The Mexican drug cartels are experts at building tunnels.

It can be costly to build a tunnel under the border. However, moving just one shipment of drugs from Mexico into the USA more than pays for each tunnel. Every shipment after that is gravy money.

How many tunnels are built each year under our border with Mexico?
No one knows for sure. However, for the past decade, about 10 tunnels per year are "found". About 1/4 of them are found under the tall wall near San Diego.

If Trump's wall is built along the entire border from San Diego to Texas, more tunnels will be built by the drug cartels.

The drug cartels will then take control over all the illegal immigration traffic. They will make a fortune by charging people to use their tunnels.

Building a wall is not a good strategic way to stop illegals. The illegals will find a way to get past it. And Trump's wall will make the drug cartels richer.

Trumps wall will only be an ugly feel good slap in your face symbol.


There are very advanced electronic security measures that would be more effective, and probably cost way less to build and install. Some remote areas (amount and locations are secret) along our border with Canada are now under heavy electronic security monitoring, but most people are not aware of it.

After being ignored by another poster over my insensitive remark I've rethought it. It isn't good that this person who I just assumed was here illegally doesn't leave the country. Maybe he isn't here illegally, I might have made that assumption knowing that people here who follow our laws have nothing to fear.
