I'll be honest I never really thought Brandon had a 35 point game in him before this season.

I remember Quick on the Fan and in writing before the season saying the one thing that is different to him about this season is how Roy realizes he can not only be an All-Star, but a superstar. I rolled my eyes at the time, but dang, Quick hit that one. Roy IS the undeniable leader of this team, and he will be as long as he is in Portland.

Steve Blake completely out played Nash tonight with a "quiet" 22 points and 10 assists and ZERO fucking turnovers ... he's officially out of my doghouse.

He should have never been in the doghouse. The 1/5 was just fucking brutal, and I was pissed the fuck off, but no reason to completely get down on him.

Wow, our starting backcourt was straight up nasty tonight. It's hard to fathom that Roy and Blake combined for 74 points, 16 assists, 9 rebounds, and ZERO turnovers. That's just insane.

Thank you Steve Kerr for trading away Raja Bell. J-Rich and Matt Barnes played great defense tonight.

Totally random but funny!

Wow, just got back home from game. Nice to see we had a huge game on national TV finally.

Blake is was the unsung hero. Travis D is still atrocious.

Steve "Jeff" Blake was never in my dog house.....this year. He truly has had an exceptional season. I don't think that could be disputed.

the 0 TO's in the amount of time they played is unbelievable.

I was going to be mad at him, but he made those 2 free throws at I think the 2:07 mark and I was happy.

The best part of tonight's game has to be that Phoenix played a simply outstanding offensive game; getting the win when a team like that gives you their best shot is so gratifying. That 52 from Brandon wouldn't have been quite as sweet if we beat the Suns by 20.

The starting backcourt had 74 points, 16 assists, 9 rebounds, 4 steals, 1 block, 0 turnovers.

Everyone will be talking about Roy's 52 points, and rightfully so, but two other things were key to tonight's win.

Blazers 6 TOs to the Suns' 16
Blazers 15 ORBs to the Suns' 7

That's 18 extra possessions right there.

The Sun's out shot the Blazers from everywhere:

Suns: 0.569 FG%, 0.667 3FG%, 0.862 FT%
Blazers: 0.517 FG%, 0.478 3FG%, 0.767 FT%

Yet, the Blazers still won thanks to all those extra possessions.

This also the first time all year the Blazers have given up 100 points in a game and won.

BNM

I can't say I ever saw Roy playing like this when the Blazers traded for him on draft day. Roy definitely seems to have the potential to be a long-term top-ten player. And if Oden can get there too in a few years...well, that's what dynasties are built on.

I can't believe how good Roy is. And he gets superstar treatment from the referees...I hate that "superstar system," but it's nice to finally have it work in Portland's favour.

Cool. We are now the 5th seed in the West.

Jesus people need to lighten up around here, there's a reason I included the little "winkey" icon.

Just got home. I want to say that I will be constructing a shrine dedicated to Brandon Roy. I will light candles and sacrifice chickens to it every night.

Thoughts on just watching the game and then reading the comments - great game thread, BTW.

1) Roy...WOW!

2) Oden - I am SO happy that Greg got two HUGE offensive rebounds while Shaq was in the game. Really, those two rebounds and subsequent second chance points were crucial to this game. Oden had some bogus fouls on him, but I am thrilled that he didn't check out mentally after being somewhat embarrassed again on national TNT for much of the game.

3) Outlaw - again the team wins a game decided by five points or less with him in the line-up, and his offense and energy on defense helped the comeback.

4) Blake - OUTPLAYED STEVE NASH TONIGHT; END OF STORY

5) What an enjoyable game to watch. One of the few recent close games that I wouldn't have felt the team was collapsing had Portland lost. The Suns shot out of their minds and still could not win.

What a game!

As great as Brandon was Steve probably had a career game too.

Yeah and Rome will let the entire world know that he was responsible for tonight first thing.

OK. I'll listen to Rome tomorrow and see if it is the first thing he mentions. He also has to include Roy being on his show and the karma, of course.

What'da think, Player of the week locked up for Brandon?

I didn't listen to the interview...anything good?

Forgot to add that I thought it was so typical of Roy to answer Sager's question about keeping the game ball by saying that he had never beaten the Suns since entering the league.

Does this guy want to win, or what?
