There it is! What a world, hyper intense, group think carried to the max, with synchronize virtue signalling. The end result is, more people were harmed by the "Correct Response" than could ever
be helped with the inevitable affect. It appears to me, this PC support of this group awareness and mindless reaction to a mindless tweet, a clear clue our society is now officially in the bazaar stage.

So TV shows should never end or be cancelled because it will put people out of work?

So PBS shouldn't have fired Charlie Rose and ended his show because all of the people it put out of work?

what the hell do you think virtue means? the person harmed here was a woman who did nothing to bring about an ugly snipe at her ethnicity...as I said...show's get cancelled often...day in the life of entertainment. The people who made this decision didn't do it because they were mindless...quite the contrary.

I can't remember what Charlie Rose's crime was. Refresh my memory. I did not watch his programs so I am admit, I paid little attention.

As far as Rosanne is concerned, the show I mean, it appears ABC is managed to honor a pledge to the PC society, rather than follow a sound business model. Cancelling the highest rated show
on TV because of a silly remark that is just another example of the shtick that made the show popular is an odd decision, at least from my view. But then, I did not watch the show, so
I really have no opinion on it's real value to society. I do suspect it is not much, nor is cancelling the show in punitive reaction of much value.

Yes, the comment was not kind. Now if someone would slam Valerie, I would be pleased if they made the remark truthful and accurate. There is plenty of real and accurate facts to work up a quite pleasing slap in the face and boot in the ass. She has indeed cause harm to come to many people, and more should know about it. Rosanne's silly remarks gives her cover.

Normally I'd agree with you but this one isn't her tweeting an opinion on politics. This is next level stupid.

Question!
Are you pleased ABC cancelled the Rosanne show because the punitive reaction to her remarks is a good lesson in proper decorum for our society?

Or

Are you pleased ABC cancelled the Rosanne show because it is the most popular show on TV, watched by millions of people all for the wrong reasons? And she voice support for Trump?

what ABC did was commendable and done for the right reason...being pleased has nothing to do with it...being disgusted does though

This is next level stupid.

Well, I can't argue there, it was inaccurate as well as silly as you can get. Yes even stupid, but we have many that are stupid, and you can't fix stupid. We generally let them live here too.
Moral out rage is not a fix for stupid. Do you think everyone should be subject to termination by their boss where ever, for stupid posts or tweets in the public forum? I can indeed see it if
your public posts/tweets do affect you job performance. But in Rosanne's case, isn't this just more of Rosanne and part of the shtick that made Rosanne the most popular show on TV?

So just for clarity, You think TV shows should teach society what you think is proper decorum? This was a good opportunity to take out the Rosanne show?

I'm generally the one who says people shouldn't lose their jobs for stupid mistakes. Didn't think Franken should have resigned and I don't even like him.

The backlash against ABC would come. They had no choice but to get rid of her.

Ha! I just realized, until two days ago, I had not seen a TV turned on since the last week of April.

An acquaintance of mine worked on the original show. By the end of it all, anyone on the crew worth their weight was making a buttload each show.

According to him, pretty much every single person involved in the show was completely zooted on nose candy by that point. Like living week to week, spending everything they had. Cocaine really is God’s way of telling you you are making too much money. When the show folded they all hit rock bottom.

Last time I saw him, a couple years ago, he was walking his miniature shitzu in his yard to take a shit, in his underwear.

Are you sure? I think the outrage comes from people that do not watch the Rosanne show. Mostly from people that wanted the Show off the air so no one could watch it.

BTW, I think Franken got screwed by his own people too. I enjoyed the hell out that one.

The sad part about this is that liberals LOVED Roseanne. She was like the white Bill Cosby in her day and because of her nostalgia value (and zero rapes) most people overlooked her antics. For the most part she was just your crazy aunt that you still loved. She had a unique opportunity to unite a lot of people through laughter, and tackle some serious social issues of today. What does she do instead, she shits all over everyone by promoting weird conspiracy theories and racial bullshit. So fuck her, she got what she deserves. Her cast did not get what they deserve but thats life. When you make shitty decisions then you and others have to live with the consequences. I feel sorry for them and I feel sorry for her, but for different reasons.

I am far from a Trump supporter, but I occasionally watched that show and enjoyed it (any show that has input from Norm McDonald on some of the jokes is going to be ok with me).

But ABC absolutely did the right thing about it and it was the right thing to do business wise as well - we have seen what happened with advertisers on Laura Ingraham's show - and there were already people jumping ship from that show - including the executive producer, a writer/consultant and one of the cast members that said she called her agent to quit and was told it was canceled.

Wow! You had very high hopes for Rosanne ( the person). Can't say I did. But do you think she will learn a lesson from being fired? Or will the world learn a lesson?

The right thing to do from business point of view? You lost me there, not because I disagree, but that I do not understand. How is cancelling the most Popular show on TV good for business?

pledge to the PC society
there is no such thing unless it's just in your imagination....being a parent and teaching good behavior isn't a liberal flaw or cult....it's like saying all banjo players are inbred rednecks....I play banjo and I'm pretty far from that stereotype

That show already lost a lot of viewership compared to it's initial hot start, there was already an avalanche of people jumping ship which would have meant deteriorating quality and with it, viewership - and it would have been silly to imagine that the same kind of advertisers backlash would not have happen as it did to Laura Ingraham.

As "noble" as they seem - I am willing to bet that they looked at it and said something like - this thing is a pain to manage as is, but at least we are making money on it, but with this new stuff - we are a lot less likely to make money on it going forward - and as such, it is not worth the hassle.

That makes tons of sense to me.

Interestingly enough, TV actually did used to promote what was considered “proper decorum” at the time. No cuss words, twin beds for married couples, no interracial romance, rare depictions of divorce, “bachelor” uncles and “spinster” aunts to deflect any question or concerns about homosexuality, no drug use and little if any graphic violence. All good right? Unless you consider the promotion of excessive drinking, smoking and gender inequality. But then, those were “proper” social norms back then eh......?

I'm not sure what my exact hopes were but she found the low bar and went even further. I expected some stupid stuff from her this is beyond wow.

I don't think either or anyone will learn a lesson. I do think one less platform for a idiot, asshole bigot is a good thing though.

Right on UCD. But you will note, I did not ask if TV should present the proper decorum. I asked him, if TV should present the what he thinks is the proper decorum.

Ha! Yes I would like that. I like old movies too.

AH! Thank you for the admission.

Now no one can watch it and that is good!!!

So your counter point is that she should keep her show because she said some awful shit that people agree with? If that's how people think then fuck them too.
