95.5 The Game hints that Livingston signing has happened/is imminent

Man I hate seeing that video ... worst ever! (I say this as someone who has had an MCL repair and an ACL repair on the same knee, fifteen years apart).

Hopefully the team and SL can come to terms that are satisfactory for both sides, and whatever happens down the line if he can get anywhere near his old form, he could end up being a really versatile piece of this team ... or not, and we still should have some nice options at the point guard position (hopefully).

No doubt. I was thinking the same thing.

Thanks guys, nice to be here.

Now if only someone had clued me in to what was going on over here last week rather than nominating me for OT Forum mod "over there"... *cough cough Mistrel cough*

Medina? What are they paying you for? Why don't you get out there and push the kid to greatness?

The skills that I roll with, can only be obtained on the rough courts of inner N.E. P-Town! Bobby will do just fine.

Eh, heh, sorry. I was trying to remove myself from consideration, since I didn't want to be a moderator there if I planned to post here, and I did think you'd make a great moderator. But I wasn't thinking it through and considering whether it might be a problem for you down the line if you wanted to post here.

Also, I would have alerted you and others to this site, except I didn't feel it was appropriate for me to try and advertise another site on BBF.

But honestly, I am sorry. I've generally tried to stay quiet on that forum, because I don't want to generate conflict...I should have heeded that instinct and not thrown in a nomination on my way out.

All that said, I am very happy you are here.

I hope you don't mind that I laughed my ass off after reading that. It was pretty fucked up though, but Minstrel didn't mean to.

I'm totally kidding, dude. No hard feelings at all, and no need to apologize. I should have been paying closer attention to what was going on over there anyways and noticed that something was up... I'm still holding on to a sliver of hope that they'll come to their senses and the old place might still be saved, and I'm happy to moderate posts on the now-moribund OT Forum over there. I didn't sign a loyalty oath or anything, but who knows if they'll be pissed to see me posting over here. If I get "fired" as a Mod over there, so be it. I have no beef with the other board, but I also don't feel like I need to be their servant. My loyalty is with the posters who make this a strong fan community, not with any particular URL.

How bad was Shaun's injury compared to Jay Williams. It seemed as though Williams was poised to make a comeback a few times and it never really panned out. I'm still skeptical that Livingston can make any sort of meaningful comeback, but as many have already mentioned, low risk / high reward.

Considering that we have plenty of talent and don't really need any major roster moves, I'd be fine with letting Raef walk at the end of the year and keeping our roster as is.
Well Shaun tore 4 tendons, Williams only tore 3, as well as severing the main nerve in his leg and fracturing his pelvis. He almost died in the accident as well. There was question to if Williams would ever walk again. Comparing the 2 isn't quite a level playing field.

I am not a doctor but doctors today do amazing things. The kid is young and if he is motivated he can succeed IMO. Good for him if he makes it and good for us if he does too. If he doesn't, we gave him a shot. Good for us then too.

Exactly. Besides, even if his potential will always be limited by his athleticism, Livingston will always have his size and his vision. From what I remember, Williams' game was much more based on his quickness.
Exciting news if he does get signed, and hopefully for everyone's sake, Sergio gets traded to New York (who I believe have a $1.3 million trade exception) for a well protected first rounder.

and I hope to never see that video of the injury again.... brutal

This post is exactly right. What makes Livingston special was what you can't teach. One can learn to make a jumper; one cannot learn to see the court the way he does, or to anticipate how a play is going to develop. The kid plays defense, can handle the ball and is a terrific passer. Sign me up.

If we do get Livingston, I expect a major consolidation trade.

If we sign him, we'll see it all the time.

So...we doing this thing, or what?

If after all of this, we end up with Steven Hill, I will never forgive Kevin Pritchard...for the rest of that hour.

Wheels said we'll hear something on Wednesday.

I just watched the clip for the 1st time since teh day after it happened, for some reason it wasn't nearly as gut wrenching as i remembered.

If stuff like that doesn't get to you, then you should be a physician. To this day, that injury makes me sick to my stomach.

I didn't say it didn't get to me, just that it wasn't as bad as remembered. I still got a little queezy, but at least dinner stayed where it was.

I agree. Magic Johnson was a great PG and wasnt exactly known for his athleticism. I'm not saying that Livingston will ever be close to Magic, but he does bring the same sort of attributes - size, smarts, court vision. Seems like a no brainer to take a shot at a guy like that.

Some guy from the Tribune was just on The Game and he said that he doesnt think Livingston will be signed.

Kerry Eggers? What was his rationale? Was it on our side or Livingston's? After all, it takes two to tango.

Williams had a lot of nerve damage from his wreck. Livingston is only ligament damage. People seem to be able to do a lot with the ligament repair, but nerve damage never really recovers completely.

I don't really remember the extent of Williams' injury. We didn't get the benefit of watching it over and over on youtube.

Jay Williams broke lots of bones. His pelvis was reconstructed. I don't see Livingston's injury being anywhere the same class of injury - he's got a realistic chance to come back, where JWill really had none. It took a lot of guts for JWill to even try to come back, tho.

Yeah, Jay Williams is a sad tale. He could have been something special.

OK. So this morning Brian Hendrickson of The Columbian was on The Game talking to the MSP and he said he didn't think the deal was going to happen and all the rumors he was hearing was that the Blazers didn't like what they saw in the medical reports.

Just have to say great Avatar....at least for those of us that played that game. Most in here probably don't even know what game that's from.

In my opinion we've offered him a contract and now it's up to Livingston whether he signs with us or possibly Miami. If he looking for playing time he has a better shot with Miami or Minny. If he's looking to be part of a championship he'll sign with us ;)

I wouldn't mind taking a chance on Livingston but if he looks that bad after KP and the Blazers looked at his medical records I would be glad if we don't sign him.

I'm guessing that he can't really play right now which makes the situation a difficult one to project. We either believe his knee will recover over the course of this season, or he's irreparably broken. I tend toward the latter, but I'm not an orthopedist.

The fact that someone who can't play basketball can get paid millions of dollars to not do so is amazing... really shows how much power the players have in this league.

Oh man I grew up on that game. Best thing ever on the original NES.

I was/am really hoping that they sign/signed SL. But KP is much better at this and much more informed than I, so I suppose he should get to make the decision.

Yeah, Jay Williams is a sad tale. He could have been something special.

Actually, he had a really crappy rookie season. I called him a bust at the end of that season. (Bust for a #2 pick, not a drum him out of the NBA bust.)

He couldn't shoot, not even free throws. His assist numbers were not impressive. He couldn't defend.

With the rookie year he had, his chances of becoming something special were greatly diminished. If he worked real hard on his game, he had a shot at being an above average starter. That's it. Of course, my opinion.

Compare his rookie numbers to Deron Williams for example. Prepare to be shocked.

The Bulls should have drafted Amare. Even before the accident.
