· Aldridge, prior to his 46-point, 18-rebound performance in Game 1, decided to try something different. Usually the first game of a playoff series isn’t the preferred time to switch up routines, but for whatever reason, Aldridge made one minor change: he drank a carton of coconut water, an elixir that has recently grown in popularity, particularly in Portland, in the last couple of years.

And after Game 1′s overtime victory, Aldridge guzzled down another carton of coconut water in one series of uninterrupted gulps.

So rather than tempting the fates like he had by changing his regiment in Game 1, Aldridge did the same thing before and after to Game 2.

“I did do coconut water pregame and postgame. We did it last game, I played great, so I just did it again this game.”

It’s safe to assume he’ll do the same thing Friday before and after Game 3.

Casey's on 620 right now, and he expounded a little on this story. Said that the coconut water was placed in his locker just as something he might be willing to try (presumably because the coconut water people sent a bunch to the Blazers), and Aldridge was more than a little hesitant. Before drinking it, he told whoever it was who gave it to him (I wasn't listening closely enough to hear who it was), "If I have a bad game tonight, it's on you."

So now we know (kind of) who to thank for his dominance in Houston.

I drink coconut water on business trips and when traveling heavily. I feel more energized, and it helps with recovering from late nights drinking (which is part of the job).

What a diva.

Of course it is...

It actually is when you work in the alcohol industry. In fact, I find myself more and more trying to get through a meal and bow out of the evening early to avoid the late night drinking sessions when on the road with customers and other industry folk.

I like the Ocean Water at Sonic...mmmm....little ice. We drive from Gresham to Wilsonville just to go to Sonic for happy hour soda.

That is good stuff. Sonic has a lot of tasty beverages. We used to go there on Fridays or Saturday evenings, especially in the summer when we were like 2-3 miles from it.

This. Coconut milk is not great tasting, but I don't drink it for the flavor.

Coconut milk and coconut water are different. One is basically fat, the other sugar!
Hell, if it works for LMA, fine.

I have a Sonic literally 2 minutes from my house (I can see it outside my window)... and I still have not done the happy hour thing... now I feel like I'm taking it for granted. lol.

Doesn't coconut water give you the shits? I guess in LA's case, it gave Houston the shits instead. :ghoti:

Didn't LaMarcus leave the bench for a spell in the second game? Or maybe it was the first? I remember someone commenting on it that he must have had to take a leak.

I was just gonna say the shits thing, especially chugging a bunch of it but...whatever works!

In dog racing, you bet on the dog that shits during the showing right before. Same principle here. La was super light on his feet after the coconut water.

Un...freaking...real. I was going to post that my dad told me that when I was a little kid. I decided to pass. LOL

I've only made like 8 bets at the dogs tracks over my lifetime (but I do enjoy watching the races so I'll go and not place bets). I'd say using this strategy has worked 4 outta 5 times I've used it.

He cleared lanes with the shaq pattented shart your shorts maneuver #bbqchciken
