QUOTE (Universe)

Would add a nice shot blocking pressence to our team but could kick us in the face if his numbers drop down to last years stats.

That's true, but I think that's a very slim likelihood. His numbers dropped b/c he was the third front court option behind Boozer and Okur. So unless Krstic comes back strong, he'll be the first option in NJ's slim front line. He'll also have plenty of room for reboundings, etc. Besides that, I think playing with J-Kidd will boost his offensive numbers. Although he's played with some top notch pg's in Stockton and D-Williams, he's never been one of the top two choices for either on offense. Here he would be, so that would work to his advantage.

As for RJ in Utah, I'm not so sure that that would work as well as AK in NJ. RJ can shoot from the outside, but not necessarily any better than AK. And that's essentially what the Jazz need. Look at their starting five from last year, who all recieved the lion's share of minutes from Jerry Sloan. At point, Deron Williams is one of the top 5 in the league and is the Jazz's future for the next dozen years or so. At the 3, AK was a reliable scorer as far as 4th options go, and is a top 5 defensive player. At 4, Boozer was a steady 20-10 and a top 5 pf. And Okur was a center who could both clog the lane and stretch defenses designed to collapse on Boozer. The only hole? SG, where the Jazz lacked a reliable outside shooter. In RJ, they still wouldn't be getting this, and instead would just have another scorer(unneeded with Williams, Boozer and Okur) who's defense doesn't hold a flame to what they'd be losing in AK.

True AK is disgruntled, but I see a deal for Shawn Marion being more likely than one for RJ. As it is, if the Jazz feel that he really is too much of a distraction than they'd like to deal with right now, I can see them settling for a solid outside shooter in mold of Mike Miller or J.R. Smith, with maybe a decent 3 or some young talent thrown in. I really wouldn't be surprised if they tried dealing him to Minnesota for some of the castoffs recieved for KG.
