OT A March For Their Lies

I don't understand why you quoted me originally tbh.
Now you're off on a tangent. I'm just not going to validate your tangent by responding to it.

These kids don't want to get shot while in school trying to get an education.
Who cares if they don't know shit about guns.
Simply put these kids don't want to get shot. How is that so hard to understand?
They're asking for change.
They're rallying for change.
But your posts on this forum are dismissing them due to their age.
Something when it happens to you on this forum, you don't like it.
Why are you doing it to these kids if you don't like it when it's done to you?
Not on a tangent but okay. See my response to bones above on the kids. I think there is a huge difference between somebody in their mid 20’s and 14-18 year olds, to ignore that is kinda ridiculous.

Micro targeting of social media by companies like Cambridge Analytica is going to fuck these kids so hard. In 3 years 60% will be ready to join Russia.

I don’t think it’s a bad thing, it’s a good thing, I just hope their minds are in the right place and stick with it and not abandon it as opposed to going back to school and joking about the next possible school shooter without getting the kid help or alerting somebody of him
But if you think it's a good thing, then why did you initially post negatively about the protest and the protesters?

The FBI was alerted. Most kids joke about a kid being a future school shooter without believing it. It's not right, but it's the truth. Sadly, I believe more and more kids either will or already are starting to worry about certain kids who seem like they would commit such an attack. Hopefully, lawmakers and schools will put in measures and resources for kids to tip off someone about a school shooter. Going to the principal or administration and saying a kid might be a school shooter in the future isn't going to get the right reaction from administration. Schools can't even handle simple bullying correctly. There's been no guidance for kids on how to "tip off" a potential threat. And the FBI was tipped off about this kid, and didn't do anything, which is part of the problem, and probably one of the reasons many people are protesting.

Superiority. Tried this whole morale high ground thing and I don’t like it, I don’t really care for it and don’t care to even have a conversation with somebody like that in real life. At least with you I know I could relate on some shit, shoot hoops and whatever but I got little time for people who wanna act like they are better than others
I get it.

Not a very logical poster, oh okay. 26 years old is very very different from 14-18 year olds but okay yeah lets just move these things to the side to get your point off. I have no beef with you, I know you wanted me to stay banned. I don't care anymore. Look man I guess I am just the fucking worst here, terrible fuckin poster. You guys are right. Is this what you want? god forbid I have a different opinion than you. Before you go saying this is emotional, it's not. I don't care. I am completely over this OT section. You just don't allow a mellow ass opinion in the OT section, it's insane. You would think by your reactions I have said the worst things imaginable. It is what it is dude, do you
It's a forum, so some folks here think your opinion is baseless and possibly repugnant. I would suspect you aren't just posting to hear a choir of "me too".

My thoughts.
1) the youth have taken the lead on a topic and that's great. We have been trying for decades to get the youth to become more involved in politics and shaping society. Well, these young people will be of voting age soon and they are already putting out effort leading me to believe we are witnessing young folks finally grabbing the bull by the horns. At least some of them. More than in the previous generation. You @Cippy91 have stated you have never voted by the age of 26. Well, my guess is many of these kids will not be as jaded as you and will actually try and apply pressure to the system through marches, social media and through voting.

2) This has been almost 5 weeks and still picking up steam. Will it be this strong in a week, or a month or a year, perhaps not, but some of those kids will continue and will keep the topic alive.

3) HCP and others will disagree with you. That doesn't mean stop sharing your opinions. But you will be called out. @MarAzul and @MARIS61 both call me out often. I don't take it personally, I don't act like I'm a victim because they immediately and sometimes dramatically tear my posts down (at least in their minds). The OT section is for debate, it's for disagreement and sometimes even for laughter or mockery. That's the shit. People will not stop picking apart your posts. Just don't take it personally.

4) I personally find a lot of pride in our young generation. The poise, the emotion, it's very appreciated. It's beautiful.

one more thing @Cippy91. these kids don't need to have the answer. Having the ability to shine a light on the problem is all i ask. The are letting politicians know that if they aren't seeing change, they will use their voices to jettison the NRA-lockstep politicians.

These kids may not all be voters today, but what about tomorrow? they are becoming activists, and activists on all sides, tend to vote. Seems like they at least have a chance to shop policy whereas you stand no chance so long as you keep your voice muted by not voting, marching, writing letters, emails....

@Cippy91 Dude wtf is your issue.

You responded with this to my non-divisive post.
I purposely wrote it that way to NOT START an argument.

This is what you call a trend. This date was announced earlier on. Wait another week, there will be no more talk. The youth these days so badly want attention or to be something "special". Sure, some of them probably actually feel some type of way about this issue but I bet you if I interviewed most of the kids out on those streets, they wouldn't know the basic things about the issue they are even protesting

I then reply while being nice I may add with this.
I did not give dates at this time as I didn't believe it was necessary.
You're an intelligent guy.

Basic issue is they don't want to die while trying to get an education.
After the threat on McMinnville High school last month I had a 2nd grader ask me the day before the supposed threat.
'Am I going to die tomorrow?'
Even he knew the basic issue.

These kids had a 17min walkout earlier this month. They were told to stay in school and get an education.
Now they are gathering on a god damn Saturday for what they believe in. Yet they're being told the exact same bullshit.
Doesn't seem like this issue is going away.

Certain posters on this website have got annoyed at older people who post on this website.
When the older people cite being young as why a certain poster doesn't know enough about basketball.
You just did the exact same thing.

But you then double down on it, saying these kids are just seeking attention.
They won't care in a week, as they'll be onto the next fad/sjw.

I don't care if they are protesting or not. Go for it. I am just saying nobody will be talking about this a week from now. You're giving these kids too much credit. This is the same forum who shits on me for being 26 and thinking I know things yet now all of a sudden you think 14-18 year olds have all the answers to this one problem. Fascinating

I shouldn't have to bring up dates. Your post was a wtf moment.
Therefore I become condescending because you're also being condescending or trolling idk which.

These kids have been asking for change since Feb 14th. It's now a month later and they're still asking for change.
Clearly your 'week expiration' is wrong.

I have never once shit on you, nor anyone else for being too young.
You will never find a post like that by ME because it's a pet peeve of mine to dismiss someone due to their age.
Again, you're wrong here.

You however are dismissing these kids for talking about what they believe in just because of their age.
Doing the exact same thing others on this forum have done to you.
One would logically think if you don't like being dismissed due to your age. You wouldn't dismiss others because of their age.
But from your posts, you're not a very logical poster. Your posts are generally full of emotion.
(Insert the dead horse you always beat. 'I don't care about this nonsense which you always post about'.)

Then you start playing the victim.
I make a haiku.
You dismiss 17/18 year olds again.
I guess 34+ year olds are far more logical than you. 8+ more years of life experience.

Dude wtf.
You don't have to be a 26 year old to know you don't want to get shot while in school.
It's not illogical for kids to ask adults who are supposed to provide for your safety. To do their job.

It's both. We live in a society that cares more about instagram likes than real issues or the real truth to these issues. Society is getting dumber as a whole. Not saying all kids are dumb because there are some brilliant kids out there.

You truly are showing your ignorance. These kids have their shit together better than you do and at least believe in something enough to march for it. All you do is sit in a basketball forum attacking and putting them down with nothing but generalizations. How sad.

Probably the weakest attempt ever at making any semblance of a coherent, united statement about anything.

Millennials can't do anything right. Our great nation will decay and rot away under their "watch".

News flash = People have been predicting our demise for a long long time. And it looks like your adding your voice to that throng, as if to say "Any day now."

I like your last statement.

Sometimes what you hate in others is what you secretly hate about yourself. So if you hate on the kids for having short attention spans, not being consistent with their opinions, lacking knowledge on a subject or having no staying power on said subject...and you yourself have never voted...well, it's called projection.

Now if you don't mind me, I'm going to listen to some Allman brothers.

It's not over-dramatic. Maybe you don't realize the way your words come across, and that's why the response seems dramatic to you.

It is completely over dramatic and entirely judgemental. Cippy may have made a comment about these kids that was overly dismissive of their intent. He may not have given them enough credit.

Then HCP comes in with his bias showing as usual. He reserves his judgement for those he disagrees with or just doesn't like. He mentioned recently some black friends posting militant stuff (something like that) on Facebook but he basically gives them a pass because he understands their background or just doesn't want to call them out on it. @HCP could clarify this if he cares.

@Cippy91 has not learned that making any off the cuff remark that goes against the group in OT is just asking for emotional outbursts of righteous indignation.

Wow, I think murders committed with guns might not be a good thing now!

This is an interesting topic that I'm not sure anyone has ever touched upon in this country before.

I don’t agree with gun control at all, respect their right to protest. Wish these kids were given the correct facts when it comes to guns, but truth isn’t the thing they want to hear right now. I do hope changes are made to school security from this though, armed security, an ID swipe entry would be a good start.

What are the correct facts?

Then it really shouldn't matter who came up with the sign. Now excuse me while I go search for a Ford Hemi engine. :bgrin:

Ford Hemi? I thought that was a Chrysler thing.

A Ford hemi is real. A big block 350 still isn't.

On topic, would it bother you if kids were used as pawns in other political protests?

Say the same kid holding an anti abortion sign his dad made for him?

Ford Hemi? I thought that was a Chrysler thing.
They made some. Anyone could make a hemi head. It is just the shape of the combustion chamber. Chrysler was just known for them. I suggest you ignore Cupwizzer when it comes to cars.

You are the most over dramatic dude on here. My post makes you sick to your stomach? because I said this is mostly just a trend? okay, come back to me in a week when nobody is talking about it

Think for a minute. These kids aren't millenials bro. They're From the parents who have seen the millenials. These kids are smart. They grew up being taught how to confront bullies. They haven't been told they're special...

These are the older kids from my son's generation. They're just 5-6 years older than him.

These kids are different and you're selling them short. They're smarter and wiser than you think.
