Aldridge did request a trade

Awesome bump! I'm sure this will lead to a quality discussion.
 
Why is it hard to believe that Aldridge, at this stage in his career (last year), indicated in his exit interview that unless the team improved, i.e. to a playoff caliber team, he would not be interested in continuing his career in Portland and would seek other opportunities? It certainly appears that is probably what happened, and it is in fact a rational position for him to take. The team did upgrade the roster, the team did become a playoff caliber team, and the team certainly appears to be moving in the right direction.

Can't we put this to rest already?

I think that's exactly what happened. What's fascinating is Olshey hears this and decides to only replace the center position. That obviously was the correct decision but considering what was riding on it, the possibility of LMA walking away, you would be tempted to make more moves to the starting lineup.

I bumped this thread because it's very tame compared to others I read from last summer. I find the hindsight of 20/20 to be beneficial when reviewing the LMA from last summer.
 
The thing is MM said absolutely not when he had no idea what he was talking about.

And Sly- Why did Olshey have to improve the starting line up last summer outside of center? The holes were bench and center and he improved both and thus, we won 21 more games.

I didn't actually reread any of the thread. :)

I think you are right about hindsight. I think looking back supports my unsupported opinion. ;)

I know how many more games we won but there was no guarantee we would win that many more games. Olshey had tremendous pressure on him to rapidly improve this team. A lot of people, GMs, fans who think they're GMs, etc. would have made more moves than the few moves that Olshey ended up making.

Olshey made the correct decision(s) and I'm complimenting him for it.

We brought in mo, dorrell, cj, rolo, And TRob and mags and I predicted 3 seed. NateB predicted 5 seed and was right. People who knew the team knew we would make a big jump.

Seriously, why are you trying to turn this into some argument? I obviously know the moves the team made last year. I was happy last year with the moves made and was just optimistic as you, Mags and Nate were.

Hopefully when the schedule comes out it'll have a good opening day night that we can all get to Grand Central for the game! Or at least, some games. That was really enjoyable.

Trade Aldridge to Cleveland for Wiggins; trade Batum & Lennard and any other insignificant piece to Minny for Love.

Dammit . . . I started reading through three pages of this thread scratching my head why this would come up now after after pretty successful season and our first playoff series win in forever . . . then I finally see the date of the OP. Thanks for random bump!
