ALDRIDGE, BATUM AND LILLARD REPRESENT PORTLAND ON
2014 NBA ALL-STAR BALLOT
Trail Blazers’ fans can vote now through Jan. 20

PORTLAND, Ore. (Nov. 15, 2013) – The Portland Trail Blazers feature three players on the 2014 NBA All-Star ballot, it was announced today by the NBA. Guard Damian Lillard and forwards LaMarcus Aldridge and Nicolas Batum are Portland’s nominees for a starting spot on the Western Conference All-Star team.

Through eight games, Lillard has averaged 19.9 points, 5.1 rebounds and 5.5 assists while ranking fourth in the league in total made 3-pointers (25). Aldridge, a two-time NBA All-Star, owns team-high season averages of 21.3 points, 8.8 rebounds. Batum has posted season averages of 12.4 points, 6.6 rebounds and 5.4 assists along with recording his third career triple-double on Nov. 2 in the team’s home opener.

The National Basketball Association (NBA) and Sprint tipped off NBA All-Star Balloting 2014 today during a special event in New Orleans, the official host city of NBA All-Star 2014. NBA All-Star Balloting 2014 presented by Sprint began today at 3:30 p.m. ET.

NBA All-Star Balloting 2014 presented by Sprint gives fans around the world the opportunity to vote daily for their favorite players as starters for NBA All-Star Game 2014. This year, the NBA is expanding social media voting to include Instagram. Fans can use Instagram to vote by posting an original photo, using #NBABallot and the player’s first and last name in the photo caption. Fans can vote for 10 unique players per day.

For the second year in a row, NBA fans can vote via social media networks, including Facebook and Twitter, and Sina Weibo and Tencent Microblog in China. Twitter voting allows fans to tweet a vote for 10 unique players each day throughout the All-Star balloting period. The tweet must include the player’s first and last name, along with hash tag #NBABallot. Facebook voting allows fans to comment on official league, team, or international NBA All-Star Facebook pages by commenting below the post with #NBABallot and the player’s first and last name. Voters can select 10 unique players per day.

NBA fans can also access the ballot and vote through the NBA Game Time and NBA Game Time from Sprint applications, available on Android and iOS. Fans can fill out one full ballot per day, through the NBA Game Time and NBA Game Time from Sprint application, the most comprehensive app in the marketplace for NBA fans.

There are several other ways fans can cast their votes as part of this season’s all-digital program including: in 11 languages on NBA.com/asb, through SMS voting by texting the player's last name to 6-9-6-2-2 ("MYNBA") or by visiting NBA.com/asb on any wireless device. Fans can vote for 10 different players per day, per phone number, via SMS voting by sending 10 separate SMS messages, each one with a different player's last name. Message and data rates may apply. Voters can fill out one full ballot per day on nba.com/asb from a desktop or mobile browser.

The NBA All-Star ballot features 120 players – 60 each from the Eastern and Western conferences – with 36 frontcourt players and 24 backcourt players from each conference comprising the list. Voters select three frontcourt players and two backcourt players from each conference.

Beat me to it BoBo!

Oh yeah.

Everyone's voting for Boozer in the East, right?

If everyone in Portland would just vote three times, they'd all make it in. Not many people vote.

I'd rather none of them make it, and take a break instead.

60 players on the WC ballot, and we have 3 of them. Same as a really terrible Utah Jazz team.

There are 15 teams, so on average each team gets 4 candidates. So we're under-represented yet again.

I'm not complaining--I think it's more a statement of the dearth of quality on our roster than an indictment of the system. Hopefully Lopez, CJ or somebody else emerges this year to at least merit consideration on the ballot this time next year.

Wes deserves to be on. He's a top 5 SG in the conference for sure.

They don't vote because fan voting (at least in it's current incarnation) is just flat out stupid. I'm not going to vote for someone in the same position as Lebron if I know Lebron is going to win. There's already "predetermined" winners... maybe not by the league - but the league markets them, and it's made darn near impossible to go over them unless they are having a phenomenal season.

I just let the coaches choose the real all stars. They actually know.

Wes got snubbed, write him in! Trying to fill out this ballot makes me feel as though there are few hall of fame in their prime superstars in the NBA right now.

Well it won't let me submit a vote, says I already voted. I think the link is under brewski' account.

Well 3 frontcourt players make it so even if LeBron is a lock there are two other spots. I tried to vote Paul George and Hibbert it kind of shocked me how few legit stars are in the east. I'm sure Melo will make it but he's such a poor defensive selfish ball stopping player I could never vote for him.

And therein lies the problem. Melo isn't good at anything but making buckets. But there aren't enough basketball-savvy fans to know that. So the wrong people become starters or starters based on previous work, etc.

As little as Scotty Brooks played the subs last year, it's basically a break unless you're a starter, anyhow.

Still travelling, doing radio and tv commitments, etc. It's still "work" in a sense.

A lot of the players "resting" actually head of to Mexico, or Hawaii, or...

Put it this way. When you're heading there, you're not thinking about work, there's a relief.

When you're going to the ASG... you still have to be "up" in front of the lights, getting up early for that tv commitment, doing meet and greets, etc.

There's a VAST VAST world of difference.

Could be, but it seems that the NBA champions every year have not only multiple players at the AS game, but also multiple starters playing big minutes. It never seems to make much of an impact come playoff time.

True.

Still though, there are distinctions psychologically.

No big deal, really, they are paid handsomely. lol.

My point is that you don't need many votes to beat LeBron. He's beatable if we tried. And we'd beat everyone out west.

If only some could get Justin Bieber to instruct his twitter followers to vote for Blazers..

No (can I say shit?). Another snub. ESPN snubbed him in their rankings. And the guy just keeps killing teams with daggers and defense. I don't get it. The All-Star prestige is a such a joke more than half the time.

I understand your point too, though. You have to wonder if LMA is getting a bit tired of going through all of the AS stuff, only to be treated like a scrub during the actual game. It barely seems worth the effort to go to the game.

Exactly. Yeah. I wonder if (after the 1st ASG selection) they are like "God damn, I'm burned out. Then I sit on a bench instead of a beach." haha. Who knows, but it wouldn't be surprising.

Absafuckinglootly you can say shit

Yeah. Wes should be in, but he's probably barely known outside of our fanbase and the other teams' announcers.

Its odd because being an allstar was a goal of his for so long, he finally gets it and now I think he's realized its not that big of a deal.

Tell that to the Blazers (or any other team) at contract renegotiation time.
