900 Rose Garden employees to be laid off

The Los Angeles-based company that used to managed the Rose Garden and Memorial Coliseum has notified the state it will lay off 900 employees.

That's just great writing right there.

I'm guessing somehow Canzano will spin this on Paul.

I don't want to sound crass but this isn't as big of an issue as the article is trying to make it be. It is going over to new management so of course the old management can't keep the employees. I would guess 75% or more of the people are going to get similar jobs under new management.

I think all the jobs will eventually be shipped over to India.

Most likely so. This is why I hate the Oregonian though. Companies lose contracts all the time. Losing those contracts impact employment. The Rose Garden gave the contract to someone else, so naturally that company is going to want to do their own hiring. That's how free market works.

The Oregonian is terrible. They have an axe to gring with a lot of people and do lazy research.

I've waited long enough in line at a food vendor's spot at a Blazers game that I wouldn't be surprised if the orders were being filled in New Delhi.

It certainly seems like the food is priced as if it was made in India and shipped all the way to Portland.

I'm waiting with bated breath for next week's article:

"Uncle Paul Opens the Wallet: Vulcan Hires 800 More Employees for the Ron Tonkin Rose Garden!"

How many people has the Oregonian laid off in Allen's 25 or so years here? Imagine if Blazer websites went hysterical every time the paper laid off people.

Blazers expect "vast majority" to be re-hired...

No more Global Spectrum? Geez how many times does that place need to change hands?

FIFY.

I assume this is just because of change in management. I'm sure these people will just have to reapply for the same position this fall.

I officially get a termination letter every spring.
