Never going to happen. I think this is as rumor as it gets.

I'm big fan of AK (being Russian and all), so I'd love such as trade.

Big fan as well. Glad to see him shine this summer.

If the Nets or any team is interested, now is the time to pounce. Or well a few months ago was. But better than waiting for Boozer to get injuried and for AK to re-establish himself.

Would add a nice shot blocking pressence to our team but could kick us in the face if his numbers drop down to last years stats.

That's true, but I think that's a very slim likelihood. His numbers dropped b/c he was the third front court option behind Boozer and Okur. So unless Krstic comes back strong, he'll be the first option in NJ's slim front line. He'll also have plenty of room for reboundings, etc. Besides that, I think playing with J-Kidd will boost his offensive numbers. Although he's played with some top notch pg's in Stockton and D-Williams, he's never been one of the top two choices for either on offense. Here he would be, so that would work to his advantage.

As for RJ in Utah, I'm not so sure that that would work as well as AK in NJ. RJ can shoot from the outside, but not necessarily any better than AK. And that's essentially what the Jazz need. Look at their starting five from last year, who all recieved the lion's share of minutes from Jerry Sloan. At point, Deron Williams is one of the top 5 in the league and is the Jazz's future for the next dozen years or so. At the 3, AK was a reliable scorer as far as 4th options go, and is a top 5 defensive player. At 4, Boozer was a steady 20-10 and a top 5 pf. And Okur was a center who could both clog the lane and stretch defenses designed to collapse on Boozer. The only hole? SG, where the Jazz lacked a reliable outside shooter. In RJ, they still wouldn't be getting this, and instead would just have another scorer(unneeded with Williams, Boozer and Okur) who's defense doesn't hold a flame to what they'd be losing in AK.

True AK is disgruntled, but I see a deal for Shawn Marion being more likely than one for RJ. As it is, if the Jazz feel that he really is too much of a distraction than they'd like to deal with right now, I can see them settling for a solid outside shooter in mold of Mike Miller or J.R. Smith, with maybe a decent 3 or some young talent thrown in. I really wouldn't be surprised if they tried dealing him to Minnesota for some of the castoffs recieved for KG.

Don't like it. Doesn't make us that much better, so it's not worth the hassle of integrating him into the system and what not.

I think Vince Carter would be the perfect fit there.

It's the team he can probably help the most in the entire league.

Maybe they would send Almond as well if the Nets could convince them to take Vince over RJ.

RJ isn't as good a fit for the Jazz, but Ratner is fine with trading him (unlike Carter).

Either trade would improve the Nets immediately.

Unless the Nets get Boozer and move AK to the three, that will not happen.

i wouldn't doubt that Utah is happy with their squad right now with the drafting of Almond. i expect them to try to talk to Kirlenko and make him more content with staying in Utah.

The thinig with AK is he doesn't fit the Sloan system. Sloan has never had an athletic wing to work with and doesn't know how to coach them. He has Boozer and Williams as his new Malone, Stockton. AS the 3rd-4th option, he needs to settle for open jump shots, plays are not set for him. I don't know how being a 4th option or basically same status as last year helps him or the Jazz. They need a wing who can hit the perimeter jumpshots.

Vince Carter would be perfect for Utah. Utah would not be perfect for Vince Carter. But hey, Thorn's got the decision making power in this situation, not Vince.

I agree that either trade would improve the team.

RJ for AK would add some money to the payroll. AK makes about $1.6 million more than RJ this year and is owed $8.6 million more over the course of the contract. He is a year younger andthree inches taller. I think it would be a very good trade for the Nets. Kirilenko can run the floor, pass, defend both on the perimiter and at the rim, and shoot from deep. And while RJ can play the 2 or 3, AK can play the 3 or 4.He is better suited for the Nets than the Jazz. Happy with RJ but would be happy with AK as well.

Collins, Wright, Ilic, B.Robinson, S. Williams for Kirilenko

Kidd/Williams

Carter/Houston?

Jefferson/Nachbar

Kirilenko/Boone

Krstic/Magloire

Hey, if Boston can invest 56.3 million into 3 players, then the Nets can invest 58.6 million into 4!

Well, this is where Kirilenko comes in. To sweeten the pot, Kirilenko passes on his one free "extra-curricular activity ticket" that his wife gives him to the Jazz GM in return to be traded to the Nets.

is the Jazz GM male or female? this doesn't sound all that good to me.

we'd be trading a gay for a gay, it'd be crazy.

People should really stop suggesting a Vince for AK+fills.

Who would play SG? RJ? Yeah right..Who would be our go-to-guy? RJ? Yeah right...

I would love to swap RJ for AK though...

Wright would be the SG, the Nets won the EC with nobody scoring 15 PPG so Jason Kidd would be the "go to guy", and the Nets would be a much more dangerous team than the disjointed mess they are right now.

Ratner doesn't want to trade Carter, but in reality the Nets should have to convince Utah to make a deal like this.

The Jazz need a SG in the worst way, and they have to be sold that VC would make them serious title contenders.

The EC titles were great, but you can't dwell on the past.

A Nets team without Vince Carter (and no scorer in return) would struggle to score 80 points a game.I can not see how we could advance from the first round and the EC semi's if we trade VC for AK.With the RJ for AK deal, we still have a top notch PG, SG, SF and a solid front court. There is world class defense in AK, world class scoring in Vince Carter, and world class leadership and playmaking in Jason Kidd. We would havea banger in Magloire, and Nenad to hit the open jumpers, while our bench is pretty darn solid.

I'd do that deal, too, but I think it's worse for both teams.

I don't agree with the bolded statement. I think the Nets would score a few points less per game and give up a WHOLE LOT less. They would win more games and be much more dangerous in the playoffs.

And they would finally have some focus and an identity again.

Another problem is that you seem to think AK is a SF and a replacement for RJ. He is not.

He's a so-so SF who can play there in certain matchups. AK is a PF, which was made painfully clear and obvious last season.

I agree with Stefan...and you. I disagree with you...and Stefan. Under the right circumstances, the Nets could winwithout Carter's scoring but only if they got a great defender back and Kidd remained healthy.(People should not dismiss Carter's passing ability, particularly into the post...ask Curly or Mikki) Kirilenko IS the type of player who would be ideal for the Nets IF they dumped Carter but they are NOT going to dump Carter. That was a corporate decision. Carter can sell luxury suites. Kirilenko cant and for that matter, neither can Jefferson or Kidd, who is damaged goods in terms of marketing. Besides, Carter cant be traded til December 15 and if Kirilenko is as serious as he sounds, he will be long gone by December 15. I suspect the Lakers will make a pass.

I was thinking the same think. if we got a defensive force like Kirlenko to go along with the other strong defensive players on this team, then 80 would be plenty. We could rely on RJ and Krstic a little more, and they would probably welcome that.

the only problem with VC-AK would be that the Nets would have a glut of big men(6), 4 of which would be projected to get good minutes this season. someone would prolly end up getting traded.

AK had his career year when Boozer was down. He's a strong player while slashing to the bucket, providing weak side help on defense. With Boozer back, the Jazz have gone to a 2 man game, Willaims and Boozer. Even in the Stockton-Malone heydday, they never had that stud athletic wing player, they filled the gaps with a shooter the likes of Horny, Russell, Anderson etc. An atheltic slasher will never succeed in this offense....aka AK-47. They become a more dangerous team replacing AK-47 with a spot up shooter at the 3. If Boozer goes down, AK's your back up.

I do agree that if Kidd were injured or traded, the Nets would win more games with Carter than with Kirilenko.

However, would it really matter?

And as I said before and you mention here, Ratner has no interest in trading Carter.

RJ has always been the center piece, when it came to trade talks. Carter was practically untouchable last season, and it's not because teams were reluctant to get a one-year rental.

I'll say!

I love Mikkel Kessler, and I was wondering how big a deal he is, but Stefan disappeared and I couldn't ask him.

I can't wait until the Calzaghe fight!

Meh. I don't really think I want such an unprofessional, selfish crybaby like Kirilenko.

AK is none of those things.

JCB: Thanks. It's great to be back on a Nets forum.Ghoti: Really? I didn't think Mikkel Kessler had any fans outside Denmark. Here in Denmark he's one of the hottest athletes, and have been so for a year or so. There's more or less a Kessler update everyday on the news. The Calzaghe match is well-anticipated.
