I'll have to read this all tonight. Should he really have to quit?

I'm sorry, but if the Democrats want me then they need to purge themselves of their touchers. Gropers and people who commit sexual misconduct don't get to represent me.

Why isn't that good enough? Franken's a first rate scumbag, but calling a photo of him pretending to grope a woman who is wearing a goddamned flak vest "sexual assault" is absolutely ridiculous. As for the kiss, it's definitely creepy, and if it made her feel uncomfortable then he was absolutely wrong. But lowering the threshold of the definition of sexual assault does nothing but lessen the impact of the words themselves, and that's insulting to those who have been truly assaulted.

The flak vest is just the evidence corroborating the kiss. The kiss is what's nasty and he should be punished for.

Didn't know whole story. Thought he was gay and it was about the picture.

I was telling my wife how I thought all these harassment claims were terrible. She said "how sensitive of you"

I said "not really, it's terrible because I didn't know women wouldn't have necessarily turned me in all these years"

I don't know whether to cry or crack the fuck up at this shit right here!

So apparently we're going to bring up every single thing that ever happened involving any famous person at any time. Cool.

rock stars...athletes...soldiers..politicians...UPS drivers...mailmen....I'm sure some are good people

There are a lot of famous people worried they are next. And there are even more people thankful that they aren't famous right now.

The world has turned into a Kurt Vonnegut novella...jokes aside...this exposure has been buried for way too long.....maybe fewer in Hollywood or New York or London will enable this behavior moving forward...and maybe stricter rules may be applied to make couch casting a black listing offense across the board

You are aware that one of the admins here sniffs stranger's crotches?

Edit: yes, it's Denny.

I'm glad I'm not famous. While I've certainly never assaulted or groped someone, I'm sure 20 or 30 years ago I made someone uncomfortable with a joke or an action.

Just like the Moore story, I think there's more to the story than what we're being told. In that, things don't add up.

Who took the photo (Owen Frankens camera wasn't the one who took the photo).

Why would Moore have signed it D.A.?

Why would someone who didn't mind posing nude/posting suggestive pictures, fire guns, etc...all the sudden be a docile woman on TV now? I'm not saying that women who pose nude, etc, aren't assaulted, but it seems a little questionable that all the sudden this is an issue.

Why is a picture of him acting like he is honking her breasts all the sudden now " sexual assault" or "groping"?

Again, not saying he DIDN'T do it, but that this could be a like some of the cases that are not necessarily presented in the most accurate forms. Think about how many false allegations/conspiracy stories that go around.

Like the whole "rape plane" thing or the "Pizza pedophile" ring thing.

Those were not false.

For entertainer excuse, its only "groping". "It's not the real thing, its just a fantasy"-B Joel.

Being non-famous won't make any difference when you're in prison for flirting, which is the direction it's going.

She's old now and that's not a good picture. She needed braces if anything

I didn't mean that she was super hot so he shouldn't cheat. Just thought he was gay.

Uh oh...heard Seacrest did something. Don't know what, it was a teaser on the news this morning. Will Google now and see.

I've thought a lot about this Franken thing and followed the responses and I've got a couple of things to say.
1. What he did was not okay. And who knows how much of it he did.
2. I don't believe it was sexual harassment. I think he really disliked this woman (because she's what he would view as a right-wing bimbette - which, again, does not make any difference to whether or not he harassed her, nobody "deserves" abuse) and this was bullying on his part.
3. (Again this is not an excuse, it is an observation) it was in the context of this USO tour where a huge amount of the vibe is crude sexual humor and objectifying of the sexy women (that was her schtick on this tour, which is why there are photos of her in a bikini kissing soldiers) I think that might have something to do with the photo, at least, because clearly this was intended to be funny and was a cooperative venture with the taker of the picture.
4. Have you ever seen the movie version of M*A*S*H? Watch it again and see what they get up to re: humiliating humor directed at women. Franken is of an age where that was considered funny (and again, this is in the context of war). OF COURSE that doesn't make it okay, and maybe it's a sign that that generation needs to retire from the stage, but it's context, at least.

Does that make a difference? It makes me more likely to believe the accounts of all those female interns and co-workers who have written a letter in support of him saying he was great and never disrespectful. It makes me prepared to believe that he is not a serial harasser (until other people come forward). Does it make his behavior okay? No, bullying is not okay, particularly if it involves intentional humiliation. And it's sexist bullying at that. But is he remotely comparable with Roy Moore? Not on this evidence. (Yes, I realized I was getting all preachy earlier in this thread about how we shouldn't "rank" sexual harassment, but we obviously do, and if it's just the one and it's not actually motivated by pervish desires then it's a different kind of bad behavior.)

When the conservative pedophiles want to get the attention off themselves...stand up comics are the distraction...especially ones that wrote for SNL....nothing right about bad behavior but Franken's pranks shouldn't be in the same league as Moore's mall molesting attempts..and as many have said...he owned up immediately as did Louis CK......we're seeing an ugly divorce in the ongoing separation of partisan politics....according to Trump...locker room talk is ok with him and celebrity comes with a get out of jail free pass. If they decide to comb through every entertainer and politician that's fondled a groupie, starlet or employee....it'll take centuries to convict them all. The Chinese just used eunichs to protect their wives and daughters.....maybe that's the price a Harvey Weinstein should pay...lose the family jewels...
