Baldwin was filming is newest movie Rust, when he fired a prop gun, killing cinematographer Halyna Hutchins and injuring director Joel Souza.

An investigation is underway. No charges have been filed.

This incident harkens back to actor Brandon Lee who was was shot and killed by a prop gun in 1993 while filming the crow.

These incidents are rare. Prop masters take great care to make sure prop guns, are safely discharged.

Local 44 which represents prop masters sent an email saying the bullet was a live round and that the prop master on set was not a member of the Local 44.

why would prop guns even have a projectile of any kind?

not really a prop if it can still kill eh?

Usually they don't. Prop guns generally use blanks, bullets without projectiles. Though it's rare, sometimes a real bullet ends up getting placed in a prop gun.

The weird thing is that a lot of movies/tv shows use airsoft guns now and just add muzzle flashes later in post production.

This is definitely a huge mistake by the production staff.

I read this morning that something like 43 actors have been killed on movie sets by props and 150 disabled for life. Reminds me of Brandon Lee and Vic Morrow...Vics was brutal...helicopter blade killed him on set..Brandon Lee was killed by a prop gun on the Crow set...feel bad for this lady and her loved ones

This seems like important context:

Vic was beheaded.

They do, but it doesn't look as real. And it's far more expensive.

Am I reading that right? Baldwin objected to replacing qualified people with scabs - and that somehow makes him responsible when the scabs screw up?

I think they are saying he is partially responsible because he pulled the trigger

It pisses me off when anti-gun people immediately turn around and start spewing anti-gun crap right after a shooting, and it equally pisses me off that I'm seeing pro-gun people taking pleasure in the fact that an anti-gun advocate shot two people.

This really isn't a gun control issue. No intent to kill. More a job safety issue.
Gun safety is very much a gun control issue. Isn’t that what a lot of “common sense gun control” is about?

I see your point. But mine was gun control is more about keeping guns from people who shouldn't have them, training, tracing. There should never have been bullets in the gun.

I agree with you but is there responsibility on the actors to always check a gun that’s handed to them? I can’t imagine just trusting someone else that a gun is safe.

I just don't know enough about that, but on a news program they said the prop master, I think that was the title, is in charge.

I was reading a thread on Reddit from someone who has that career and the safety precautions that they personally take is extensive. It sounds like this movie was just extremely unsafe.

She was shot in the chest. How did that happen?

Twice impeached loser hated Baldwin for spoofing him on Saturday Night Live. Acolyte JD Vance, a candidate for Republican nomination for Senate angling for mango endorsement, told Twitter CEO he had to let Trump back onto Twitter so he could mock Baldwin. A woman died but by all means get revenge for a comedy show parody.
