I just love the fact that Luke Ridnour got almost 3X as many votes as Brandon! What a great system.

Projecting the rest of the lineups, I'm guessing:

West:
Nowitzki
Anthony
Roy
Billups
Shaq
Pau
Parker

East:
Pierce
Bosh
Harris
Johnson
Hedo
Allen
and an E.C. center not named Howard...

I think Millsap will get the nod over Gasol.

Oh, I forgot Deron Williams. I might put him in over Parker.

no chance he makes it. he missed 12 games and his stats are down from last year. parker would be way ahead of him. nash, too probably.

possible nash could edge parker since parker missed some games, but otherwise this should be the 7. outside chance durant could bump both, but not likely.

another no possible chance, although i'd love to see that.

Why? The Jazz will likely get at least one player in the game if only because they have a good record. Plus, it's not like Millsap is a scrub. He's playing better than Gasol as far as I'm concerned. His stats look a bit down because he was coming off the bench for Boozer for about 20 games.

I don't know if I'd put Shaq in there for the other center in the West. The guy sits on one end of every back to back. If I had a choice, I'd actually pick Okur. He's had a really good (but quiet) season, and scored some 47 points I think in a game this year. He's played well for them with Boozer out.

gasol has been one of the two leaders and most valuable players on the team with the best record in the NBA. he has much better stats than millsap for the season and is much better known. millsap is at best the 3rd best player on his team and the jazz aren't required to have an allstar. there is zero chance millsap bumps gasol.

okur missed some games too, which will hurt his chances. also shaq will get some purely sentimental votes.

First off, just because you have the best record, does not guarantee you two all-stars. Millsap is a huge dark horse with a decent chance of getting in; since the coaches are voting. I would assume that the coaches will do their research. Baron Davis was a lot more known than Brandon Roy, yet the coaches picked Roy last year because they thought he was a better player and more deserving of an all-star selection.

Secondly, Gasol's not putting up better stats that Millsap. Millsap is outplaying Gasol in my opinion. Millsap averages more rebounds (9.5 to 9.2), steals (1.1 to .4), and blocks (1.2 to .9) all while playing about 4 and a half minutes less than Gasol. Yeah, Gasol gets one more assist per game and scores two more points, but Millsap's averages are dragged down somewhat because he was playing backup to Boozer at the beginning of the season. As a starter this season, he averages 34.9 mins (Same as Gasol), 17.9 points, 11.3 rebounds, 2.5 assists, 1.4 steals, and 1.2 blocks, all while shooting 56.7% from the floor. That's all-star territory. He's (along with Okur) carried the Jazz since Boozer has been out and Deron has been trying to get back into game shape.

Wait, so I forgot its just "forwards" rather than PF and SF...Pau should get in then IMO

17.5/9.2/3.5ast...one of the top teams...i think that does it

I think Roy is getting in... but if Pau gets the nod you win. I'm on the fence about Pau. I think he deserves it, but I'm not sure if he'll get it. You know how wishy washy the picks are.

it guarantees someone like millsap won't bump you.

Millsap is a huge dark horse with a decent chance of getting in

not at gasol's expense.

Baron Davis was a lot more known than Brandon Roy

roy was the unquestioned leader and driving force behind a team that had just won 13 in a row, was fightiing for the division lead, and was perceived as massively over-achieving when the voting happened. millsap is perceived as the 3rd or 4th best player on a team that is playing below expectations.

Secondly, Gasol's not putting up better stats that Millsap. Millsap is outplaying Gasol in my opinion.

gasol still has a higher PER for the season.

No it dosen't.

You're not the one voting.

Baron Davis was the unquestioned leader of a Golden State team that was streaking and had a better record than the Blazers. Deron Williams was putting up 19/10 on one of the best teams in the league. Coaches still took Roy. If the coaches feel one player is more deserving than another, than they will vote accordingly. Millsap has basically carried the Jazz in the absence of Boozer and Williams. And Millsap is at least the second best player on his team right now because Boozer is injured.

gasol still has a higher PER for the season.
You don't even provide any arguments except for this one, and this one doesn't even prove Pau is playing better. He barely has a better PER, but you still have to keep in mind that Millsap played 13 games as a reserve behind Boozer. As a starter, he's been absolutely dominant. Besides, PER doesn't show defense very well and almost any PF plays better D than softie G.

I doubt you've ever watched Millsap play or have followed him like I have. Saying there's no chance of him making the game is just stupid. Pau probably has the a bit higher chance since the Lakers have the best record, but Millsap is definitely worthy of all-star consideration.

no danny granger? really????????????

No it dosen't.

it does in this case. there would be an investigation and rioting in the streets if millsap got in and gasol didn't.

You're not the one voting.

i'm also not the one missing the big picture.

Baron Davis was the unquestioned leader of a Golden State

unlike millsap. i'm not arguing roy/davis.

Millsap has basically carried the Jazz in the absence of Boozer and Williams.

recently, and if he keeps it up he will have a good shot next year.

it's what coaches look at if they look at stats at all.

Saying there's no chance of him making the game is just stupid.

good thing i didn't say that then.

I gave it serious consideration and I'd put him in myself, but if it doesn't happen I wouldn't be surprised. It's what I think the coaches would do just because he's never been there before and their team is playing really poorly. But like I said though, I would be just fine with him in the game.

You can't be serious. :biglaugh:

i'm also not the one missing the big picture.

I believe you are.

Good job trying to dodge the argument. You're argument was that Gasol plays on the team with the better record. I provided an example where a player made the all-star game over another player even though that other player had a better team record.

recently, and if he keeps it up he will have a good shot next year.

He's basically started the whole year. Boozer went out the first month.
it's what coaches look at if they look at stats at all.

And Millsap's stats and PER are comparable, if not better.

good thing i didn't say that then.
...Reread your posts....

the warriors did not have the best record in the league, millsap is not his team's leader and by far best player, the jazz are not the youngest team in the league exceeding expectations by many games and have not won 13 in a row, and unlike roy last year millsap is getting zero serious pre-vote media buzz. there is no parallel between roy/davis and millsap/gasol.

...Reread your posts....

maybe you should. i didn't say anything about the odds of millsap bumping shaq or a 5th guard or anybody else. you initially specified millsap instead of gasol and that's all i've ever said anything about.
