A Piston Preview of the Nets Next Season

It might seem a little early to do preseason reviews…but the Pistons’ own website has decided to take on the job. Pistons.com sees little hope for anything but a rebuilding season, wondering where the Nets will get points if Vince Carter isn’t playing or playing well. Bottom line: if the Nets’ young big men, from Ryan Anderson to Yi Jianlian, look like players, the season will be a “raging success”.

Wow...I haven't read it yet, but from the NetsDaily blurb, I'm actually liking this review. This guy sounds like someone who actually understands the team.

We're just that: A rebuilding team with, depending on the play of the young big men, the possibility of having a successful season.

I think that success for the Nets this year will not be with W's and L's but the development of the young players on the team.

This guy is right, without Vince in the lineup the Nets have no other scoring options, but if the bigs do develope quick and learn the NBA gameplay then I think that the Nets will at least make the playoffs.

Celtics
Pistons
Cavs
Raptors
Magic
Heat (if Wade is healthy)
Sixers (even if Brand isn't 100%)
8th spot.. Hawks/Bulls or Bucks (I like the addition of Scott Skiles)

The Nets are rebuilding and I just can't see them in the playoffs next year.

Pistons
Magic
Washington
Raptors
8th will come down to Hawks, Bulls, Bucks, or Nets (if the bigs contribute good results).

Bobcats could surprise, but they always have injury issues and they did hire Brown.

Heat have big holes at starting center and pg and don't have the bench depth to do much damage.

Pacers and Knicks don't have the defense.

I think a healthy Wade is a top 5-10 player in the league with Marion and Beasley on board they can win 40-45 games.

Still it's early and too tough to really tell who's going to do what. I thought the Bulls would be ECF's contenders.. any rational person thought they would at least make the playoffs... YIKES

Marion sucked when he did play with Wade this year. Seems to be on the downfall.

Either that, or simply had trouble going from Phoenix to Miami. We'll see.

He needs to get his head on straight and do what he does well (rebound, get open near the basket, play solid D) rather than trying to do more than he's capable of (outside shot, big scorer) IMO.

Good luck with that in a contract year!

Wade is great, but even with Marion and Bealey the talent drop off is way too big for players #4 through 12.

well its all about chemistry... u can have ur superstar but if u dont have teamwork... it doesnt matter... ur superstar can avg 30ppg and it wont convert into wins...

obviously, but it makes it easier for lesser talented players when a superstar attracts a lot of defensive attention.

After watching the Olympics, it's obvious Wade is playing much better than he did last year.

A healthy and much improved Wade will make the Heat a much better team, and if Beasley is the real deal, then you have three guys who play at an all-star level.. I think that's solid enough to make the playoffs.

Vince isn't a superstar, but he does attract a lot of defensive attention. Like, all of it.

there is a reason they play the games, sure 3 or 4 of the teams may be locks for the playoffs, but the rest of the teams are one or two injuries away from the lottery. It is, about chemistry and coaching. The only concern i have is when you hear the announcers say things like the nets have to learn how to win, or how to play at the ends of games. That will hurt the nets alot this year, and depending on their learning curve will determine their success.

heh actually last season the injury of krstic hit us bad... now any team can have injuries... i hope we stay healthy so our youngins can develop ^^ and we need VC and devin to be healthy all season...
