Quote:

Former UA player Hassan Adams is without a team or a job after being released by the New Jersey Nets in July.

Adams said he's doing fine and may soon find out whether he'll be in a camp come October. He said news could come in the next couple of weeks, adding that San Antonio is a possibility.

Oh great.

Meh, not a big deal. Not everything works out for the Spurs i.e. Jackie Butler, James White.

Imagine, Hassan Adams win a championship ring before Jason Kidd, that would be sad. Like Matt Bonner before Chris Bosh, it makes me cringe what sh*t like that happens. A guy plays like 20-30 seconds at the end of the game and he wins a championship ring, it just pisses me off.

I like Adams. He is one off the few bench players on this team that can come out and produce. Hopefully he ends up here rather then the Spurs.

San Antonio would pick up Adams, as they know it would only extend the discussion here of how terrible it was that we cut him.

Aside from Scola, how many terrible moves have they made in the Duncan era? Any? And we haven't even seen Scola play yet.

He would be the one person I like on the Spurs

As much as I love my Nets I want Adams to succeed and shove it in Thorn's and L. Franks face.

me too. and out-play Udoka.

I still don't understand why he was cut over Bernard Robinson. Is there something money-wise that I'm forgetting?

They couldn't move Bernard Robinson because his contract is guaranteed. They would’ve had to buy him out at 75% of his $1million so 750,000 would've stayed on the books and they would've only saved 250,000; while waiving Hassan saved them close to 700K because his contract was not guaranteed being a 2nd round draft choice.

Adams being taught by Bruce and Manu would be a scary sight, if Adams truely put all his might into improving.

San Antonio, the team where former Nets go to win championship!

Getting taught to take 40 footers instead of driving in, isn't oh so good either. I crack a lot on Vince Carter, you'll get used to it.

Trust us, we all do.

That's why we left BBF.

Adams is overrated, to be honest. Bernard Robinson--who may still be cut--was considered the best defender in college the year he came out, can allegedly guard every position, he's bigger than Adams, can actually play SG, SF, and PFfrom an offensive standpoint, and was relatively productive when given a chance to start two years ago.

When given a chance to start, Adams was terrible.

Ah Ha, I figured out how to quote now

In college, Hot Sauce was played everywhere for Zona but in the NBA his size limits him to SG and SF against smaller teams. I think Adams is a good energy guy but unless he improved his range since college, I doubt he'll ever be much of an SG offensively in the NBA.

Hot Sauce=Hassan Adams for those who don't know me

I think it's kinda funny to say one guy is overrated and then in the same post creatively buff the resume of Robinson like that. The only difference between the two is their height as Hassan showed he had the same exact skillset and and an improved jumper over half an offseasons worth of work. I have nothing against Bernard but the reality of the situation is that he got minutes on a team decimated by injuries where they were left little choice but to play him at the 2 and 4 out of a lack of options not because he excelled at any in shifting to those positions and even then Bernie had a hard time keeping on the floor due to overagressive fouls and just plain bad decisions. Sure the same negatives against Bernard can be said about Adams but Hassan was a rookie who was on equal footing with Robinson in every area who had 2 years experience on him. I can't deny Hassan stunk it up as a starter but is it his fault to keep being marched out there despite the lackluster results? Frank kept putting him out there when Hassan was clearly strongest alongside Marcus off the bench. I'm not playing a blame game, i'm just saying that if Bernard was the one given those chances we'd probbaly see a similar result because he's just as raw a player and makes similar mistakes when he's on the floor. Sure its speculation but I don't think i'm going too far out on a branch in saying that.

Speak for yourself. You're all montrosses. VC for life.

Also its good to see you around, reganomics. I actually don't think playing time factored in. While Hassan was given more playing time, I think its a fair assessment to say that he earned it. BRob kept looking lost on the offense, and didn't knock down the shot when he was given the opportunity. While BRob's lankiness helps him on the defensive end, thats what we have Wright for. In Hassan was able to demonstrate a superior jumpshot from the beginning, so unless BRob progressed dramatically in the last half of the season, I think each player got a fair shot.

My point was just to rebut the presumption that the ONLY reason why Hassan was cut was that BRob's contract couldn't be moved. The two are fairly equivalent, plus BRob is taller, can actually play SG, and every now and then can hit a jump shot. BRob may still ned up being cut, but he's as good a bet as Hassan to succeed, if not better. The only reason why Hassan may have a future in the league is because he can be tenacious on defense--but so can BRob. Also, we know that Rod Thorn is a height whore, and we saw that the Nets struggled to find combinations on the floor which were good for Hassan--as I pointed out in another thread, the Hassan-Boki-Boone combo was terrible, minus 25 in 25 minutes.

Also, mods you heard him.

(For the record, KC got his name changed from kweli by jokingly asking for it in a thread. You've been warned!)

I remember that thread. In the off topic section. I don't think it was it.

haha I don't remember. All I know is that KC and I were talking about using the phrase "kthanksbye" as a means of ending a post while conveying that it was sarcastic and not to be taken seriously. He apparently came into the thread where vuchato wanted to be net2, and said jokingly that he wanted to change his name to kid chocolate. low and behold...

although he's embraced it and is quite fond of it now!

Oh, I think all that happened when I was moving; I never really understood about vuchato's name change. Heck, I can't even remember who if Net2 isnow Real orZae. at least now we can spell it.
