9 point quarter

The plan seems to be to give it until 2020, which means one more summer of trying something. If that doesn't do it then you have to blow it up.

FWIW, I don't disagree with you about the fading options. The odds of pulling something out are declining by the day. You could keep the young players, develop the bigs while accumulating talent through the draft.

Keep: Simons, Trent, Layman, Collins, Nurkic, Skal and pull in a load of draft picks and young players for Dame and CJ and start over. That would give you a couple years to let the bigs mature and retool. You can't do anything at this point until this summer, but if they can't move CJ for a needle mover then I wouldn't mind seeing Dame moved somewhere he could win.

That's pretty much the way I see it.

The vision was locked in during that summer of 16. We were gonna try and win with that overpaid core hoping that players would naturally develop.

Didn't happen, and now we're stuck with this shit.

Stotts should be fired, thought he could win by keeping the game going rather than call a timeout, even with all the momentum on the Mavericks side. What a terrible coach. The worst Portland has had.

Really....

Mike fucking Schuler....????

Completely asinine when the Front office hasn't even tried.

To be honest, we don't really know anything. Olshey solidified his reign of terror when he fired that bigman coach who couldn't keep his mouth shut.

The only things i do know about our front office:

- They are lazy, they don't audition players for those final roster spots as they should and they fail to see that some of our guys are nothing more than placeholders.

- They fall in love with mediocre talent, they are not objective when they value their worth and then they overpay those players for no reason.

- They are too scared to fire Stotts because that would mean 3 month of Venterpool\Nate running the team.
I begged for them to fire Stotts last year because i knew coach Budenholzer's contract is expiring, i waited 2 years for that to happen lol

Maybe our next chance is to fire Stotts NOW and wait for Walton to become avilable?

Agreed. Too bad that ship has sailed.

I wasn't able to watch the game live and I am forcing myself to watch it now. Hood just hit a turn around jumper in the key to put the Blazers up 15 with 10:36 left. Knowing they only score 5 points the rest of the game is fucking crazy.

There are treatments for this degree of masochism, I'm sure.

I would like to see the team hire a new coach (along with a gm to help bring in players the HC needs) before we move in this direction. The HC will obviously bring a style of play and philosophy to the team with certain players in mind and the GM will need to go out and get them. A HC and GM relationship similar to what the Rams have with McVay and Snead.

Funny thing is, this isn't the first time Rick schooled Terry.
I actually knew it will happen again when there was 3 minutes left in the 4th.

If they trade CJ, then I guess you could try that. The sad part is that I think Stotts would actually be better with a more balanced team, and less emphasis on Dame/CJ.

He wanted to be assured as to the direction of the franchise. It doesn't take rocket science that he wanted a more competitive roster because Lillard wants to compete for a championship. That would mean making moves. Its almost pathetic that the team core hasn't changed much. Straight up, Neil Olshey isn't making moves to make this a championship team. Ain't no doubt about that. He's making moves so they are right in that sweet middle spot.

If he asked Olshey to make minor changes to the squad so the team team would get embarrassed in the playoffs, then I guess he would have gotten what he asked for.

He's the franchise player so he should be involved. I don't think the situation is unique. I'm betting most franchise players are as involved as Dame was in this situation.

We can agree or disagree on the core foundation, but to suggest we don't have enough talent is utter horseshit by Stotts apologists.

Dame was hot to start the fourth quarter. The other four guys on the court thought the game was over and didn't get him the ball, started chucking up junk and were missing. Dame came out and cooled off. Nurk fouled out. We were lazy in the beginning of the quarter and crazy at the end.

Why do we have a coach? If guys aren't following his instructions, why let them just shoot the team out of a win?
This coach is just not good enough. Didn't he coach in Dallas before?

It was a two-minute span. There's a point you have to trust your players to do the right things. Dame was calling for the ball.

I'm more inclined to blame Evan Turner than Stotts for what happened. He was running the offense at that point. He's a veteran. When your meal ticket wants fed you give him the ball.

Dame usually sits the start of the fourth quarter. Stotts left him in. I think it was clear he wanted Lillard to administer the coup de grace. The other players didn't do it. Stotts can't go out there and grab the ball out of their hands. It was like a half-dozen possessions and we had a double-figure lead. We score even on one of those, the game is over.
