that were in the Revenant for like a minute didn't win any awards.
