Aldridge did request a trade

I just don't want my favorite player to play for the lakers. That would be like watching my friend get killed right in front of me:

How about a package including Ibaka and Steven Adams from OKC? And they have to take Freeland and help us clear up enough cap space to make a big offer to Pekovic, because I think Ibaka and Pekovic would complement each other nicely.

In general, if we miss out on Asik and decide to trade Aldridge now, then whatever trade we make should clear enough space to make a toxic Asik-like offer to Pekovic. My objection to Pekovic with our current roster (not a shotblocker) would vanish and I would just value his scoring. (That doesn't mean I'd want Al Jefferson, because I think Pekovic is bigger and stronger and at least tries on defense.)

That's a whole lot of "meh" to me. Pek is definitely going to be over priced. Ibaka has a toxic contract if he can't be as good on a team without Durant and Westbrook. Did you see how inconsistent he was once Westbrook got injured?

There is no asik like offer we can give pek

You're right! I am all over the place. I just read my favorite player wants to be traded. I'm a little emotional right now.

MAGS! Take a deep breath brotha. Channel your inner homerism and have some faith that this team will get back in the playoff race and make LMA rethink his emotions about being a Blazer.

I was feeling vindicated after his garbage performance in the finals that year. But that wasn't even as egregious as when I called TRob the next Blake Griffin before the draft. Oops.

I know, right?! I had suggested trading him for Lebron. But oh no.

If you had, I doubt the reaction would've been "Aldridge is way too valuable" like it was with Harden.

OKC probably tells you us to fuck off if we want BOTH Ibaka and Harden.

But in all honesty, the trio of Aldridge, Westbrook and Durant would have been pretty epic. They would only need a center and they would dominate the league for years.

And Aldridge would probably leave them in 2 years also, because he has already stated he hated being 3rd fiddle and wants his own team - and 3 max contracts is quite a bit

So an unnamed source reports something that LA denies and the information is months old? Why the heck is this being jumped on like its the truth. This is the time of years rumors spread like wildfire and with how social media is and with reporters wanting to be the first to report something, we get fake rumors all the time especially this time of the year.
If LA wants to be traded cool, he isn't getting his wish this summer. There is no blockbuster trade that would really work for us unless its with detriot. I'd rather wait until the deadline or next years draft and use LA to try and get a nice package including a draft pick instead of a bunch of marginal players that aren't viewed as stars.

I think once a player has already signed his 2nd max contract, they don't care if they are 3rd fiddle anymore. Stats won't matter as much by the time his third big contract comes up. It only matters to them so they get the big contracts. LMA will be around 34 at that point. He will get paid, but it will be based on other things than PPG.

Cynical Blazers Fan Comic:

If he hates talking to the media, he's in the wrong damn business. I hate when people choose a career that brings fame and then complain about dealing with the media. It's part of the package.

well it is all about appeasing you

lots of athletes hate dealing with the media. Maybe instead of bitching about something you've got no control over and has no end in site you should take up a hobby that you can control... like knitting or flying kites

Well, obviously it's in good taste to complain about a central part of your job as you make millions, live in huge houses, and drive nice cars while the rest of us toil in a shitty economy.

I somehow missed the quotes you're referring to where LA was complaining about dealing with the media... feel free to point me in the right direction for those

Every Aldridge interview I've heard he's been sort of Drexler-esk relaying appropriate cliches talking about the team and hard work in a dry/unenthused way.

Aldridge was irritated.

“This is why I hate being in Portland,’’ he told me. “You can’t do anything.’’

Unless you think he's talking about the lack of a night life, I'm pretty sure he's referring to the Portland media.

I do wish the Portland media would all take long walks off the same short pier.

I have no love for them, I think they're basically tabloid journalists, but I also have zero sympathy for celebrities who bemoan the media element of their jobs.

I don't read Quick on purpose. He's a piece of crap and should be shunned by everyone. Thanks so much for the link as I love making him $ and helping ensure he continues to rep Portland

once clicked, I read the link.... pretty tepid stuff you've got there for your smoking gun. A disgraced loser is badgering LA over a series of days posing the same "are you leaving/do you want out" question, to which he repeatedly denied. LA's contract is about to be up and there is a decent chance he might be traded so he addressed it with his property manager. Do you really think Quick is doing his job badgering LA's property manager? I find it amazing that someone telling an annoying jerkoff his BS is wearing thin would cause you to experience and express hate for Aldridge. Did you and Jason hang or something?

"See, Aldridge wants to end his seven-year run with the Blazers because he thinks Portland is too small. Too boring."

Quick's hypothesis, but not one quote from LA expresses anything along those lines, which is typical of JQ's crap/rumor mongering. I recall a relevant quote from LA following being drafted (paraphrasing) "I don't drink, I've never smoked, and I can't dance. I'm not someone who goes out to clubs." Has anyone here ever seen LA at a club or a bar? How about with a beer in his hand?

Quick and Canzano don't deserve anyone's respect... certainly not Blazer's fans

I firmly believe if Aldridge isn't traded the summer; olshey convinced Aldridge that we are on a winning program.

Perhaps.

Though I think it's much more likely that assets are being acquired for the post-Dwight dominoes. On July 10-13, you're going to have a lot of teams that missed out on Dwight, missed out on signing RFA's, missed out on the big-ticket UFA's, and have visions of SAS/MIA being done in 2 years' time. Lining up quality, expensive talent will be the order of the day, and LMA is one of the highest-quality big-ticket players even remotely available right now.

That's what I'm saying. This is a great opportunity for Portland to cash out on the Dwight domino. If we don't pull off a trade this summer; then I think olshey convinced Aldridge.

The good thing about LMA is that baring an injury, his value will still be there unless he comes out and says "I won't sign an extension except with XXXX". If we don't move him this summer, which I'm not in favor of unless a team greatly overpays for him, I think we will see how the team is going up to the trade deadline. If were looking good at that time he stays but if were sucking I think he gets moved. Same with at the end of the year, we can't just make the playoffs we have to show that we belong on that stage, if we just get easily swept then we trade him in the off season.

Edit - I should also say that I don't' think LMA signs an extension anywhere. I think he wants the 4/5 years of max money because that will most likely be the last big payday he gets as a player
