At least k. bryant has a torn rotator cuff . . .

That is just nuts that we havent heard that if its true
It's interesting that an All-Star on our team may be in a cast, and the only one who knows it is Sean Devaney at NBC Sports.

There's gotta be a .gif somewhere of him just chucking over and over and over again...until his arm falls off like the Black Knight of Monty Python...then he switches to the left.

Jeez, the pessimism around here is out of sight. LA had one MRI that was inconclusive. They didn't see a tear, but they couldn't confirm that one wouldn't show up on a new MRI once the swelling goes down a bit. There isn't anything in that that tips this either way as far as determining the severity of the injury and how long he may be out. Might want to hold off on writing the season off until the results are out.
Even palaces have gutters.

You expect the fans of a team who had to go through oden and Roy to not be pessimistic? Yeah. Okay.

I wonder if this affects the coach's decision when picking All Star reserves.

The only thing I will say to that is that he is indeed not Greg Oden or Brandon Roy. Or ever had their injury issues.

I understand they are independent events, but logic is clouded by emotion a lot.

Probably stupid question but are you allowed to play with the cast in the NBA? Seen it many times in the NFL but not sure I have seen someone do it in the NBA.

According to my infallible sources, (jlprk) Aldridge should be able to play with a brace or cast and not have it effect his ability to catch the ball, which he usually drops the first time anyway.

I was just pessimistically thinking this may be the exact reason the Blazers aren't being forthcoming about LMA's status.

The coaches presumably start voting today, and the team still wants LMA picked as an All-Star even if they know he won't be available.

If it'd affect Westbrook's chances, it'd affect LMA's.

Fortunately for Westbrook if the worst happens and Lillard, Paul, & Thompson all beat him out because he missed time, he should still be presumptive fav as Silver's choice for Kobe's replacement.

I know, but I guess what I'm really asking is Stackpole got a lot of credit for his new program... but, could there be any detriments to it, as well, consdiering the amount of injuries that have happened close together? Just probing the idea, that's all.
LaMarcus has a thumb injury.
Lopez broke a bone in his hand.
Batum has a wrist injury.
Dame has a couple of mangled fingers (it appears).
CJ broke a finger.
TRob tore thumb ligaments before the season.

I don't know how the training staff could have prevented those.

Freeland has a shoulder injury of some sort. It happens.
Crabbe has/had some kind of minor knee injury.

Wes got drilled hard a couple of times, MMA style. He was hurtin' for certain but he soldiers on.

I still don't see the kinds of injuries that seemingly cursed our franchise for so long.

If anything, I continue to give our training and medical staff more credit than the staffs they replaced.

Cool. Again, just throwing the thought out there.

I'm glad you did. In the back of my mind I've been having the same thoughts. Your question caused me to think about it and now I'm actually a bit relieved.

I should rep you. ;)

Latest Update

So they speculate LMA could be out atleast 3 weeks, or may need surgery.

Rolo won't be back until right before ASB (They're hoping, so could be even later) and sounds like Freeland is way out...not until after the ASB (I swear Freeland is the slowest healer lol)

Listen to a quick blip from Olshey's interview in the link below.

If they have him in a cast to immobilize his thumb and hopefully get the swelling down to avoid surgery I'm all for a 3 weeks rest! At least we have good timing with the All Star break coming up. Hopefully we get some of these games leading up to the break but unfortunately this team just doesn't win very much without LaMarcus.

Trying to look at the positive, February is the best month for us to be out all these guys. Only 9 games to play, 6 of which are home.

so it went from the MRI being clear, to the MRI being inconclusive, to a cast, to another MRI coming, to 3 weeks out maybe, and now finally to surgery and extended recovery time.

fuck me.

I just saw this on twitter. six to 8 weeks. Sorry to hear that
