9 point quarter

Welcome to our community

Be a part of something great, join today!

Nonsense. Olshey got him enough talent to beat the Mavericks. It's on Stotts to get the W. Not Olshey. We have as much talent as most teams, if not more. Nobody put a gun to Stotts' head to start Harkless and Aminu, contracts be damned. Hood and Layman should be getting the majority of the PT.
After today I am in this camp.

We are a good team. Not a great team.

We have a good coach. Not a great coach.

We have a good back court. Not a great back court.

We’ll finish 6, 7 or 8 (barring no injuries).

We won’t get swept. We’ll win 1 or 2.

This summer the team will sell and we will go through another year with Olshey and Stotts.

Then we will have no choice but to trade Dame as his talents were wasted. Entertaining! But no promise land. Walton won a ring in Boston, Drexler got his in Houston.....and Dame will get his in.......?

Philly?
New York?
Boston?
Los Ángeles?

As much as I dont like most of this it seems plausible I guess...

BOOOOOOOOOOOOmchakalaka, that really sucked...

Maybe RipCity Two should send in a petition calling for Neil & Stotts heads since this is the official Trailblazer Message Board and the majority of the fans here want them gone. Or maybe lead a protest at One Center Court. Im sure our voices would be heard!

The Blazers lost to the Mavs scoring only 9 points in the 4th Q! This has to be one of the lowest scoring 4th Q in Blazer history, and is the result of not observing that the first 3 Q, and the end of 3rd Q 92-78 Blazer lead was explained mainly by scoring in the paint by Nurk. What we should have learned by the UTA game in which substituting Meyers for Nurk was the excellent scoring with 6 of 7 FG scoring (and 4 of 5 swish3 scoring) for 16 points in 25 min by Meyers, establishing the success of Meyers as the alternative Center. If Meyers had played instead of Zach when Nurk fouled out, perhaps for 24 instead of only 8 min, as one of the highest 3P% Blazers, and with dunk scoring, the Blazers would have probably have scored at least 17 points in that 4th Q and won the game.

In this game, flawed refereeing according to Cuban rules (again) gave the win to the Mavs, but Blazer coaches should have relied on the highest % shooters for 4th Q scoring instead of allowing terrible no-calls of fouls of Dame to allow the loss. After the UTA accomplishments that Meyers showed, he should have been used here for additional scoring needed from the Center position. Since Nurk scored 18 points on 9 of 11 shooting in 21 min, the Blazers needed to continue that scoring with Meyers, who should have added another 8 points in the 4th Q for the win. If the Blazers will recognize who is scoring and who is not, games like this one and the Playoffs can be wins instead of losses.

it's like reading the Onion

82% of Nurk's baskets come within 10' of the rim and 56% come within 3'. Meanwhile 52% of Meyers' baskets come outside of 16'. Nurk wasn't beating Dallas from the perimeter when he went 9-11. The only thing similar about the offenses of Nurkic and Meyers is that they are tall

Who invited Mr. Doom over?

Olshey

No, Wizenheimer, you missed the message. Nurk does score mostly from close, and Meyer scores best from the arc, and that is why Meyers could and should have been shooting 4+ swish3s that would have opened the paint for a drive like he so superbly scored on versus Rudy Gobert. That is why I said 8 additional points, from 2 swish3s and a dunk. That would have preserved the win!

Yes the 4th qtr sucked bigtime, but there were plenty of good shot, open looks that just didn't fall. Funny how many "and 1's" the Mav's got, yet Nurk, & Collins get slammed down across the head, and the arse clown ref's got amnesia.

And funny how when the Blazers defenders went vertical, fouls got called, but again Scott Foster and company didn't see the Mav's doing the same thing to our penetrators like Dame.

?

I read that it could take 4-5 years to settle Paul's estate, so I doubt the team sells before that happens.

Stotts should be fired, thought he could win by keeping the game going rather than call a timeout, even with all the momentum on the Mavericks side. What a terrible coach. The worst Portland has had.
How many more timeouts did you want him to call?

Huge point. Nurks last foul was completely vertical and outside the restricted zone.

I think the Addition of a guy thats supposed to play for two guys who werent playing or playing much anyways has the rotations a bit jagged, and in some ways Stotts is trying to figure things out again. Zach and Meyers for instance havent played together (not saying thats bad), but they did most of the year, their minutes seem to be getting split up.
What dissapointed me was the turnovers and bad possessions. The only time in that entire game the Blazers played good basketball on both ends was in the 2nd quarter the bench played exceptional for about 6-7 minutes. Even when Dame went off in the third, they only won that quarter 35-31.

Far as who is to Blame, probably a mix of all them, and the refs too sure.

A win tomorrow night and we’ll all feel much better.

The only thing I thought was glaringly bad scheme wise in the 4th was going over every screen for Luka, they never changed it up or trapped him either. He kept getting his defender on his back playing from behind, and basically he figured that out and was pretty much playing 5 on 4.

Go back and watch the last 5 minutes. Pick a time...any time
Interesting you should say last 5 mins. With 3:12 there was a stoppage and lineup change and again at 1:28 left in the quarter. Kind of looks like Stotts was all over that. Maybe you would have like to see another. And i can't say it would not have helped but it seems he did indeed make adjustments during timeouts. One was a TV timeout but still a Timeout.
Take a look.

Yeah this was a team loss.

He has asked for help for years and Olshey had sat on his thumb.

Seems like we more often hear that he doesn't want his friends to be traded. Pretty much the only thing that bothers me about Dame.

Didn't watch the game, but this tells you everything you need to know. The Fixster was in. People like @Mediocre Man can say whatever they want, but fact is NBA's oldest trick in the book is to get a key big in foul trouble, changes everything.
Nurkic and Collins were being called for a lot of stuff, no doubt. It wasnt called consistently on both ends in my opinion either. The Blazers did a lot of the damage to themselves though. Turnovers, overall sloppy play, stretches of bad defense, they choked pretty hard today.

Walton also won in Portland.

Explain to me how Layman outplayed Harkless tonight? Yeah he had 4 more points, but fewer boards, steals, blocks. Layman did have more assists, but also had more turnovers. What did Jake do that was so much better then Moe? Moe playes good defense, Jake does not.

I didn't say Layman outplayed Harkless but that's irrelevant. Hood probably played Luka better than anyone on the team, including Mo. You can't have Layman out there (or Hood) and expect them to produce amazing results when they aren't getting many opportunities. Clearly both are known as offensive weapons. No use in having them out there if you're not preaching ball movement so those guys can take advantage of possible mismatches. Like Nurk tonight, he should have gotten WAY more than 11 shots when they literally had no one who could guard him.

We have a low IQ coach who isn't trying to exploit mismatches.

You don't get calls..get in foul trouble..brick free throws..turn the ball over...you won't win many games...we did all those things which is on the team for bad execution and no GM or coach's fault...make even two more free throws and that's a win..I've never seen us shoot so badly from the line

I think that's a cop out. We turned the ball over because there was too much selfish play. Something we revert to 1 in every 3 games because the coach doesn't hold his star players accountable. This comes from coaching. If the coach is letting his star guards jack up any shot they want without sharing the ball and exploiting mismatches (like the one Nurk had with anyone on the Mavs roster) then loss is also on the coach.

Players will never be 100% perfect on the floor. They'll give up turnovers, miss shots they usually make and miss defensive assignments. But if you limit your mistakes as a coach, it shouldn't take a perfect game from your players.
