Aldridge and Wes to Celtics?

Interesting.. I could see the Celtics going after Wes pretty hard!

Portland was almost named Boston due to a coin toss, but the other choice won. This is obviously a roundabout way of saying they're coming back here!

Are these people crazy?

if they were crazy they'd be talking about the little known scrub FAs the Celts are likely to sign instead of the ones their fans dream about. My favorite part of the article was saying that LA would be interested in becoming a Celtic because he would want to go deep into the playoffs...

STOMP

35% chance of signing Aldridge? 75% chance of signing Matthews?

Yeah, they're high.

Bill Simmons syndrome.

The Celtics are terrible. But everyone wants to flock there because of brad Stevens! Right? Right?

Give me a break

Yea its just Celtics homers talking about how they have such a good situation so why wouldn't you want to play on the Celtics. It has as much knowledge and facts as if you put Mags and I on a show and asked us to talk about who we would want to play on the Blazers and why they should choose the Blazers, itd just be a rose colored glasses fest.

Please, no sign and trade that gets us back the Olydork guy.

They already have way too many guards, and they got there lockdown defender in Avery Bradley... I don't think he fits.

Danny Ainge is just using his pals from South High School in Eugene to avoid tampering

The Celtics would definitely be his team and the are in a big city. If they can't get Aldridge I could see them getting Love.
The Blazers are definitely Aldridge and Matthews team right now. The fans absolutely love both of them, plus management is all in as well.

Love in Boston--paired with Olynyk--would actually be pretty interesting.

This Blazers team is becoming more & more Lillards team. He has all the spot light.

They have a lot of cap space and signing both together would be a smart move. Whether it happens or not who knows but I expect the Celtics to work hard at making a big move.

What's funny about that is that I had completely forgotten about that incident until you just mentioned it.

That injury could have cost the Cavs and Love a championship. Might not be a lot of "love" between the two of them now. If the Celts really want Love they better hope the Cavs win it all.

That is a theory manufactured by the media in trying to come up with a reason for LMA to leave. If Dame has all the spotlight then why are we only talking about LMA right now. Everyone knows how important LA is to this team. (Especially Dame)

And if LA gets paid the max by Portland, does he really care who gets the spotlight? Does he even enjoy the spotlight? I think he hates it. Sure he loves to be recognized as a great player, being an all star, holding all Blazer records by the time he is through, but he can do all of that without being in the spotlight. I don't think that is who LaMarcus is? I think he would be happy to share it.

Which team gives him the best chance at winning a championship is probably more of a key than being "the guy". If you win, you get it all.

SA worries me.

Report: Celtics looking to pursue LaMarcus Aldridge and Wesley Matthews as package deal

If LaMarcus Aldridge leaves the Trail Blazers, where would he go?

The Spurs are reportedly at or near the top of his list, and the Cavaliers could factor. The Lakers and Knicks will push for him, too. I wouldn’t be surprised if the Mavericks and Rockets also pursue the native Texan.

A wildcard: Boston, which could also pursue pending free agent Wesley Matthews.

A. Sherrod Blakely of CSN Northeast:

My understanding is the Celtics are going to be open to putting together some type of package deal where they would not only bring in LaMarcus Aldridge, they’d also bring in one of his good friends by the name of Wes Matthews.

If the Celtics renounce all their free agents besides Jae Crowder and waive the unguaranteed contracts of Phil Pressey and Chris Babb, they’d be $23,700,485 below the projected salary cap.

Aldridge’s max contract projects to start at $19,027,800, not leaving much room for Matthews. Matthews might have drawn a max contract before his season-ending injury, and he’s still worth much more than a few million per year.

Boston could clear more cap space by trading a first-rounder to dump Gerald Wallace, and landing Aldridge and Matthews would easily justify losing that pick.

But why would Aldridge and Matthews sign with the Celtics? Brad Stevens is a good coach, and the Eastern Conference presents an easier road. But if the duo is just trying to recreate what it has together in Portland – a place Aldridge is still fond of – good luck doing it without Damian Lillard. Whatever advantages Boston has, it doesn’t have Lillard.

If Aldridge wants to leave the Trail Blazers, he should have better options. If he wants to stay with Wesley Matthews, they should re-up with Portland.

The seafood in Boston is the ONLY thing worth NBA residence.

The Celts have no shot. None. Zero. Zip. Zilch. Nada.

I am concerned about two teams.

The Spurs.
The Mavs.

That's it.

Maybe Allen could give LMA his vacation resort to keep LMA in Portland for the NBA season.
