In fact, the person who helped lead the exodus was @ABM.i in a good way. He didn't cause problems, he just led most here after the drama.

What the fuck are you doing for the forum lately other than instigating drama? And you're trying to say that the forum is no longer "rolling along just fine" because I showed up? Lmao. You may have been able to get away with saying whatever you wanted in the past. But you've failed to build the type of report with newer posters that'll allow you to get away saying whatever you want. That's not those posters fault, it's yours. But you want to stir up this type of drama, even though you complain about it. This whole post is on point, but especially this. I've made it clear as well that he needs to simply leave me the fuck alone. I've also told him why I don't like when he says certain things for me (for some very personal reasons, I might add) and now he goes out of his way to take advantage of that, and plays victim if I fire back.

I will say he decided to 'haze' new posters far too often on this forum. (Which is what I was referring to)
That in itself creates drama.
OB has voiced it repeatidly. I voiced it to Sly long, long ago when he sent me a dm. Saying that he wishes HCP wouldn't do that. Simply because most new posters don't 'get it'.
I mean we had people come in here in the 18-19 season and HCP pulled it. At least one of them didn't understand HCP was 'joking'. Nearly leaving the forum iirc.
Another poster said he found it dumb in this thread as well.

I consider a lot of people on this board to be virtual friends even though we either haven't met in person or have only attended a group event together. If you pay attention, you get to know their on-line personality and can enjoy giving each other crap from time to time. I don't know about you, but I work alone from my home. I don't have much chance to talk Blazers other than this forum. I wouldn't continue to do it if I didn't respect and enjoy most of you. Who needs the grief if you aren't having fun?

I respect your knowledge of the game and your basketball takes are generally informative. I also know you don't joke around much so I don't give you crap. I'd say that the flip side of the HCP discussion is that he pretty much assumes everyone knows he's screwing around when he posts here. Obviously, some of you aren't wired that way and you get annoyed by him. All I can tell you is that to a person, everyone from the board who has taken the time to meet HCP and/or gets invited to visit the broadcast trailer with him, reports that he's a good dude.

To be fair, i'm not trying to point fingers at anyone who has been brought up. I just don't remember much drama from hcp back in the day. Having met hcp, he is one of the most generous and happy guys i've met. One of my best friends uncles claims to have worked with him in the past and said hcp was/is a great great dude. Hcp has called me a virgin a bunch of times. Which we both know isn't true because i'm always first in line for mrs. Hcp. Plus he has seen me with my wife before who is better looking than me. We both have that in common.

But, the thing is, i've seen all of us be giant dicks before. Whether it's by trolling, cussing someone out, or just continuing to pester someone. I've lost my shit multiple times and said things i ended up regretting. Sometimes i apologize. Sometimes i don't and just move on. Some people just don't even want to deal with that person again. People deal with things differently.

I dislike coming to this forum nowadays because it seems like whenever I do, there are people bitching each other out. We deal with that everywhere we go because of politics. I just want to read some bball, mess with online friends i've been around with (in a good natured way) and not have the drama and posters trying to one up each other constantly.

Well it was about bball. Specifically the 3 on 3 vlog.
Until HCP made the decision to call someone a kid.
Now sure it was joking, to me that was plainly obvious.
However given the fact that HCP has been told by the person he called a kid. To not do so... Yet he refuses to stop. That itself is creating drama.

But everyone raves how much of a good, kind and nice person HCP is.
Everyone who actually knows me believes similar things about myself as well.

Oregon Live was a shitfest. There was a few really bad posters that started crap every day. Towards the end there wasn't a lot of posters there and all but a few trolls had left. Cup still got in arguments almost daily (and yes I know your response will be that it wasn't your fault and I argued with people too, whatever). There was no personal interaction allowed. You couldn't message or tag anyone. When you say you just want somewhere to talk basketball that is utter bullshit man. You have too big of a personality to want to be an anonymous poster. I don't get it, it's the exact opposite of what you actually do here. Trust me, you don't want this place to be like that.

I've been on this forum for a year and a half. I now consider a bunch of posters in here real life friends. I've probably met roughly 30 people from here and I I don't think there has been a single person that I've disliked once I've met them. The personal touch is what makes this forum great. Granted it also leads to beefs like this too. It kind of pisses me off when someone contributing to the problems of the forum tries to act like it was fine before others show up.

First off, in my expert opinion, this is the classic "text can't convey tone" conflict. Since I've been here, I have noticed a tendency for poster to take things literally. If taken literally, jokes can piss people off and that sets a tone. "I was joking" "Well, it wasn't funny" and so forth never ends up in a good place. Oftentimes, my wife thinks I'm not funny; but it is clear to me that she has no sense of humor.

Secondly, letting it go, ignoring, whatever. I'm going to use @CupWizier (sorry, dude) as an example, just because I've argued with him before. I like Cup a lot, but we have trouble seeing things the same way, or I guess I'm not skilled enough at argument to persuade him, so you know what? I seldom argue or jab at Cup. And I like him more for it.

(I have one person on ignore, only because something about them makes me want to headbutt the wall. I mean, ignore is there for a reason, with an added benefit! I don't have to read the things this poster posts and you guys and gals don't have to read me malfunction in response to those posts.)

Third, like Slypokerdork said, what has brought us together is the fucking Blazers, ie a common interest, and so that should be enough to keep us together. Like the slykitten says above, politics have polarized the shit out of this country, so it is nice to focus on something else every once in a while (paraphrasing). ie Go Blazers!

Fourth. People have to meet. I met some of the dudes in here and it has completely changed my approach with them. A goddamn bbq or whatever. Or maybe regular games watching nights at a bar or something. Humanizing humans is important. It would change the tone of this place...

Because the tone in here sucks right now.

Hm, whos been trying to get people to meetup, whether it be a fantasy football draft (anyones invited), watch parties, pickup ball... its been me, @Orion Bailey, and a couple others. The tone was great for the past couple weeks. That was until HCP tried to stir up drama once again. Ive explained many times that it doesnt matter if its a joke or not. Dude needs to steer clear of taking shots at me regardless. He especially needs to watch what he says with me as there are a few things that I really don't like for personal reasons, and I told him so and he has since ramped it up.

There wouldnt be a fucking problem if HCP would refrain from talking shit (or making jokes) towards the people that he knows he shouldnt. Thats literally the only issue here.

While I’m kinda sad I missed this, it’s probably for the best. And as much as you don’t want to hear this, it’s likely a cultural or generational thing.

For instance, in my line of work (which I readily admit is not for everyone), statements made in this thread would result in being constantly ridiculed until you changed or left the organization. That may not be within the mores of 2019 Portland, so I get the angst, but let’s not pretend that being able to craft the perfect environment for your personal well-being is a universally-accepted norm.

Additionally, I know of no one outside of Sly on here who has, for the last decade, increased the enjoyment of the Blazers for fanatics crazy enough to spend time posting here.

There’s more, but since I am onboard with the principle of “praise in public, criticize in private” I’ll bow out now.
