Biyombo just became a UFA as Char declined their qualifying offer. Kid is 22 and has been slowly improving and offers defense and rebounding - I like this comparison:
DeAndre Jordan: 3.3 blocks per 100 possessions (14th in the NBA), 22 rebounds per 100 possessions (3rd in the NBA)
Bismack Biyombo: 4.1 blocks per 100 possessions (5th in the NBA), 16.9 rebounds per 100 possessions (8th in the NBA)

I say lets make Char regret another decision, if LMA leaves and we are looking to acquire assets and rebuild this is a kid I'd go after.

I would say sure but I also think we might have too many Centers when all is said and done. I know we bring one more in regardless of Biyo and probably a high profile one. Luckily Plumlee could play PF I guess and Vonleh is probably inactive all season so that could help.

You do this if LMA and all the gang leaves and we do not get Greg Monroe, he's a young still developing defensive shot blocker, probably can be had for 5-6 mil per year. We go with a Plumlee/Biyombo/Leonard C tandem with Meyers playing some PF and look to add another PF in FA

I like Bismack but not enough to give him Lopez or Plumlee's minutes and wouldn't sign him just as injury assurance. If we bring back Joel, Robin with Plumlee I think we're set at Center.

I was about to say, this would be like the time we picked up Thabeet and thought he would turn it around, but it looks like Biyombo can actually play a bit based on his stats.

He made 3.8 MIL last year. You think he gets 6 this year? I don't think so but if so then too rich for my blood if we are in rebuild mode.

I agree with the above thoughts, that this is a player you look at if LMA bolts.

I wonder if his mother named him after a McDonald's menu item but just couldn't spell well

Fine, in this wild offseason I am not sure what he gets, but if we can get him cheaper it could look like a steal in a few years in what will be a wildly inflated world of contracts. This only happens if Plans "A & B", whatever they are fail, probably a Plan C or D

I thought Biyombo was going to be the next Serge Ibaka. In any case, not sure if he's needed unless he's cheap unless we're going to get rid of Vonleh.

The Hornets’ one stretch of real success this season came when starters Al Jefferson and Lance Stephenson were out with injuries. During Jefferson’s absence, the Hornets put up an 8-3 record, including wins against the Toronto Raptors and Miami Heat, all coming on the strength of their defense. The offense continued to struggle, putting up an Offensive Rating of 101.5 over those eleven games. The defense, however, improved dramatically, stifling opposing offense to the tune of a 95.2 Defensive Rating.

3rd string C (maybe 2nd) for 4-5 mil per when you are paying Meyers and Plumlee so little? what would our total Center position cost be for 3 C's? something like 7-8 mil for a few years, and how will that look next year when the capspace explodes? and one of these guys could be a helluva trade asset in a year or two

Does he have a little African in him?
On a serious note he and Vonleh seem to be very similar from a defensive standpoint. But we do need 5 bigs at least. So from that standpoint he would be a good pick up if we lose LA

There is some overlap size wise but Bismack IMO is a pure C and I see Vonleh as mostly a pure 4. Bismack has 3 full years of NBA play and he averaged some pretty decent minutes vs Vonleh who is still 19 and hardly played last year.

Drafted at age 18 but several scouts say that he could've been as old as 26 at the time he was drafted.

Zero interest. We don't need a third Hornet. Especially one with zero offensive game and just good defensively. If you can only play on one side of the ball you have to be elite at it.

Nah, she named him after the battleship.... but just couldn't spell well.

Nah, his mom once mentioned she wanted to go to Bismark, ND. A New Englander overheard the conversation and asked what the hell she wanted to go there for. In that moment, she decided maybe she shouldn't go. Two days later, she found out she was pregnant, and recognizing the blessing, she named her son after the capital of ND, as with the New Englander's pronunciation.
