All In For Ben Simmons

At the very least, losing a lot of games this year will increase my interest in college basketball. The last several years, I've waited until the NCAA tournament to start watching college ball. This year, I'll probably catch some regular season games, especially Kentucky and LSU.

LOL, from the guy who constantly said LMA and all Wes and Robin would be back, if Wook says one thing then take the other side (90/10 odds you will be right)

In wooks defense here, BGD likes to create arguments or points of view that on one said, and then make flippant comments about them. So, Wook had a point.

Jamal Murray is another player to keep an eye on. That is is CJ doesn't pan out.
He's a likely top 5 guy whom I'd love to have alongside Dame and CJ. He has the size and athleticism they both lack to defend with while he also has point guard and scoring skills. Those three would be awesome together.

Is it wrong that I'm already excited about a top 5 pick? It feels wrong, but it feels right too.

Many of us were aware of that in the O-Live forum. I don't know why you guys keep on responding to his ridiculous comments!

Continue on. It always gives me a good laugh. :rotfl:

It was a lot of fun seeing who they would draft every year ten years ago when they sucked. I'd rather be in that position than being the 8-9th seed every year.

In that case, you have credibility.

I don't think we'll have any chance of being one of the worst 4 teams in the league. We won the Oden lottery when we were slotted at #7 which is certainly plausible though.

I'm not going to worry at all about draft seeding until the last month of the season. We have 15 players on the roster so its far more important and valuable to the future of our franchise if some of them make significant improvements than the difference of moving up a couple slots in the draft.

It's kind of a "You have to eat what's in front of you before you can even think of dessert. And when you've cleaned your plate, you might not even need or want dessert" thing.

It's kind of like being happy about being the victim of a serious beat-down because maybe there will be a hot nurse at the hospital.

Far be it from me to judge if that's wrong, though.

I guess tanking would be more like going into a fight with your hands tied behind your back so you'll get a bad enough beating you have to go to the hospital in hopes that you may, possibly, have a hot nurse work on you.

If you're lucky enough to land a top-2 pick the choice is easy: Ben Simmons.

The basketbal gods owe this to Portland.

Oh. Bender won a duel with Alessandro Neverheardofhim. In Stein world that proves he's a great player.

No doubt you should always choose best player available, but all things considered, you also want to focus on your team's positions of need. My guess is that the Blazers will be looking to first draft some depth at SF, then perhaps PG. Here are a few prospects currently listed on NBAdraft.net in those positions:
Ben Simmons.jpg Ben Simmons, 6'10", 230 lbs, SF, LSU Fr
Jaylen Brown.jpg Jaylen Brown, 6'7", 225 lbs, SF, Cal Fr
Brandon Ingram.jpg Brandon Ingram, 6'9", 195 lbs, SF, Duke Fr
Jamal Murray.jpg Jamal Murray, 6'5", 205 lbs, PG/SG Kentucky Fr
Kris Dunn.jpg Kris Dunn, 6'4", 205 lbs, PG, Providence Jr
Ray Smith.jpg Ray Smith, 6'8", 190 lbs, SF, Arizona Fr
Isaiah Briscoe.jpg Isaiah Briscoe, 6'3", 210 lbs, PG, Kentucky Fr

At this time, it's looking like the 2016 Draft will be a bit light on PG talent. Luckily there should be a good selection of lottery talent at the SF position. A lot will/can change between now and draft day. Only 270 days 5 hr 41 min and 35 sec until the 2016 draft!

Dragan Bender sounds like a new bad guy on Game of Thrones.

Good thing we won't be looking for a PG.
